  1. Yesterday we were travelling on the Western Fwy into Brisbane. Minding our own business, enjoying the drive towards the ‘factory’ we heard a noise from under the bonnet and an unusual smell through the dash vents. Moments later I lost the power assist from the steering and brakes.........luckily there was a verge on the roadside that we could make a hasty ‘safe’ stop. Upon stopping, after opening the bonnet, I found that the A/C compressor had seized & thrown/destroyed the serpentine drive belt resulting in loss of steering & braking assist. Being a member of NRMA I rang them for assistance, they then connected me with RACQ who would (hopefully) offer me reciprocal service as we obviously weren’t in NSW. RACQ were aware of my situation re vehicle (type/size) & caravan (total length & weight) after sending two different flat top tow trucks the later be larger than the first.....RACQ (bless them) said they couldn’t assist, yes they could tow the truck, but NOT the van and I wasn’t going to leave my van on the roadside. I then contacted NRMA again, rembering I had ‘Premium Plus’ roadside assist......possibly should have mentioned that to the NRMA operator in the first instance......but then my rego number/membership number should have brought that up for the operator to see. Loooooong story short with with NRMA Premium Plus cover.....in no time there was a ‘Super Tilt’ low loader (see photo) there to take/tow me to Lawnton Showground. After a quiet beverage or two and another phone call to NRMA, I found that out that having Premium Plus cover entitled me to a second tow for the truck (to the repairer in Gympie) and the hire of a 200 series (which is all but NEW) to tow my van home. This is a long winded post but, if you have a tow vehicle and van that EXCEEDS your states motoring organisation limits consider NRMA Premium Plus cover. Usual disclaimer.......NO affiliation with NRMA other than being a happy customer.
  2. As a butcher is shooing a dog from his shop, he sees $15 and a note in his mouth, reading: "10 lamb chops, please." Amazed, he takes the money, puts a bag of chops in the dog's mouth, and quickly closes the shop. He follows the dog and watches him wait for a green light, look both ways, then trot across the road to a bus-stop. The dog checks the timetable and sits on the bench. When a bus arrives, he walks around to the front and looks at the number, then boards the bus. The butcher follows, dumbstruck. As the bus travels out into the suburbs, the dog takes in the scenery. After a while he stands on his back paws to push the "stop" bell, and then the butcher follows him off. The dog runs up to a house and drops his bag on the step. and barks repeatedly. No answer. He goes back down the path, takes a big run, and throws himself (Whap!) against the door. He does this again and again. No answer. So he jumps on a wall, walks around the garden, barks repeatedly at a window, jumps off, and waits at the front door. Eventually a small guy opens it and starts cursing and shouting at the dog. The butcher runs up screams at the guy: "What are you doing? This dog's a genius!” The owner responds, "Genius, you say? .. That's the second time this week he's forgotten his key!”
  3. Steve & Kerry, Thanks for the kind words. Kalumburu, brings back many great memories for me, such a beautiful place/area & community. I’ve had the privilege of visiting twice, both extended visits whilst I was working for KRSP (Kimberley Regional Service Providers). The last time I was there the Gall’s came through and filming ‘The Canning DVD’ was a great time many many laughs! Hugs for Kerry, looking forward to your updates on your travels. Cheers & travel safe Tony.
  4. Annie & I would like to wish all members & visitors to this site, the safest & most joyous Christmas. 🎄 May Christmas and the New Year bring you everything you wish for and more. Fingers crossed that life as we knew it, before March 2020 returns before too long! Travel safe & remember there are idiots out there! In closing, the Kedron Owners Group AGM is being held next month (see seperate notice), I am definitely stepping down as President.....Seriously hoping someone will put their hand up for the Sec/Tres position. SERIOUSLY it is not an onerous job, (ongoing assistance & training freely given, if required) maybe a husband & wife or a partnership between two separate people (one doing each job). For the group to survive AND grow we need you to assist and nominate!! Cheers Tony H
  5. Hi Ann, Great tip, but...... The water pressure regulators (in our vans) are completely different, but serve the same purpose. I am not sure if you can pull apart/overhaul the type fitted to Kedron’s. Happy to be proved wrong. Thanks for the contribution. Tony
  6. First off.....I will declare an interest, I am an authorised reseller of the Clearview range of products. The OP is not a member or owner of a Kedron. Yes, the OP (Trayon) definitely has a problem, but on that would have taken a considerable length to get to that 'stage' action should have been taken on first noticing the 'failure' of the powdercoating. There was a batch of mirrors produced several years ago that did suffer from this problem, Clearview at the time were accepting this fault as a warranty extension & happily supplied & fitted new mounts to rectify the problem. I do not fully understand Clearviews current 'forms of communication' (since COVID). But to me as a dealer, communication now has to be via email and can take several days to receive a reply. (which is sad) I would like to think, that the OP would have received a reply by now from Clearview! Also thinking the OP is a troll! Cheers Tony H
  7. Looks very pleasant & relaxing.....enjoy!
  8. The news of Kim Greenwood’s (Kimbo) passing is very saddening. As mentioned in previous posts he (& his wife Nerida) were founding members of the Kedron Owners Group (KOG). His passion for his family (including extended), & life generally is well known. Your memory will be remembered for a very long time and around many campfires. The thoughts and condolences of the Kedron Owners Group, goes to all of the Greenwood family at this sad time. Tony Heat President KOG
  9. Although I have only meet Kimbo & Nerida once, very early in our Kedron ‘life’ his friendship & assistance is long remembered. Thanks guys, travel safe and may the journey be not to rough.

