  1. Hi Fieldsie. We are going to Tassie on the 27th January next year. We booked & paid for our trip on 27th February this year at a cost of $1039 We are driving a Chev Silverado towing a 18'6 (inside) TE with an extended draw bar, as we are over length(14.30 mtrs.) we had to trick the booking computer,we decided to go over as day trippers which has saved a considerable amount of money. As yet we have not booked a return trip but will be flying back to Brissie Easter week for G/Daughters 18th. As we have unlimited time our return will be determined by weather etc. Happy safe travelling. Sue
  2. Hello to all. We are looking into ways of improving our internet reception when out in the back woods. We came across an article about the G Spotter antenna (www.broadbandantennas.com) & were wondering if anyone knows anything about them. Safe travelling. Sue.
  3. Hello All. Last year we purchased from Bunnings a Solar/Sensor/Security light, there were several to choose from. We have mounted it at the back door of our house, it is not brilliant, it at least shows the way to where the key lock is. Safe travelling. Sue.
  4. Hi All. We have a 07-08 2500 8 cylinder Silverado towing an 18.6 T.E. Have just received our rego renewal for $1092.90 if paid by due date. Our vehicle is registered for private use it was registered for commercial( we have bobcat etc.) but found it to too expensive to drive through toll gates/ gateway etc. Graham recently fitted the Hitch Easy which we brought from a company in Melbourne, we brought 2( 1 for someone else) & paid $845 no delivery. The van seems to connect/tow easier not that we have done many miles since fitting. We have looked into having the van upgraded to 4 ton, by an engineer but have decided to leave it registered at 3.5ton. When we brought our Chev we didn't require a LR Lisence the new chev's are heavier & now require that lisence. Hopefully this will answer some of the questions. Safe Travelling. Sue.
  5. Hello All. We have the 2500 Silverado, which we drive on a C class lisence. Does your Silverado have dual wheels. Best Wishes. Sue
  6. Merry Christmas to all KOG'ers May Santa be nice to you all. Happy safe travels, lets all gather in 2011. Best Wishes. Graham & Sue.
  7. Pretty astonising information. Remember back to when we wanted to clean pennies, we would put them in a dish of Coke( rot gut they used to call it). The only way to drink Coke if with additives, the alcoholic type namely Rum, Scotch, Burbourn what ever is your choice. Best Wishes. Sue.
  8. Hi All, When we had our Discovery and we were going to The Top End towing a Camp-o-matic off road camper, I went to a local supplier of Persplex with the pattern of back window of car, he cut persplex to pattern, I then purchased HEAVY DUTY velcro dots which I stuck to back window 3-4 inches apart, these worked well none came off but the dirt would get between two layers but was easily removed and cleaned, when we came home I removed the persplex , leaving dots on car. I found dots worked better than longer strips. Best wishes. Sue. Happy safe travellling.
  9. Hello to all KOG'ers Would someone please tell me where to purchase the alfoil type reflective sun shields? We went away last week, with the car parked in the sun all day it got very hot inside. Happy safe travelling. Kind Regards. Sue.

Saturday 3rd January for a week, we are heading to Lake Coolmunda near Inglewood if any one is near there, they are more than welcome. We camp along the dam not in the caravan park. Look for a Blue Chev and a T.E. Safe travelling. Sue & Graham.

  14. Hi to all KOG members. We picked up our Top Ender on Monday. ordered on 26-6-07. and received on 16-06-08, unfortunately it was not ready before the show, but as we had plans for the long week-end (mothers 85 birthday), was not an issue not being ready. Good things are worth waiting for. Ben did the hand over knows his stuff, as we have never had a van before can't remember half of what he told us, I asked for the video and was told it is in the pipeline ...next project apparently. Will have to rely on friends who have vans to fill in the gaps for us, trial and error.....fun times ahead. Was poked and prodded by the family, and grand kids last night, the grand kids have opened all door drawers etc many times, have decided where they are sleeping etc, begging to come tripping with us at the first opportunity reminding us school holidays are very close. Some friends with a pop top Jayco, were here yesterday and have decided what they will have in and under their next van. The oldest Daughter and Husband have a 26 ft Spaceland, their 3 kids reckon Nan & Pop's van is pretty cool. Other friends with a York will be here tonight, bringing bottle of Champs to christen van. We will have a chance on week-end to work everything out. Will probably arrange Kitchen drawers etc and rest of van and will change everything around first trip out. We are going to Kenilworth next month with the group. That will be a good test for both T.E. and Chev ute which we haven't done many K's in, due to that elusive gold lotto. We will be leaving home on Thursday 3 July(advantage of being self contained camp anywhere), to take the Chev to dealership in Gympie, for adjustment, on Friday morning, and then on to Kenilworth. Happy safe travelling. Sue. Wanna-B.
