Webmaster
Sounds like a mini-gathering in the works? Enjoy!
Merv and Di
Last year according to reports that it was extremely well attended and the only downside was the lack of ablutions blocks. A lot of people were complaining that you had to be very careful where you stood around the trees. I think some people just cannot get it into their heads that this event is being held 40ks outside Birdsville in a desert not in the next suburb with all facilities on tap. It will be an awesome concert once again, get there early and take extra water with you and don't forget the closest dump point is 40ks away. Some have said that the ticket price was on the extreme side but when you look at what you got no one was complaining. Cheers Merv

Merv and Di
Check your road reports. A lot have been closed because of the rain including the Birdsville track all the way from Marree through to Big Red. Merv
Big Fish
We are also heading out there, is it better to stay at Big Red or in Birdsville?
The Road Runner
We're heading off from Cairns (Gordonvale) 25/05/16 for the Flinders Ranges via Birdsville, as long as track is open for vehicles over 3 tonne. If not open will probably go via the Stuart. Cheers Ted & Hermy
The Road Runner
Sorry departure date 25/06/16 to head South. Thanks
Merv and Di
Hi Big Fish From all of the reports about last year you would have to stay out there just for the atmosphere apart from that it is nearly 40ks out from Birdsville on the dirt and if the weather gets a little wet that road can chop up pretty quick. Enjoy Merv
tolands
Hi Big Fish, we are staying out at Big Red , never considered staying in BV and doing a 80km round trip each day.... more relaxing to stay on site and take in the atmosphere... have you joined the Travelling to Big Red Bash 2016 Facebook page ?... lots of discussions on there about the event. Where are you travelling from ?
The Road Runner
While heading South from Cairns down to Birdsville ,thought we might find somewhere to wet the kayak. Have considered the Diamantina National Park & possibly a camp at Hunters Gorge. Has any one been there or got any other ideas. It's the first time we've been able to load the tandem kayak as normally we head to W.A. or N.T. Would appreciate any suggestions of any good water camps below the Tropic of Capricorn hopefully where the water lizards are genuinely scarce.
