  1. Hi Sue & Rod, We are now at Cleaverville camp near Roebourne and it's fabulous. At $7 per site per day and cheaper if you stay weekly or monthly it's good value. We dropped in to see Rus & Sue (KOGGERS) at Cossack and they recommended it. All the roads throughout the Pilbara are about the same, bits are great and bits are corrugated or rocky. We just poke along at about 60kph with our van tyres at 28psi and the cruiser at 28 and 38 and have had no problems. As an aside (Rod only) we stayed at Snake Creek Campground last night and apart from enjoying a great night with a couple from Caloundra with a Majestic van and a great bloke who was the Grader driver and who was half Aborigine and half Afghan there was an Artist and his partner also camped there...early thirties. As seems to be the case with artists they were a bit free and easy and the girl just took off all her clothes and had a bit of a tub in the middle of the small campground in full view of everyone. Naturally I was doing my afternoon walk at the time and missed out. Next morning I did my usual 2-3km walk which was to the Python Pool and when I got back Bill (Majestic) said she's doing it again. Just my luck....missed oput again. Regards John
  2. Hi Russ, We should be able to visit you sometime this week. Regards John
  3. Hi Rod & Mavis We are also in WA but travelling in opposite direction to you it seems. We are gradually heading south now with no particular agenda or time frame except we hope to be in Jervis Bay NSW 30th November to see a Grandson graduate from Officer training with the Navy. Regards John & Maureen
  4. Hi Sue & Rod We've just got into Tom Price from Karijini NP and will be heading for Millstream NP tomorrow. Will probably be heading for Point Samson on about Wednesday. Gradually working our way south too so will let you know where we are from time to time and hope we can meet up somewhere. Regards John
  5. Hi John & Jo, We are really enjoying the trip and have just got back to Marble Bar after spending time at Carawine Gorge. Wish we had been at 80 Mile Beach for the fishing as I hear that when the Threadfin are on there are heaps there. John
  6. Hi All We are currently at Barn Hill Station in WA having travelled from Peregian Beach Qld via Mt Isa and Katherine to Kununurra then down the Gibb River Road. If any Koggers are about we would love to compare notes and perhaps enjoy a cold drink.

    error 11

Yep I got your reply Gini. Hope it all turns out OK for you. We are leaving for WA in the next couple of weeks.

