Thanks Pete for your valuable information We are regular users of Lawnton showgrounds so no problems there. Ian will arrive a day or two before I do so will be able to go shopping etc. hmmm.... Note to me - give him a list. Ian was trying to avoid having to tackle the traffic and park at the airport and though since we had managed to get from Lawnton to the caravan show on the train then I shouldn't have an issue. Here in WA the Perth terminal is notoriously hard when it comes to picking up people and we thought Brisbane might be the same. I honestly think that when the day arrives he will probably opt for picking me up. Thanks again. Sue

Finally............. The plan has been hatched. All is now booked and paid and we will arrive together on November 6th. Phew. After looking forward to coming across and telling everyone I had a message a couple of weeks ago from my friend in the USA whom I have never actually met. She reminded me of a conversation we had over a year ago where I stated I am always home in November when told she was coming through Geraldton for a day on a cruise ship. Ekkkk.... November 4! How to get from here to there (4675klms) in just a couple of days towing the caravan, nope, can't be done. I have pondered and procrastined over logistics for weeks, I thought I was going to have to call the trip off. THEN.... Ian suggested he bring the Kedron and I hop onto a flight as soon as she has visited. Living in Geraldton flights are normally mega expensive to get to Perth but I thought I would look up the cost anyway which I did. Turns out I could get a "reasonable" priced flight so it is now booked and Ian will set off from here around the 25th October, we will meet up at Lawnton. Now after reading all of this I am hoping some of you guys might know a bit about trains from the airport to Lawnton station. We have looked and it seems I might have to walk a kilometre or so from the domestic terminal to the international terminal as I arrive around 6.30pm on a Tuesday and trains don't run at that time from the domestic. I don't have much experience with public transport as we don't have it here so hoping one of you is knowledgable. looking forward to catching up. Sue

We will be making the trek across the Nullarbor for this event. I for one cannot stand the thought of missing out on all of the fun and excitement and after all it is only 4619 kilometres and according to Google Maps we can do it in just two days. Hmmm.... I am thinking more likely two weeks via Broken Hill, Cobar. 😊. Please pencil us in - Ian and I arriving the 6th and departing the 11th. Of course we will be having Saturday night dinner with everyone, can’t miss that either👍😊

It has been a long, long time since we were last a member and active on the forums. A lot of things happened at once and KOG went to the back burner I guess. Well now we are back and just like before I am the "forum" person behind the Ian and Sue name. Ian much prefers to do his own thing and let me chat on the forum, of course he expects to be informed of anything important. ha ha. We are still living in Geraldton WA even though we seem to spend best part of each year over east, mostly in Queensland. If I had my way, and if the housing market wasn't so bad here, we would be selling up and moving over - probably to the RV Homebase. Early in 2018 we were on our annual trek across the Nullabor heading to one of our geocaching events when only 60 kilometres from home we smashed our front window cover. Well....... eventually we arrived at the Kedron factory to buy another, which actually did happen BUT..... While there we took a tour around and checked out all the new innovations etc. We got as far as Gympie going north to Cairns when Ian asked whether I would like a new Kedron. He didn't need to ask twice! We turned back and ordered an XC5. Lucky for us somebody wanted to change their collection date, probably because it was right on Christmas so we jumped in quick and said put us in the slot. We continued on to Cairns in our trust old ATV2 but sickness in the family had me flying home a couple of times the last of which we decided I should stay back West, that was when I came upon someone in Geraldton wanting to buy a Kedron. Ian no sooner arrived home and our Kedron was gone. Three months without it nearly killed me. 🙂 We headed across in our RAM with our rooftop tent and collected our new Kedron just ten days before Christmas, we stayed over east for the next eight months and have only just arrived home. I am already working on getting across to the Christmas event, I must say Ian seems pretty keen too. Oh if only it wasn't 4500 kilometres from here, the RAM is much more economical to run than the LC200. ha ha ha... AND... you guys always have so much fun. Yes, I just have to make the trip. FOMO.... See I am right up there with the modern lingo. OK time to stop rambling here. It is great to be back. Sue

Ours goes in its weber BabyQ bag under the bed. I always clean it before putting away, I guess I should also mention we don't eat meat so not much fat about. ?

Hi all. Our LC200 30th anniversary with 3" lift tows our Keddy with a loaded weight of just a needle under 3tonne at around 20l per 100 kms. Ian works the stats our from our scan gauge and that includes all the stop starts, sitting idling etc. When we are on long runs we can easily do around 17.5. Like Tony, Ian and I have competitions to see which of us can get the lowest fuel consumption for a run. We generally sit between 95 - 100kkph. Cheers Sue

Sounds like exciting times ahead! :-) Two things that I would insist on having in a new Kedron (from the wife point of view) - 1. A SOG on the toilet 2. A diesel heater. I have had Ian retro fit both and am in caravanning heaven now. :-) I am an ex north-west gal and have never acclimatised to much below 20C :-)

Welcome Greg & Mary and congratulations on your decision to purchase a Kedron caravan. It should give you many years of happy memories and when you read through our forum I am sure you will find some of the trips our members have reported upon to inspire you further. I am the non technical partner in our marriage so will leave commenting on your questions to some of our other members who are much more conversant. I will bet you cannot wait until April to get your hands on your new aquistion - do you plan to stay on the mainland and start your journey straight away? When you do make it over to the West coast please look us up as we love meeting other Keddy owners in person. Cheers Sue

Ian replaced ours with an LED globe a year or so ago with no problems. We could finally see in the fridge, a fantastic move.