  11. Greetings all, I trust this finds you in good health & spirits. For the past couple of weeks I have delayed this announcement, really hoping that we (all of Australia & the rest of the world) could see an end to this wretched COVID-19 virus. With the continuing cases in Victoria & NSW, closed QLD borders and severe quarantine/travel restrictions, we (the executive) have agreed that the proposed gathering at Kilkivan cannot go ahead in a safe manner like it has over the past few years. It is with GREAT reluctance that I have to inform you that the proposed Kedron Owners Group (KOG) gathering @ Kilkivan in November 2020 has been cancelled. Attendance from interstate members, would be non existent & members from Qld would/could be hesitant to attend. That being said, with anticipated attendance being very marginal, we have decided that this years Christmas Gathering is not viable! Five top line presenters, had already committed to this gathering, I sincerely hope they will appreciate this decision & will consider attending at a later date. Re: The AGM, we (KOG) have been in communication Queensland Office of Fair Trading- about 'Tenure of members of the management committee' and the effect of COVID-19 affecting the operation/management of 'Social Clubs' such as ours. The correspondence we have received from the Office of Fair Trading, indicates the we have a six month 'grace' period to hold an AGM from the originally proposed November 2020 date. With that in mind, we will keep ALL financial members up date, with news on a date, venue and what style (yet to be decided) we will conduct the AGM. In closing, I would like to remind all members who have NOT paid their renewal subs, they are NOW DUE! If you could attend to this as a priority, it would be very much appreciated, renewal notices were sent out over a month ago. Please, stay safe! Looking forward to seeing you down the road. Regards, Tony Heat. (President)
  12. G’day Richard & Tracey,, Caravan design and features is very much an individual choice. One of the great things in choosing a Kedron is the ability to personalise it. Can I suggest you let us know what you have put on your list of ‘wants’ for this build, so other readers of this post can contribute & possibly add to your ‘list’ advising you of their reasons. There are the basic essentials of course, but design & budget limits the final choice. Once you have taken delivery and used your ‘new baby’ over extended periods you will want to fine tune it with little extras....no risk! Cheers & looking forward to meeting you down the road one day soon. Tony H. PS.....as mentioned above a diesel heater is a MUST!
  13. Hi Bryan, Is this what your referring to.... https://www.purpleline.com.au/ ??? Thinking that they may be of benefit on a 'black top only' type van, but doubting their use on an off road van due to their positioning. Cheers Tony
  14. A little check now is much better than a big cheque later!
  15. Hi Katrina, 'My two bobs worth'..... You have a very capable tow vehicle vehicle there & with a Kedron hooked up to it you will be travelling first class & be the envy of many. The first three items on your list are very worthwhile & really will enhance your overall experience of your Toyota ownership. Re, the fitting of the extra fuel filter there are many 'arguments' about fitting the auxiliary filter before or after the 'factory' filter.....seriously consider having it fitted before the 'factory' filter. Your vehicle has a price tag of about 100k and probably not much older than twelve months if that, I (personally) would have serious reservations doing significant engine/transmission upgrades while you still are in the early part of your Toyota warranty, doing a remap, intercooler & torque converter 'upgrades', you could have serious disappointments from Toyota denying (possible, although highly unlikely) claims on engine, transmission & driveline. Hoping we meet up one day at a gathering or somewhere down the road. Travel safe Tony H
  16. G'day Westy, I purchased mine at the Big Green Shed (Bunnings)....you'll find it in the door/window seal aisle. Cheers

    Lay up cover

Thanks for the input guys, I was only suggesting you check with your insurers to see if they can assist.... For those who are considering checking prices and policies coverage from other insurers, make sure you get a price from WFI and do your homework. I HAVE NO affiliation with WFI other than being a customer of theirs....unfortunately they don't offer 'lay up' cover either!
  18. Hi all, Trusting this finds you all safe & happy (as happy as you can be in these troubling times) Just a suggestion......check with you van insurers to see if they will offer 'lay up' cover.....as we I'm sure as hell, won't be using our vans for at least the next six months....might save you a few $'s Cheers & stay safe Tony
  19. I'd be considering doing a couple more laps of that beautiful island....there'd have to be many places you haven't been! I reckon there would be worse places to be stuck! Stay safe
  20. Hi Robert, That is called a senior moment.....happy to hear your sorted! Travel safe....there are idiots out there (in NO way referencing to you.....lol) Tony
  21. Hi, I have been using Kogan for a while now, whilst not really top shelf quality they work well and the sound is acceptable considering the small speakers. Very limited range in 12 volt TV's (regardless of who's name is stuck on the case) https://www.kogan.com/au/buy/kogan-24-led-tv-series-5-dh5000/ https://www.kogan.com/au/buy/kogan-24-smart-led-tv-series-7-eh7500/ https://www.kogan.com/au/buy/kogan-24-led-tv-dvd-combo-series-6-eh6000/ ***this is the one I have*** Cheers & good viewing Travel safe. Tony
  22. Hi Ian and Lyn, As Chris says above, welcome to the Kedron Owners Group (KOG). Hoping our paths may cross sometime in the future, our next gatherings later this month... @ Bendella (Nowra area) & in May at Finch Hatton (Mackay), any chance we could see you @ either of these? Make sure you pencil in the Christmas gathering @ Kilkivan in early November.!! Have a look @ the Gatherings & Trips Forum. Travel safe...cu down the road, Tony H
