  1. Hi Doris & Rob, I agree with your thinking completely. You only spend a few minutes of each day in the shower/toilet and the extra space for a separate onsuite would be better spent in the more useable part of the van - your sitting area, kitchen and around the bedroom. I know others will disagree with me, and that is fine as it is a very personaly decision and we all have different priorities. I would certainly agree that a separate ensuite is very nice and would be wonderful to have, but the price for the space it takes up is too high in a van. We are currently having our second Kedron built. The first one had a combined bathroom unit and we thought only for about 10 seconds about changing it for the second van to an ensuite. Once again we decided it was not worth the sacrificed space. Good luck with your planning. Take your time and go out and have a look at the different vans as they come through. Once you see a layout you like and can live with, you will know.
  2. Hi Gary & Kaye, We tried the ratchet strap mirrors, and they almost destroyed our windows with the scraping and noise they used to make whenever you had to put the windows up and down. If you want some to try, we still have them out in the shed. We eventually bit the bullet and went for the Clearview mirrors. See discussion here Not cheap, but worth every cent in our opinion.
  3. Hi Billy I suggest you contact Jan at the Kedron Sales Yard. She would be the most qualified to give you an estimate. Her number is 3350 3333

    Fridge Issue

Glad to hear it is fixed Colin. Enjoy the Margaret River region. Hi to Gayleen.

    Fridge Issue

Sounds very much like a fuse Colin. There are a couple of hidden fuses around the battery area, so have a good search there. Otherwise, just go through the line of fuses and replace each one, one at a time as a process of elimination. We don't have a van at the moment, so can't point you to a specific direction. Perhaps someone else can at least give you the fuse size/colour for the fridge to make it easier. Hopefully you'll be back up and running before the beer gets too hot. Enjoy Margaret River and don't forget to drop in to the Vasse Virgin Olive Oil place and grab some of their beautiful Macadamia Nut Pesto. About $12.50 a jar, but is fantastic when mixed in with some fresh pasta.

    New Look

I like it. A change is as good as a holiday.
  10. Wow Colin. That must have been very scarey for you both. I am so glad it was nothing major and that a further incident didn't occur because of where you had stopped. Thank you for sharing your experience.
  11. Yes, I believe on a few of the earlier vans Kedron were using Sikaflex. Hopefully you won't have any airconditioning problems. Fingers crossed.
  12. And here lies the sole reason Silicone is being used on our roofs instead of Sikaflex. Imagine if you had trouble with your airconditioner and it had to come out and Sikaflex had been used.
  13. No way John. I was criticised when I was Webmaster for stifling healthy debate when I was trying to protect the forum members from possible defamation. Let the thread remain !!
  14. Hi Ian, When moving or altering the weight distribution in a radical way as to reduce the ball weight, I would take it on a long tow test (at speed) and see what the difference it makes. I have heard of people doing this exact thing, only to find the van tows like a dog (due to insufficient ball weight) and are now madly trying to extend A frames to put large storage boxes to distribute some weight back on the ball. I am sure there will be those that disagree and say that a light ball weight is a good thing, but in my opinion 10% of total van weight on the ball, is recommended for a reason. Maybe check with Kedron before you progress any further.

    Holidays

We have that trip on our agenda for 2013. 2012 will be a very slow trip down to the Flinders Ranges in the first few months of the year, and FNQ for winter before returning to Brissie for Christmas. We spent 3 weeks in Tassie in 2000 and always planned to go back. What a fantastic place and one that shouldn't be rushed.
  16. That's interesting about the rain filling the frame and then running in the van. Does anyone else have this issue with their padded covers? I wonder if you could have some drain holes fitted as an option?
  17. Hi Jackie, No, you are not doing anything wrong. The Classifieds and Photo Sections (as add on programs to the Forum no longer exist). The photo section itself had too many bugs and I found myself constantly fixing it to keep it up and running. There have been a couple of headings added in the "Other Stuff" on the front page of the Forum called "For Sale" and "Members Photos". Please feel free to add your for sale items (accessible to all Forum Members) and photos (accessible to only Financial Members) there. Cheers
  18. Thanks for your response Colin. All good to know. We have some grey awning arm protectors that we will use with the new van. They usually protect them really well. I do like the coloured vans, but would probably go for the silver light colour. As you say - personal preference.
  19. Interesting comment Rod. We have taken our van over some pretty rough and stoney roads especially in the last 12 months and the only chipping that has occurred is above the front window (this is covered by a padded bra on the coloured vans) and perhaps the awning arms (these are still white I believe). Does anyone who's had a coloured van for some time have any comments, as we would be interested in the pro's and con's also.
  20. I think this is the document Gary & Kaye were referring to - Warranty_Service_Guide_2007.pdf
  21. Hi Peter PM's are only permitted between financial members.
  22. Hi Rod & Mavis That drive down the west coast is just beautiful, isn't it ! What is the overall length of your setup?....that just allowed you on the ferry?
  23. Missed a sale by ...... that much. LOL. Congratulations on becoming a Kedron owner. I know you will have many exciting trips ahead of you. For anyone else looking at a second hand Kedron, ours has 4 panels, 4 batteries, 4 water tanks, 1800w Inverter and frontloader washing machine. Send me a PM if you're interested and we can talk price.
  24. We are selling our 2004 19' Full Height Cross Country with an ATV chassis plus toilet/shower. You can contact me at kedronxc@gmail.com for more details if you are interested.
  25. Hi Rod and Mavis, Glad to hear you are having a great time. We ran into quite a few "Motorhome Parks" in WA. I think we will see them become more and more popular. We did see on some of the signs that caravans were allowed "upon request" and this usually meant we were given the "be self contained and collect all your waste water" lecture. Interesting to see pics of motorhomes not doing the right thing though. We also saw a few of those Eco Toilets on our trip. Someone (who will remain nameless) was saying they were sitting very still have a few quiet moments to themselves and contemplating their wonderful trip, when they suddenly heard a voice "We have detected no movement for several minutes, and the door will open in 30 seconds !" I believe there was a mad scramble to become decent in record time !! ....and no, it wasn't anyone from our van.