We had been looking forward to catching up with some of you on our trip up the east coast but unfortunatley we find ourselves having to make an unexpected trip back to WA. Hi Chris - Good to read that you were able to hit the road for Brisbane. We hope you aren't getting to wet along the river, we have seen a far bit of rain now and the novelty is starting to wear off for us. :-) We don't mind thought as long as the folks that need rain are receiving it. We are starting to notice that the ground were we are isn't like back home and when it rains it turns to this black stuff, I think you call it MUD! :-) Do have a fantastic trip and please post some of your wonderful photos so that we can all share your adventures. A note to let our members who maybe being impacted by these terrible bushfires know that we are thinking of you at what must be a really horrible time.

In have had our cafe dinette covers in the machine a few times now with no problems, washed on the regular cycle. They feel tight when replaced but soon "give" and everything is like new again.

I am soooooo jealous. I wish we lived on you side of the big paddock. As usual a wonderful read and love the photos too,. Thanks Rod and Mavis

Merry Christmas and a safe and Happy New Year everyone :-) As some already know we had been intending to take off last October for another around Oz trip which was to last at least a year. Unfortunately that has had to be postponed, I can tell you I am really disappointed as Ian had fitted the SOG especially for me! :-) We are still hoping that we can make it over to the next big Geocaching event in SA at Easter but again at the moment even that might not be possible we just have to wait and see how things go with Ian. We can but live in hope that all good things do come to those who wait and I am sure that will be the case for us, at least we are home to look after the garden for the long hot Geraldton summer! :-) Again safe travels and have a wonderful festive season whatever you may be doing. Love to see the before and after photos Gordon and Chris. Did you change the colors in the van or where they able to match the original with the new?

Our son bought me a dreampot a couple of years back it is the big one with two pots in it. We don't eat meat so have only used it once to cook one of the focaccia recipes in the book and I also tried some chicken breast and veges. It seemed to me that I could cook our usual fare in the more than 25 minutes it took for he pot to boil and do its thing. I was cleaning the pantry the other day and found it and thought about what a waste it is to never use it but I don't want to load it into the van if I aren't going to use it. has anyone else had experience with one? Perhaps someone could suggest where I might be going wrong. Are they best for people who eat meat? I did buy the little loaf tins to go into it but once they arrived I found that you can't put both in at once anyway.

Hi again Chris and Lyn We (read Ian) recently had cause to take our Vitrofrigo out of its housing - it didn't have much dust in the cavity we had expected a lot more given that it had been down some pretty dusty tracks. Ours is on the drivers side of the van with the double vents and sits over the top of the water heater probably just like yours. Our friends are permanent caravaners who spend all of their time hunting geocaches - they made a similar device to mentioned above to pressurise their van and swear by it. We used to have a scupper hatch in our old Coromal which did the same thing, I am surprised that Kedron don't have them as they work really well too, just have to remember to lift the hatch when you hit the dirt. I expect you already have all of these but thought I would mention it just incase you haven't. We have tie down points welded to the frame of our Keddy as we lived in the Pilbara for a number of years they are needed during the cyclone season for when you go onto an alert. You need chains to do the tiedown. Also don't forget to take a couple of good long heavy duty tie down straps to throw over the top. Another trick when you aren't near to tie down points, we had four around the edge of our driveway, is to dig your wheels in so that the wind can't get under your caravan. Sorry if this sounds a bit drastic and basically it rarely happens but it is better to have a plan than not to have a plan. Enjoy your stay in Beagle Bay we have many happy memories of times up there.

Hi Chris and Lynn. We, like others have taped the vent on the bottom of our door as we have a rear door and that is a spot where the dust likes to enter. We also used an excellent idea that Rod and Mavis gave us some time back and that is to place a threaded poly pipe over the external exhaust vent from the stove, we screw a poly lid on when going down the dirt and take it off for other times. This is of course only of interest if you have a stove on the rear wall of your van. In 2012 we travelled the road from Cape Crawford to Roper Bar and despite all of the bull dust one good thing I can say for our van is with those two modifications she never let in the slightest of dust. Hmmm.. I stand corrected... I did forget to shut the back window properly and when we stopped for morning tea after the first 50 kilometres of dirt we spent the rest of the day literally shovelling dust out but that was my fault. Do let us know were you are travelling in WA, we may well be in the vicinity and be able to catch up. Sue

Thanks Leslie and Peter for your replies. Leslie - The caravan forum was were I researched the correct paint. I then headed off down to Bunnings and asked questions. I know you can only use certain paint on the panel finish and was shown the correct prep etc. if I do it I will try a sample first to make sure it is going to look professional. Peter I think the resale value would likely be more affected by the water marks. Ian has now fixed the leak it was caused by a buckle that can't be seen in the exterior panellings join. The water ran along and came through dependant upon how the van was levelled so the is more than one place with damage otherwise I might be able to live with it. Unfortunately for us the only other way to fix the interior is to replace all the wall panels down the drivers side of the van which is pretty impossible because they we put in before the cupboards and we would have to literally gut the van.

I should start out by saying that Ian is pretty much against my latest idea but when has that ever stopped me. :-) Our Kedron has suffered quite a bit of damage to the wood panelling interior due to several very bad leaks. It seems the water only has to get in and the surface of the veneer comes away very quickly. Unfortunately for us after thinking we had the problem fixed we hit a really heavy rain one night and I had left a jumper sitting on the side table by the bed, after all the water leaked in it soaked my jumper and by the morning had lifted an awful lot of the veneer. You probably get the picture. Anyway, I did some research and found that we could buy a sealer for the laminate and also a special laminate paint which is made for this type of job. Ian thinks it is just going to look a lot worse than it does now painting the walls an off white color. Has anyone tried this and were you happy with the results? Our walls at present are the light woodgrain style and I have no intention of painting the cupboards. Cheers Sue
