  1. Jeez Colin Me Too! But have you seen a photo of her lately? Even worse than we look....
  2. Michael Thanks for nothing is not a really great response to someone who is trying to point you in the right direction to answer your query. That is not the KOGGERS way!
  3. Yeah Tony, We all understand that you were just showing them how not to do it. Regards John PS: When I was a kid I remember being with my father and uncles net fishing at Barkers Rocks in winter. There was lots of Stones Green Ginger and rum involved around the beach camp fires. No one wanted to be on the deep end of the net!
  4. Hi there Andrew Love your new Avatar depicting Haddon Corner. What a great camp spot but alas I seem to remember having a few problems finding my way home. Must have been caused by the cataracts I'm about to have surgery on. Regards John (with tongue in cheek)
  5. Hi Nev, Ours was serviced by Caravan RV Works now at 12-14 Enterprise Street Kunda Park Qld Ph 07 5445 6662 (previously at Forest Glen). In addition to the service we had a fuel filter fitted. At $470 all up it wasn't cheap but as I said before all is good now. Dometic recommended them as the closest service agent to us. Regards John
  6. Wow Glen, No wonder Kedron doesn't fit them. We've had our Dometic diesel heater since the van was new 5 years ago and we are completely happy with it. No problems until last year when it began to smoke a lot on start up. We had it serviced and all is good again. While at Tamworth last April we had it on all night on several occasions and I am still amazed at the little diesel it uses. Cheers John
  7. G'day Hermit, When it's really cold and damp down south we leave our diesel heater on very low all night. We wake up warm with no condensation. Have never used the aircon on heat so don't know if the result would be the same.
  8. Hi Colin, I was at the factory last Tuesday and Tom told me about the service but he quoted $650! I didn't ask for any details as I had Vehicle Components service the brakes, bearings, etc. last year after our return home. They charged $312 so it's probably not apples for apples. Regards John
  9. Hi Carl and Tricia, We also had the same problem. Ours was solved by replacing the connector cable between the tug and van. Regards John
  10. Hi There Rich & Miss Lizzie, Like yours our 21Ft ATV is parked in our driveway. This was our first van so we thought it would be good to use a cover but still utilise the 3 solar panels. We had a cover made by Caravan Covers Australia at Warana 1300 304 332. We had 3 solar panel windows (PVC or whatever)and a fridge vent panel so that we could leave the Vitrifrigo running as many Koggers recommended. We soon realised that with the cover on the temperature in the van was so high it was not sensible to leave the fridge running and we now turn it off when at home (cover on or not). Before our van we had 2 camper trailers, both with deep cycle batteries so we are always very conscious of not letting the voltage drop below about 12.4. Our original 3 batteries only lasted 2 years before they were finished (a nice way to say what I really mean). Since buying our new Full River batteries January 2012 whenever we are home we now leave mains power connected. The voltage stays at 13.8 and all is good. We also run the Genny for a short time most mornings while free camping to top the batteries right up. To sum up, given our time again we would not bother to have a cover and even if we did it would be a simple and cheap one with no solar panel windows etc. We would also leave the mains power connected at all times (as we do). This is simply our opinion based on our experience and as with everything "experts" may refute everything we have said.
  11. Oops of course I meant our Hyland hitch.
  12. Wow I've just looked at the You Tube on the Kedron site for the above which was due for release this month. How easy does that make hitching up! I'm happy with our Hayman Reese but when we order our next Kedron we will surely have the McHitch Auto Coupler. The number of domestics this hitch will probably prevent will no doubt be amazing.
  13. Thanks CV Tripper, How surprising, they only featured Motor Homes. What a great reputation they have!
  14. Damn, Just logged on to the forum at 7.27pm just in time to miss it. Happy New Year John & Maureen
  15. Merry Xmas Colin, Gayleen & all of our other Kogger friends, Looking forward to catching up again in the new year.
  16. Hi All, Our 2009 ATV had the same fix as Rick's but we still had drawers on the floor after travelling on rough roads. Not those drawers!!! the ones holding cutlery etc. Anyway the problem was that there was a gap of about 6mm between the bottom of the front of the drawer and the small pieces of wood. I removed the pieces of wood and reattached them up about 6mm and in contact with the drawer. No more problems as the drawers can no longer bounce up and down on rough roads. Since the fix we have done the Outback Way, Oodnadatta, and Birdsville tracks with no more problems. There is more than one way to skin a cat but I found this simple and easy and sure beats packing the drawers with cushions or whatever to try and achieve the same result (no bounce).
  17. Hi There Hermit, I would be very reluctant to remove one of the spares. We have just returned from travelling the Outback Way with Tolley and the other wonderful fellow travellers. No problems on the trip nor when we did the Oodnadatta or Birdsville tracks...but on the black top between Morven and Mitchell a tyre blew. Within 100 metres it wasn't something you could repair and carry on with. If it had happened early on out in the outback it would have been a worry with say 1,200km ahead of us. Like John we have the same wheels on the van as our tug so plenty of backup but you never know when ..it happens! Enjoy the journey John & Maureen
  18. Hi Andrew & Sally, We're now at Kingaroy having spent the last 5 days camping at Lake Broadwater (near Dalby) with Maureen's brother and his wife. Great place and the weather was superb. Yesterday we drove to Tara to see the Camel and Yabby races. It was great fun and we couldn't believe how many people were camped there for the 3 day event. Sadly we will arrive home tomorrow to face the big clean-up. Cheers John & Maureen
  19. Bloody Hell Get the message HV8. We stayed there in 2011 and it was a great experience.. We want to come back again and we love the training you do for the local people. It was great to be served by such lovey young people
  20. What a trip! I'm sure this will be one of those experiences that stays with us forever. When looking back on our lives this will be a standout experience. A great group of people...no cliches and no pain in the A's. Colin and Gaylene have done a wonderful job of organising it.
  21. Hi Lesley If you can get a hinge sent to Alice as Webby suggests You are welcome to use our EvaKool fridge freezer till then. See you at Winton
  22. Hi Nev & Penny We are currently at Jericho and will be at the Pelican CP Thursday. If you are looking for something different to do Bladensberg NP is a few Km out past the long water hole.
  23. What a couple of days. I turned the van fridge on Wesnesday night and the compreSsor fan didn't start. After a call to Camec phoned their recommended repairer who couldn't even look at the problem till end next week. Sh..t fthat's the end of our Outback Way trip I thought. Luckily they recommended a great young Mobile repair guy who went out of his way to fix our problem. Even put off his MRI on his Footy knee (AFL of course). Problem now fixed and we are off tomorrow to meet everyone at Winton.
  24. Hi John, Isn't it great to not know when you'll be home or where you are going next. It seems to be the question everyone asks. How many times have we said "Don't know and we'll decide in the morning where to next". I remember arriving at Port Augusta from the Flinders Ranges back in '05 and we looked at each other and said "left or right?". We went right to Streaky Bay and had a great time exploring the Eyre Peninsular...Murphy's Haystacks, Seals, the Abalone Farm,Oysters, Seafood, etc. We'll probably do it all again when we return across the Nullarbor after the Outback Way adventure. Heard on TV this arvo that the over 50's are the happiest group of Aussies and I would have to agree. Must admit though,we're a bit over 50 and in fact well over 60! With a Kedron van and this big country to explore why wouldn't we be the happiest group no matter what age?
  25. A bottle of red helps! Like everyone else we don't have another answer but I must admit being in Queensland we don't need to use it very often.