    error 11

Hi there Gini, I don't know what you mean by error 11 but we had the same (no lights etc unless plugged into 240V) at Darwin last year. The transformer had packed it in and we had to replace it. We ordered it from Tom at Kedron who mailed it to us by express post. Hope that helps a bit.
  9. Hi Rick, I've taken the legs apart to grease them. All you need to do is remove the single screw holding the black covers on then prise off the covers. Then rotate the nut that raises and lowers the leg to show the split pin which holds the gear onto the long screw that is used to raise and lower the leg. Knock out the split pin with a 5/32" pin punch or similar. The screw and thrust bearing then just pulls out. All the best
  10. Hi John, Firstly another welcome to the Koggers! A few good camps and places along your way would be The Long Waterhole near Winton (Camps 5 359). At Cameron Corner travel 14km west to Bollards Homestead and purchase the mud map and directions to Innamincka ($10) along the old bore track. At Innamincka try the Town Common C5 705 it's a donation site on the Cooper Creek and you can drive the short distance into town to the public showers and toilets, showers about $2. Not to be missed is Coongie lakes about 100km NW of Innamincka. Not cheap as a Desert Parks pass is required (available at Innamincka) but worth every cent as sunset over the lakes with the birdlife is fantastic. The best spots are over the sand dune then you are right on the lake shore but I suggest walk over first then let the tyres down and go for it! Of course you will then visit the "Dig Tree". At Broken Hill don't miss the "Big Picture" in town or the Living Desert Reserve a few K's out of town. You are gunna love that trip as we did.
  11. Hi Robert & Jane, We bought a couple of black covers from Repco two years ago and they are still quite OK.
  12. Hi Kev, We have never had a problem with the 230 litre Vitrifrigo. We've been in both cold and hot climates for the last couple of years. The Vitrifrifgo is just like our home fridge, just great! We,ve also had an Engel for the last 10 years and it has been really great but it is really just a unit for camping as we did with our Camper Trailer. You need to decide whether you are camping or living in the van to make the right choice. In our opinion Vitrifrigo is the way to go
  13. Hi All, Just thought I'd let you know we have now had a couple of trips with the new LC200 60th Anniversary Series with KDSS and have found it brilliant. With no suspension modifications the van rides perfectly level. Of course we use the Hayman Reese WDH but with far less tension than was needed for our 100 Series. Toyota have certainly brought back the "Oh what a Feeling" with this vehicle! The Clearview mirrors really completed the package as far as I'm concerned... no more hassle with clamps and magnetic pads.
  14. Hi Rob, I tend to agree with Phil that the water tank size reduction would probably be a weight issue. We have a Vitrifrigo fridge in our ATV and have travelled extensively in NQ and NT with no problems whatever with it. if I were you I would ask Kedron what the story is as they have been fitting Vitrifrigos for years. Regards John
  15. Hi Peter & Maree, We also carry our chainsaw and 5ltr petrol container in the Genny box and sometimes notice petrol fumes in the van. Where did Kedron put the vent and what size? If possible a photo would be great. Thanks.
  16. Hi Sid & Sandie, We have now towed the van with them and find them terrific. They must have fixed the vertical tilt adjustment issue for the 200 Series as I am 6'3'' and have no problems.
  17. Hi again Rousosm, I have added the layout and specs for our van under Kedron Layouts. May assist a bit more with your deliberations.
  18. Hi ROUSOSM, We have a 21Ft ATV with full ensuite at the rear. We have the standard 3x80 litre water tanks and 3 solar panels and batteries and all the usual accessories including the diesel heater. The tare is 2,930 giving a payload of 570. We had it weighed fully loaded (all water tanks full and also a 20 litre jerry can of diesel). We also had on board the Honda 2kva genny, Baby Weber barby, tools, and all the gear we needed for a 3 month trip to Birdsville etc. The van weighed 3,520 and our ball weight was 320. We generally travel with the water tanks only about half full so we would be well under the 3,500 limit. I should also mention that we bought the 21Ft van specifically to get the full ensuite and we are really glad we did. Good luck and I hope this helps a bit.
  19. Hi Pete & Tracey, Back in 2006 the suspension on our offroad camper trailer collapsed about 250km out of Alice on the Tanami track. We had it collected by Outback Recovery Service and delivered to Aaron Caravans at Alice Springs. Sorry don't have the phone no. or address but it was based in a caravan park and the guy's name was Paul. Anyway after the parts arrived from Qld they did a great job of repairing the trailer and no further problems while we owned it up to 2009 when we finally got our new Kedron. Hope this is of some help. By the way we are completely happy with Tom and the boys at Kedron who have been great with in, and out of warranty repairs at no cost.
  20. Thanks Bryan, That is very similar to the chart I have.
  21. Hello CCC, We have 3 batteries and 3 solar panels and our van was collected from Kedron May '09. So far no problems with batteries as I watch the voltage like a hawk. Like (I presume) many people, I thought that a 12 volt battery would be half discharged at 6 volts. How naive was that? I'm pretty sure that under Hints and Tips on the KOG site back in 2008 I found a chart showing just what the situation was when at 12.7 volts and all the way down to 11.6 volts was shown. Surprisingly to me (I'm electrically challenged) at 11.6 volts there is only 10% of the charge left. I can't seem to find the chart on the web site any more so perhaps Webby (Sue) can resurrect it. If not I have it saved as a word document and with a bit of luckn I might be able to post it.
  22. Thanks Tony, Price is the same via web site and we managed to negotiate a 6 1/2% better price fitted from TJM over ARB.
  23. Thanks again Sue, We have been to TJM today and inspected a pair fitted to their 200 Series. All looks great so we have ordered a pair.
  24. Thanks Sue, We have the ORA mirror mounted system with magnetic arms which we had on our 100 Series so glass screeching was not a problem. The magnetic arms were essential to stop the mirrors crashing into the drivers side window when passing some semi's and particularly fuel tankers. The first time it happened I nearly had kittens! The main reason I am considering Clearview is, as you identified, to avoid the need to remove the mirrors when unhitched and driving around towns. My only reservation after your great reply is the reduced reach. The outer edge of my standard vehicle mirror is 30cm from the drivers side window and 46cm when the ORA mirrors are fitted. I will visit ARB and TJM to see if I can find out the measurement for the Clearview. Thanks again.
  25. Hi All, Has anyone had experience with the Clearview electric towing mirrors, particularly on a 200 Series. They look pretty good to me and I note that Bushtracker seems to rate them highly. At $660 plus the cost of fitting I would like to be sure they are as good as they say. Can anyone help?
