Rear camera fitting

Mick and Robyn,

We have a camera fitted, we supplied ours to the factory when our van was being built and all I had to do was hope that I wired the car unit up to match. All worked well.

Do you need any specific information ?

Ours is located with the wiring accessible through one of the back cabinets if we need to disconnect the camera for any reason. This isn't our van but one in the yard when we were setting ours up.

Cheers

I fitted my own camera.

Pretty simple really. The biggest task is trying to hide the cable.

There is a special cable available that I bought from a shop that specialises in surveillance equipment. It has an active and neutral as well as a shielded camera feed.

You only need a power feed and a video feed from your monitor.

Do you have any specific questions?

Hi All,

What type of vehicle do you have Mick? Does it have a reversing camera already, if so you have the option of connecting the camera to your OEM system via a change-over switch.

This is what I intend to do in my 200 Series, but have not checked it out yet, I was told this is the better option for vehicles with OEM reversing cam, no need for a second screen.

My guess is that you could probably also install a switch which simulates selecting reverse so you can take a look backwards whilst driving along the highway.

One of the more reputable Car Audio stores should be able to do it for you or give you the details.

Hello and thanks for your replies.

I am getting a VMS touring in dash unit fitted to our 100 series TD. The camera mounting and wire running to the rear of the van is my issue.

Cheers Mick.
