  1. Hi John & Julie We live a little down the coast from you at Tea Gardens. We have an excellent repair centre here who covers mechanical & auto electrical work. His name is Rod Blanch from Tea Gardens Auto Electrics & Mechanical PH 4997 2560. He has done a lot of work for me over the years and has also worked on vans for friends here and is highly recommended. If you happen to be travelling this way call in on us and if needs be you are welcome to o'nite as we have heaps of room either side with power and water. Give us a call if we can help in any way. 0407041479. Geoff
  2. Ian,We had problems in that we couldn't get a matching bolt from any trailer manufacturer. We contacted Sheree at Hyland in Brisbane and she sent us a couple of replacement bolts by mail. Cost was about $5 + postage. Contact Phone number is 07 32006261 Email hylandcouplings@optusnet.com.au Delivered in a couple of days to us in Tea ardens NSW. Hope this helps if you cannot get the right fitting in WA. Regards Geoff
  3. Thanks for that Deb, I have been one of the culprits. We are on track to be in Brissie early July and look forward to meeting you and picking up the Rock Tamers. Either the 5th or 6th at the moment. Regards Geoff
  4. Hi Gary & Kaye. One thing we do when in the van at night for a bit more security is to insert a security chain on the door similar to ones you see in motel rooms. We also make sure that laptops and cameras go with us when we leave the van. TV's and sat dishes and set top boxes stay but we try and not leave our van in any isolated spots on its own. Another thing is to have a small chain and lock on metal jerry can lids to prevent opening and being siphoned. A lock on the hitch is also always there if we leave as well. If we not happy with a camp we move and we have done this a few times when concerned with some of the campers behaviour around us. Better to be safe than sorry. Geoff
  5. JK Re mould on sealant on roof. I have used a bleach soution with success. Not too strong and a soft brush does the trick. Leave it on for 5-10 minutes before hosing off and make sure you wash down where the water/bleach runs down the walls etc. Regards Geoff
  6. Hello all. Joy & I wish you all compliments of the season and trust you have safe and enjoyable festive activities. We are off to Tassie for 3 weeks to visit the kids minus the XC but she has had a good workout during 2010 and nedds a rest Hope to catch up sometime in 2011. Best wishes from THe Burgess's
  7. Hi Farmer. We have an east west bed with rear wardrobe and we always use the reverse system ie engage from the rear of van. No wrinkled cloths unless its my turn to iron!!
  8. Hi Brian I have the wheris16 which i fitted last march. Compared to my whereis 12 its heaps better with updates covering OZ from the 2009 UBD. We Travelled down to Ceduna up the centre to Karumba then over to the coast and back to home to Newcastle We were never without map guidance and points of interest and all highway upgrades. Pity about the price but i'm glad i spent the $$$$. Geoff B
  9. We had a problem also and found that the switch on top of the fan was not popping up to activate it. Put a spray of WD40 on the switch and give it a few pushes and it should kick in ok. Need a ladder to get to the switch.
  10. Hi Bruce, Re jacking of A T V We have a 3.5 ton X C 19'6 and have had no difficulty jacking with the trailermate hydrolic jack come jocky wheel. We carry sections of timber to lift the jack to a suitable height to lift the van. Regards Geoff.
  11. Hi Ian Smkey Bay is a great spot and Sreaky Bay is a even better. The fishing is pretty good in both areas and if you like oysters you shouldn't miss seeking out the farmers in the industrial estate in smokey Bay. The holiday rush should be over by the time you get there. Also if you have time drop into Cowell as the fishing and crabing in particular is fantastic. Geoff N Joy Burgess.
  12. Thanks Jock & Rhonda for a fabulous 5 days. The tours and the meals were fantastic and the "BOWLS" were terrific. Pam Barry must take the prize for her aim and precision in getting the jack on the run and into the ditch. If you find an orange yachting rain coat in the shed i think i left it there.Sorry to hear about the mess left as the pretty pink circle at the dump point was quite obvious. ( 99.9 out of a hundred for a great K O G.gathering.Geoff & Joy Burgess
  13. We have a suburban 240 x gas hws fitted to our 2006 19'6 int xc. Kedron didn't want to fit it because they said we would have problems in the dust with the electics. However as we had no problems with our previous van of 8 years we insisted and they obliged. We have now done 35000km with quite a bit on dusty roads we have not had any problems. The benefit of not having to use the gas in caravan parks is a plus as you always have plenty of hot water on tap at all times. When off road as we do quite a lot we put the gas on for approx 7 minutes and the water is plenty hot enough for showers and you don't have to sacrifice water mixing hot & cold.We have now been away 10 months on this trip currently in Tassie and all's well except for the cold.Geoff
  14. Hi all .We are now in Tassie for 2 months in the 9th month of our around O Z trip expecting to be home early June. So far on this trip with our L C 100 Sahara (2.86 ton)and our 19'6 int X C (3.56 ton) at the recent weigh in, we have travelled 23,000 km with a fuel bill of $7530.00.The sahara has done 123,000 km and all of which has been done with a Hi-Clone fitted as we had good results with a Hi-Clone on our previous 80 series 4.5 ltr Manual. We are not keeping km x ltrs used as we get a continued update on average consumtion per tank on the sahara's computer. On average we are achieving 22.5 to 24 ltrs per 100 km depending on terain but can get up to 28 ltrs with strong headwinds as we did crossing the Nullabor. We did get 20.5 ltrs per 100 on a couple of tanks down the west coast with a big tail wind. The highest fuel prices were in remote W A and the Nullabor @ $1 79 per ltr. We tow at arond 90 - 100 and only in 4th gear as we have proved by our computer readout that 4th gear is more ecanomical than 5th and the cruiser seems smoother however i do slip into 5th if we have a good downhill run or on the flat with a good tail wind. Well having said all that i do envy those who are moving to the 200 TTD's but a changeover from an immaculate 5 year old Sahara with all the bells and whistles will buy me heaps of the fuel i use over the TD. happy travelling Geoff & Joy Burgess
