Fridge Fuse

I have a 4 year old Kedron and the power to the fridge is not working, the Kedron docs say that the fuse is on top of the left battery but it is not and I have tested evey fuse. The kedron docs also say that the radio is off left row fuse 3 but it stoped when the fridge stopped.

Do they have in line fuses in the walls or something

Rusty D,

We have four batteries and there is an in line fuse located near each two batteries. I am not aware of fuses in the walls and that would be unlikely.

I assume you are on solar/12V and not plugged into 240V at the moment? I guess your batteries were fully charged and you have had no problems with them. With the radio not working it suggests power supply problems other than just the fridge.

I think these days the vans are wired so the fridge is wired direct to the batteries so when on 240V the charger is on to charge the batteries. You may have done this, but if you are on 240V just check if the mains protection switch, usually located inside the van, hasn't tripped.

Other than that I can't be of much help.

We have a more recent model ATV2.

The radio and the fridge are on the same circuit. We have a separate circuit-breaker for this circuit in the front boot. (Our first Kedron didn't have an isolator for the fridge and the radio was not on the same circuit). I think Kedron started using the circuit breaker soon after we purchased our first van.

Hope this is of some help.

Hi Rusty,

Yes, the fridge and radio are on the same circuit. If I recall, this is so you don't lose your programmed radio stations when you turn everything off in the boot except the fridge.

Our Topender is 5 years old and we now have an electrical problem also.(thank God it happened at home and not out in the never never)

The batteries indicate 12.2 volts the solar panels indicate 14 amps charge but the lights won’t operate on 12 volts.

If I plug in 240 volts all is well, the lights work on both 240v and 12v.

Any ideas on what the problem is?

Bryan :confused1:

G`Day Bryan

I hate to be the bearer of bad news mate ,but if your batteries are only showing 12.2v they are probably near or at their use by date. Get them tested by an 12 volt specialist just to make sure.

Cheers

Rick
