Hi Brian , Kedron have only recently stopped replacing damaged front window bra's , I can only suggest that you try a local motor trimmer / upholsterer to replace . They would most likely require the old one as a template.

Hi Robbo , Have not had the experience of converting our cassette toilet to composting , but I notice their are a few conversations regarding this on perspective on Facebook pages , Kedron Caravan owners and also Kedron Owners Group . Just type 'composting toilets' in their search bar.

We are leaving in January for 3 months with our van , as an idea of costs , trip across is costing us $1214.00 for 2 adults , 1 twin bed Porthole , 2 x passengers private cabin ( Night Trip Across ) for a total length of car and van of 13.3 m . Return trip is $952.00 with 2 Recliner Chairs booked ( Day return Trip ) . We are hoping that 3 months will be enough . Also purchased a National Parks Pass for 12 months at a cost of $ 36.55 with seniors Discount .

We have had a few small holes appear in our awning , I simply squeezed/smeared clear silicone on the holes and allowed to dry . All good , this was done about 5 years ago and is still holding , with a slight yellowing in the area.

Thanks Bruce, that's fabulous. Our 9 yr old van is getting dust in too, I've tried every thing to keep some sort of pressure inside. We're on the other side of the country now after about 3,000 kms of dirt with the Plenty, Gary Junction Rd & Marble Bar to Newman in the past month, so I guess we'll be looking into 1 of these units when we get home in spring time. Meanwhile, it'll be more dust to put up with ? Sue n Rod

Hi Grant & Carol, we too have had to learn from the hard way despite reducing the tyre pressures etc :-( I'm sure everyone has different methods to save breakages & spills, but this is what we do...... In the fridge, any screw top jars / containers were bagged individually & twist tied, then placed into a basket.......if not bagged, they still tipped sideways to spill contents on rough roads. Flour, sugar etc go into Sistema or Lock n Lock containers. Spices for cooking go into a high side rectangle basket & when on rough roads gaffa tape goes across each row as they too unscrew on rough roads :-( If you have a metal catch on bottom of fridge doors where a screw can go into it....do so as the fridge doors will come open.......we've had spills there too when a wooden golf tee was used & broke. We try to pack things tightly on the fridge shelves too, but they do bounce around still. Under the sink things are placed into plastic boxes...lids off of course .....& packed tightly to eliminate movement. Spare stuff went into a large plastic container under the bed to make use of the space better & it keeps things together. cheers & happy travels without pantry / fridge issues when you open the doors Sue

I got this recipe from a Dr whom I worked with over 20yrs ago.....he says the recipe is Modified.....but am not sure where / why :-0 Ingredients 1 cup sultanas 1/2 cup raisins, chopped 1/2 cup glace cherries, also chopped 1/2 cup hazelnuts, chopped as well 250g cream cheese 1/2 cup icing sugar 2 tablespoons Tia Maria, Kahlua or Rum 1 six pack of stubbies, cold preferably Dessicated coconut 150g cooking chocolate Method Open a stubby and sip causally When composed, mix chopped sultanas, raisins and cherries in liquor and soak for 30 mins or until necessary to get the next stubby from the fridge. Add hazelnuts to mix. Mix softened cream cheese into fruit and nut mix, insuring to make a dreadful mess on table. Finish 2nd stubby and open 3rd. Take an enormous swig from stubby then add icing sugar, mixing well, then add melted chocolate. Allow mix to harden in fridge for 1 hr or so, giving oneself time to hop into next stubby. Remove bowl from fridge and with cold beer firmly grasped in 1 hand, roll mix into little balls, then roll these in the coconut. Put the cute little balls back in fridge then finish off the six pack and have a sleep. Enjoy as they are really delicious, but am not sure about the stubbies though..... Sue

