  1. Hello All, We are doing the same thing ............. ordering a Silverado that is. It is just to hard working it out otherwise
  2. Hello Evan, Yes my tow veh is a turbo intercooled 4.2 Patrol. While the veh has a lot of mods done to it to inprove "off road" capability. I have done very little engine wise. In regards to engine mods, all I have done is a 3" exhaust which did make a vast improvment and yes I an happy with the veh for many reasons. If you wish to know more please feel free to email me or call me as I dont wish to start a debate on 4wds on here. Cheers
  3. That would be a great choice Chris ....... Thank you
  4. Hello All Thank you all for the best wishes for our adventure, we are certainly looking forward to making the most of it and hope to catch up with any of you who cross our path along the way. For those of you who have asked and PMed us ...... the beautiful spot is Wallabadah Rest area on the New England Hwy(NSW)about 70Kms south of Tamworth (site 181 in the camps 5 book). Merry Christmas all
  5. Thanks Wendy and Tony, Best wishes to you and your families also. We are heading to Qld breifly and then to Tassie. We are looking at going over around the 2nd week in Feb for 6-8 weeks. We must try and catch up.
  6. Well, it’s been 5 years in the planning and now the day has finally arrived.......... We have now started on day 1 of our adventure around, though, zigzagging and criss-crossing Australia for the next 12 months or so before we start our working holiday. So we will try and keep you posted on the mischief we get ourselves into. Night 1 has been fantastic as we found a very nice (and free) spot to settle in and have a camp fire and a few light refreshments (see attached pics) Cheers Steve & Kez
  7. Hello Rick & Lea, Do you really think we will need an umbrella and rain coats?? I was thinking Tarps, gum boots and snorkle with our track record Thanks for the Tassie tip and say hello to lea for us. By the way ....... where are you guys at the moment? Cheers
  8. Hello Mal & Kerry, We haven't down sized yet as we are still in the house until the 7th Nov (This Mon, But i can tell it is going to be a struggle as we work out what we "must take", "would like to take" and "fat chance of fitting that". It is all a big learning curve for us as this is our first van and very different to the camper. Hope to see you on the road
  9. Thank you all for the info. Any additional info will helpfull too
  10. Congats guys, We know just how you feel as Kez and I are the same ........... sold the business and just sold the house and are about to travel fulltime. Hope we get to cross paths. Good luck with your travels Cheers
  11. I can agree with Blinky Bill as I too had the GVM, Total combination GVM, Ball weight and tow capacity all upgraded on my GQ patrol by Lindsay Stone. I found him good to deal with and very helpfull
  12. Hi Nev and Penny, Congrats on picking up the new toy. We picked up our van about the same time last year and then went straight to the KOG Xmas party. It’s a long & brain filling special day I can tell you. Just relax and try and take in all the info you can. The guys at Kedron are great and look after you very well. Just remember ...... the policy is (so I’m told) the wife is responsible for everything inside and you are responsible for everything outside, so be patient as your wife has a look to remember, so just sit back , crack a beer and leave her to it. Enjoy the day day
  13. Hello All, Kez and I are starting our big loop once we get through Christmas. We are kicking it off with Tassie. We are thinking we might be there 4-6 weeks starting the 2nd week in Feb. I am sure you guys will be a wealth of knowledge and will be able to tell us all the "MUST SEE's". We would be greatfull for any info that can help us plan a great trip. Thanks Guys
  14. Swivel toilet hey??? I cant wait for the recliner model or the massage recliner model
  15. Hi Rob & Doris, Guys for what it’s worth, Kerry & I too went through this decision. We did the usual list of pro & cons and came up with the full ensuite. I don’t really understand the comment of wasted space as we have a mountain of cupboards in the ensuite and we felt the actual true difference in space was insignificant as most of the time is spent outside. We used a van that had a combined bathroom and found it to be a pain in the backside as we were forever packing and unpacking the toiletries, toilet roll etc when we showered and the floor (and most everything else) was continuously wet. I know some people will say “You just have to wipe it down with an old towel when you’re finished” and they are right .......... However I/we just found that to be bloody frustrating and that really was the clencher for us ......... full ensuite we went and I have to say we have no regrets. An added bonus was we had the diesel heater ducted to the ensuite and it makes for a fantastic drying room as whenever we use our van it rains (Doesn't it Rick & Lea) Good luck with your decision
  16. Danny & Sue, Fantastic idea ....... It will solve our issue as well, as we have the same noise. We knew that it was the batt charger but never came up with a solution except turn it off manually. Thank you
  17. Would any of you good folk know of any good bush camping spots that would be suitable for a couple of vans around the Clarence Town (NSW) or surrounding area? Your assitance would be appreciated
  18. I tend to agree with you Tony as the forum should be for general discussion, not for the promtion of peoples wares. Maybe they should also be charged a small fee to assist in the running costs of the website??? Which also leeds me to think maybe the website could have a select amount of sponsers to also offset the running costs. Just an additional thought
  19. Well I have avoided commenting on this topic as I beleive there are far more experienced people then I to know what works and what doese't but after watching this proper gander video clip I am compeled to put my 2 bobs worth in. In my vast working experience within the military and the mining industry, I have been involved with many (too many) sales people trying to sell the perfect product. They all want to present thier wares in the perfect enviroment and I have to say the products usually performs well for them under this situation. The BIG problem is that it never seems to go to plan in the real world. I'd like to see the same ease of hooking and unhooking in the paddock, on a slope/uneven ground and where the tow vehicle is not perfectly lined up with the trailer because the ground is uneven and at a different side angle to the trailer. Once done, move it to another location and then do it again and again because this folks is where we all have to deal with this product most of the time. I dont wish to be negitive on this product, I am sure it is a good thing, but show me/us the "Real World" stuff and you might get yourself some positive feedback. Thanks for listening folks, I will now stand down from the soap box. Love Steve
  20. If I was building another Kedron, I would install floaties and a couple of outbaord motors as every time we use it ...... It rains bigtime
  21. Well what can I say, Kez & I have come to the conclusion that we don't need weather gauges in our van as we just know when we use it ....... it's going to rain. So far we are at a 100% strike rate. We are removing the spare wheels and fitting a couple of outboard motors and makin ourselves a Kedron houseboat......... Ship Ahoy.........swab them decks Lea & Rick, we are finally home, we had a couple of nice days bush camping at Hawks Nest(No rain)on the way back. We would like to thank you guys for putting us up for the week. It was great to meet & get to know you guys. I hope we can return the favour (without the rain and flooding of coarse)when you head down this way in July. Thanks Guys
  22. Hi Colin, Mate it does sound like it could be a fuse. On our van the fuse for the fridge is hidden under the lid of the battery box (Battery No 3 I think). I looked everywhere for the bloody fuse and (unfortunatly for me) my wife read the instruction manual and it informed us where it was. (I hate it when wives do that as it destroys the adventure or discovery). Cheers
  23. Hello Fellow Kloggers, Kez & I are spending a week around the Styx River State Forret (Near Armidale) and Waterfall Way from June 11th - 19th. We hear there is a lot of good bushwalking tracks and a lot of great site seeing to be had. This is our first real use of our van since we picked it up in Nov (I hope we remember how everything works). If anyone has any info we would be glad to hear it or if anyone would like to join us they would be very welcome. Cheers
  24. Guys it looks good but doesn't look very ........"Kedrony" Keep up the progress Cheers
