Breakaway Switch Danger

Rosco

Recommended Posts

Today I replaced the Tekonsha Breakaway switch.

To my horrer not only did I find it was not working but on closer inspection I found the internal contacts had completely rusted away.

I believe they should have been made of a non-corrosive material.

If there is an Australian standard for this important safety device I think this brand would fail.

They recommend the switch be replaced every 3 to 5 years.

Our van is only 3 years old so I suggest you check the switch regularly.

Regards,

Rosco

Likewise Rosco.

Our switch was completely worn out at just under 3 years.

A good idea to do regular complete inspections of the entire van and components.

Mavis and Rod.
