  1. Russ obviously has all the knowledge that Kedron owners need, so good luck with your AGM setups, knowing we are camped near you boiling the kettle, using the electric oven and A/C on LiFePO4..... but obviously using an inferior technology... Pleased don't start that noisy generator up to use the microwave to cook dinner like have have seen many do... My offer is still there is anyone is serious about wanting help. david@trip-tracks.com.au
  2. I can counter every single one of those arguments and then provide some extra features that sounds like would surprise you. And no, I don't sell batteries. And proven? Seriously? How long do you get out of your AGMs? And lugging 4 x 120AH at 32kgs each around (128kgs) unnecessarily to only get 240Ah usable capacity. What is with that? I know, I did it - but have wised up. Can you boil your kettle when your battery is down to 20%, what about 50%. Can you do it at all??
  3. I'm not sure where I conveyed an untoward tone, so why I was targeted for this thread being locked. So here it is now. Yabbietol, I have been on this forum longer than you and provided useful info - but obviously you have something more positive to offer and are more knowledgeable. To me it appears you don't want to hear that you haven't got the best in your outdated AGM batteries. I'll refrain from this forum in future and leave you to your myths and misconceptions. Good luck!
  4. The cost? What is the cost you are referring to? What charger are you referring to needing replacing? Most programmable chargers are suited to Li
  5. That is a myth. Enerdrive are only knew to the market, and have had issues with their chargers. And at over 3 times the price of the cost of cells elsewhere, I know where I wouldn't buy cells..
  6. Chris, it is false economy. While the AGM batteries state 120AH, they only measure to be usable to about 60AH, so a 130AH gives you an extra 5AH - big deal! When you are ready for Lithium, let me know, You won't go back.... When you have the stated AH capacity available for use and the voltage is +13V all the way, then you have something to be happy about. And 1/3 the weight.... and 4-5 times the lifetime.
  7. I would question your SOC meter. How are you determining that? If you are using the solar controller, then it would not be accurate as the load would not be connected to be measured on a van of your vintage. Are you sure you are getting a full charge each day? 13.2V in full sun is not 97% SOC for AGM batteries.

  9. Bruce, where is your wall insulation?
  10. Hi Hugh, Is the winegard socket in the same cupboard? That has 12V running to it. If you undo the cover you should be able to piggy back off that.
  11. Has he said why? Maybe he is trying to say not doubled up on your light circuit or something? The SatKing box pulls about 0.5A, so you shouldn't have any voltage drop issues. The Sphere satellite box only needs power while it is deploying and closing - once done, it automatically turns itself off, so no power used once deployed. I haven't measured the current while deploying, will do if you need me to. Who is the "SatKing guy"? I have the satellite dish box and the SatKing box on the same 12V circuit, which is a subcircuit off the battery. I put an inline switch on the 12V lead to both boxes so I can isolate the power while travelling so there is no danger of the dish auto deploying, but that's just me. If you have a 12V circuit handly near where you want to install the boxes, I suggest you use that - the Winegard circuit is more than adequate (that's what I used).
  12. Looks good, Tony. (Except I don't like that bracket on the roof that Kedron make - it lifts the dish even further off the roof.) A couple of hints for you: I found the double sided tape that comes with the remote infrared sensor isn't good quality - ours fell off the underside of the cupboard on the first day. I replaced the tape with "scotch exterior mounting tape" which is much stronger and withstands humidity etc http://www.bunnings.com.au/3m-scotch-heavy-duty-exterior-mounting-tape_p3978296 What did you use to cover the cables that came through the roof? I used an external electrical box with individual cable glands for each cable. With the box sikaflexed to the roof. If you have just put the cables straight through the roof and then siliconed up, keep an eye on it as water will track down the cables. It only takes a tiny pin hole and you have a leak you will chase forever (from experience). I'd suggest supporting the cables in pic 4 otherwise corrugations will see the crimped plugs come loose. Some small clips will help tidy up the loose cabling hanging down from under the cupboard for the remote sensor. The same clips could be used to support the cables from the dish (point 3). http://www.bunnings.com.au/smart-100mm-mounting-cable-tie-25pk-ctm100w_p4430487 or http://www.jaycar.com.au/productView.asp?ID=HP0756 (but in black if you can find some) Did you change the plugs so both work on 12V? Saves running the inverter. Good job! Not too hard is it? Enjoy the system, mate! Mine has been on some pretty rough corrugated roads and no problems at all.
  13. I had one for 7 years - just sold it this year, so no not at this moment. Didn't know you had to to post in the public forum. And I believe there are also a number of financial members who no longer own Kedrons - perhaps even committee members, so I don't see how this is relevant?
  14. Not sure if you are all aware, but there are other forums where you don't need to be a financial member and where you can voice your concerns or discuss any issues openly without being censored. Try this one: http://caravanersforum.com/viewtopic.php?f=106&t=54239
  15. Whynot, looks like you'll have to join and pay your membership to be able to see responses to your own thread. As would I, but I won't...
  16. Wow, not sure why the attack on Bill, just a polite response would be fine. I did have a look at the page - seems it's not really offroad but more input from bushtrackers to me. Still, there is some useful snippets. Anyway, who wants the rivalry to be diluted? It's all part of the fun!
  17. I can't say I agree with you there, Steve. I towing 4.5t around with an F450 and it feels like a luxury car to me!
  18. Use the wiring that came with the dish, Tony. Did you leave the TV aerial installed? The Sphere dish is dual LNB, so there are two coax cables plus a control cable. I cut the end off the control cable plug and re-terminated to avoid all of the looped excess cable - just take a pic before you do this if you decide to go this way. I also cut the coax cables to the correct size and re-terminated. The installation manual is pretty straight forward and reliable.
  19. No, I don't mind at all. Many that I have spoken to (and not just Kedron owners) really know the answers to these questions. And it's not their fault - they aren't trained to think this way - so I'm happy to help where I can.