  15. Hello to all KOG members. We ordered the UHF from Gawler at approximately 11am Monday [Yesteday] for $403 total price freight inclusive. The radio arrived about 11am Tuesday, certainely can't complain about the aervice,. Have ordered Truck parts over the years from all over Australia and are used to waithing for days even weeks. Our TE is in the final stages of production and could be ready next week. Happy safe travelling Sue WANNA-B
  16. Hello to all KOG. members. Graham and I have been looking at UHF radios for a while, and had decided we liked the GME TX3440 the idea of being out of sight appeals. We had planned to look at the show as we also had a quote from WOW being the chapest, the aerial question had been raised, we would be interested to know how your unit/aerial etc performs. CV Tripper we live on the south side of Brisbane, might be able to catch up some time.!! Went to KEDRON our TE should be getting the cladding, eledctrical and cupboards all fitted, on track for delivery before the show. Happy travelling. Sue. WANNA-B
  17. Hi Dave & Shell, Welcome to the KOG group. As we have a TE currentley under construction (saw chaassis the other day), we have not been on any trips yet, but hope to in the future. First trip will probably be to Gladstone this year. Safe travelling. Graham & Sue.
  18. Thankyou Sid Fish for your reply. With so many products and varied prices, which one is the "proper stuff'. Happy safe travelling. Regards . Sue.
  19. Hello to all KOG members, Have been reading with interest comments about different ground matting. We were told recently that some caravan parks will only allow you to use environmentally friendly mats that allow the grass to grow and not die under the mat. We don't often stay in caravan parks preferring the isolated places, hence the purchase of TE, but thought we would ask if anyone knows this to be correct. Stan phoned me on Monday to say our chassis has arrived, they will start our van soon, June o7 (ordering date),was a long time ago. Happy safe travelling. Best Wishes. Sue & Graham.
  20. Hello to all KOG members. Hope you all had a good Easter break, and safe travelling. Have been reading about these Vacuum toilets, no chemicals, save water, more efficient. Has any one got any experience with these units? When we had a Bedford motor home years ago,it had a toilet system which used chemicals and then burnt off, on the exhaust when under load, thereby minimising the amout of emptying. I have not spoken to to Stan yet so don't know if suitable to be installed in the Kedron vans. We received the Chev in early March, have only done 1800k.have only been for local runs Moogerah dam,Gold Coast via Tamborine Mtn. nice to drive, but have to be aware of the bigger size for parking etc. Different to drive to the trucks(26ton) and now Hino 6 ton,(both cab over) which we are used to driving, have not towed anything yet, will be good when we get cameras on front as well as back, the bonnet is large to see and judge front left corner. Best wishes, Safe travelling. Sue & Graham.
  21. Possibly!! the final choice of our van which we ordered 26/6/07,we went back and saw Stan this week and went over our original van plans and came home with this plan. The van should be delivered before the June Show.Because we are getting a Chevy we are now trying to source wheels etc. for the van to suit the Chevy so all are interchangeable. Happy travelling. Graham & Sue. Van_layout.pdf
  22. Hello everyone. We are looking for Off Road insurance for our T.E. as well as our Chevy ute. Most companies we have rung will insure one or the other, but when we mention an importted vehicle they change tack. Were hoping to get a package for both. Has anyone got any suggestions? We would appreciate any input. Thankyou Sue & Graham. :helpsmilie:
  23. Brian & Lis, We ordered our van in June 07 and we're hoping to receive it in April!!! We chose 18.6 Top End and made alterations on day of order but have more penciled in,for when we go back and see Stan. As yet we have not chosen colours etc draw or cupboard layout for Kitchen area, which is across the back of van we are open to to suggestions with regard to layout. If you have a pamphlet we have chose the 18'x7'6'(6).with queen bed, raised to give more under bed storage and length in the bed utilising the shelf behind for pillows, no(11) has the extra lift up bench which we also have ordered our lounge has a back support at the end also a small hatch under near the door. We are not getting the BBQ so are not having the extra drawer underneath. We live in Logan and plan to go to the factory sometime after they re-open 17th January. Happy safe travelling. Regards. Graham & Sue.
  24. Hello. Our names are Graham & Sue. We like so many others started with a tent for two. moved along to a tent for five, somewhere along the way, we moved up to a Starcraft motor home on a CF Bedford truck (early 80's), which we used for holidays until the billy lids all left home. We have been to Cooktown, to Emerald and north to Winton, down south to the Snowy's,west through NSW to Riverina country, plus lots of local trips. We bought a Land Rover Discovery in 1996 and replaced the motorhome with a Camp-0-Matic off road camper trailer in 97,since then we have done a bit of off road travelling (and playing) to Weipa, Cape York and a bit (Thursday Island.)central QLD, to Anakie fossicking for Sapphires ( found a few) and a few local trips. Wanting to up grade back to a bit more comfort and after doing the rounds at the Show, we thought about which company to buy from and finally settletd on a 18.6 Top Ender which we ordered at the end of June 07, and are patiently waiting for. On a day trip last year to Big Riggin,we met some of your members and were welcomed into their camp and invited to join the group for future gatherings. We have been reading your Forum since we registered as a member and find the comments very interesting, have put the address into our favourites. Once we receive our van and start to travel we will find the web site and links very useful, hopefully we will be able to contribute to the forum. Happy travelling. Regards. Graham & Sue.