Hi Ryan I can't answer you question directly, but other members here may comment on that they took their van in on the narrow & somewhat cut away 8 km track. Last year we made the choice to leave our van somewhere else & use a tent for the 2 nights there. (We also wanted to spend 2 nights tenting @ Captain Billy Landing & that track is written up as not suitable for caravans......there were several low hanging vines along this track that would hook up the airconditioner & the last 100 mtrs is a very steep slope down to the camp spot - but you could leave the can up the top in an overflow area) We left our van @ the Heathlands Reserve Ranger station (unmanned & locked gate on w/e's) free of charge in a beautiful big open area. Their ph no* is 07 4060 3241. On week days, this ranger station has a touch pad screen to book camp sites as well. Admittedly there was some extra driving to & from the Ranger station from Elliot / Twin Falls, but we had no hassles getting into the Falls campground by not having the van in tow. Most of the camp spots @ Elliot/Twin Falls are also very small & are bollarded off. There is 1 or maybe 2 larger spots for groups where a caravan could be parked in if you decide to take the van in. Hi Ian we didn't take an electric jug, but took an old copper based camping kettle with us on our 1st long trip......it got used a few times then went into the cupboard...... never to be used again....it still takes up space in our laundry cupboard with other unused camping gear. A saucepan replaced it.......for brekky we boil enough water for coffee's & have enough to wash up cups & cereal bowl.......in the same saucepan, not in a 1/2 filled sink of water.......with this method we saved on water & gas wastage. The dinner dishes use the hot water left in the heater tank from our late afternoon showers.....or we boil more water in a larger saucepan if we've used a caravan park shower :-) It's 1 less item in the caravan cupboards. We're about to acquire a 2nd hand coffee pod machine from our daughter.....but we're not sure yet if we'll put it in the van for when we go touring.....we only have a 300 watt inverter too.........but like many other vanners....things get upgraded :-) hope this helps a little cheers & happy touring Sue

It's also a method of recording my travels..done the 21st century way with loads of photos. It initially started as a project for family & friends to read & experience our journey, but since our 2011 tour, I've had 18,900 hits to my blog collectively from any where in the world - even North Americans. Hi Terry very pleasing to find like minded folk re the birds. I like your suggestions & I've already been saying where I saw the shown birds as I started typing in part 1 yesterday. Most birds are active early morning or mid to late afternoon. But those times aren't always possible when travelling unless we're staying in a place for > a day. I sometimes birded early before we packed up camp to move to another area. Some sites were en route in the heat. Others were after we arrived at a camp spot. I have a 15 page Word doc that I created from loads of hours of research from Eremaea eBird website. (Qld tour only) It has all my targeted birds & a few choices of places in which to find them. (If you or anyone else is interested in this rough doc, please drop me a PM.) I recommend using Eremaea eBird as a source of where to find a targeted bird for a particular time of the year. You will also find some folk will give a description of where to find a particular bird.....ie when looking for Carpentarian Grass wren I searched for said bird for say June to Sept. (for when I was in Mt Isa area) Most times I used 12 month old lists as a guiide, but found someone had listed the Carpentarian Grasswren 4 -6 wks earlier at a particular spot. I went to that area & was lucky enough to find that bird after a bit of searching around. (If you or anyone else needs help in searching for particular bird on eBird please send me a PM) I have been using Morcombe eGuide since mid 2011 & have been saving lists to the app since late 2012 of all the birds I see, matched with the places visited. I am then able to upload / email the lists to my computer to place onto an excel sheet. Sometime last year I also purchased app Pizzey & Knight - Birds of Australia. It is more expensive @ about $50, but I find it very useful if Morcombe doesn't give me enough info - ie immature cuckoos are better on Pizzey & Knight. After getting home I purchased a book "Finding Aust Birds" by Tim Dolby & Rohan Clarke where regions of each state are broken up & what birds are expected to find. I've been told another excellent book to have is Thomas & Thomas - which I've been told is more comprehensive Many thanks for the link to Gluepot.....I have it on my list of places to visit during our trip to SA & Vic via SW Qld, starting early July / August. I'm yet to start my research for this 4/12 trip. cheers Sue

Hello Everyone many of you will already know that Rod & I spent 4.5 months on the road in Qld last year. We took 6 wks to travel from Bris to Mossman. We spent 5 wks doing The Cape with not all areas visited there & stayed 8 days @ Loyalty Beach. After Atherton Tableland region, we headed out to The Gulf & then further west to Lawn Hill NP. We didn't spend much time doing inland / central or far west Qld - perhaps another time :-) We got home 1st week of Sept. I'm a mad keen bird watcher & this is why we took so long. (Rod probably read about 3 dozen books & went fishing where he could whilst I birded.) I have a blog that has taken me 6 mths to complete .....lol......(I'm still birding 3 days a week since getting home) There are 10 chapters starting from Oct 2014 & the last was finished last week. I do mention some camps, but my blog has loads of photos (perhaps 100 per chapter) with commentary about the area & what we saw.
