Hello Colin, Great report for a very important day. We too attended a very memorable dawn service and memorial service in the beautiful"Outback". We attended the service at Farina Station on the start of the Oodnadatta Track. It was attended by over 200 people and a large number of ex servicemen and women. The Outback can certainly do it better

Help Required, I have just purchased a portable VAST TV satellite system and I have been told that it is possible to run 2 TV's from the 1 decoder but it has to be the same channel as the primary TV. If this is true, .................... how is it done? I do have sat points inside the cupboard where the tv connects and I assume that the 2nd point is for looping the outside tv???? Outside I do have1 sat outlet. Some helpful advice would be very much appreciated so I can remain out of my wife's way inside the van

When I enquired, I was told that they only have 3.5T tow capacity and the Ford F150 and the Chev equivalent both have 3.75T tow capacity

When we purchased our GMC through Victorian American Import, we noticed that he also imported and converted the Dodge Rams. When I enquired about them to the owner of the company, he informed me that they are not a vehicle that converts well and while he does sell them to the "Very Budget Conscience" buyer, he would prefer not to as the vehicle does have its issues. He assured me that the Silverado/GMC and Fords are much superior vehicles and have much less issues. I do agree that there seems to be more and more of the larger American vehicle on the road now and I guess that was always going to be enviable as vans get bigger and heavier. I have to say that until you do hook the heavy van up to on of these vehicles, ............. you will never understand the feeling of "relaxed towing". It is such a comforting feeling to have.

Hello All, To remove the calcium there is a product that we used while we worked in the Kimberley for 12 months. It is a product made by Peerless Chemicals called Calcleen. Make sure you read the instructions well before using. It works extremely well and with very little effort. Cheers

Hello Colin, I was like you and carried them like a security blanket for "Just in case", but I ditched the bars 12 months ago as they definitely are no longer required. We have done plenty of "On Road" and "Off/Dirt Road travel and have not had any issues to warrant using them ever again. So let go .................... set them free ........ save yourself the hassle of carrying them Cheers

Thanks for the info Merv, I have just gone and purchased a new Hema Maps book as my previous one is 16 years old. There seems to be a lot more sealed roads (all over Australia) in it than the old book had ............ funny that, hey. We are holding a special "Burning Ceremony" for the old book today as we thought Australia day was very appropriate for it as it has guided us well over the may years. We are still deciding on whether or not to keep the ashes as it seems part of the family now.

Hello Fellow Travelers, We are currently in the Riverland in SA for grape harvest and will be travelling to Lawn Hill in Qld at the start of May for work. I am thinking of travelling the Birdsville Track & Eyre Devolopmental Road through Bedourie and Bouilia, then onto Lawn Hill. While I know the Oodnadatta and Birdsville Tracks are nice and easy tracks to travel, I am unsure about the Eyre Developmental Road as I have not previously travelled it. So I would appreciate some information about it from anyone who has travelled it recently please Thank you

Colin ....................... wash your mouth out . There is a lot more of a difference between a Silverado and a GMC than the bonnet and grill. The GMC has a lot more shinny bits and a higher level of luxury. Plus it is spelt different . Now go sit in the corner until you have learnt your lesson Cheers

For what its worth, We store ours in the front boot.............. drip tray emptied of coarse, but not strapped in. It sits there perfectly and its never given us issues and we have travelled lots of shitty roads I can assure you. Steve

Hi Tony, I cut a 3-4 inch square piece of fly gauze and "Bagged" it over the end of the breather and locked it on with a cable tie. I did this 3 years ago and it is still in place today. It saves having to remember to remove the tape. I also did it to diesel heater and anything else that requires it. I have also removed the fridge vents and all other vents and put the gauze in behind it. It works well and you can't notice it. Cheers Steve

Hello Colin, If I were you, I would look a bit further for your adblue as I always buy it in 20Lt drums and I have never paid more than $42.00. In fact I just purchased 20Lt in Broome (where everything is twice the price) for $31.00. I have found that a lot of truck stops have "Off the Pallet" types specials, mostly on 10Lt drums and I have seen it as cheep as $9.95 for 10Lts. Cheers Steve

Hello Danny, The handbook says you have to use an engine oil with a API rating of CJ-4. ALL the reputable oil companies have this rated oil in their everyday range and it is stocked in every auto parts store, so don't stress, Cheers Steve

Hello Colin, I am glad you are enjoying the new vehicle. It is hard to explain to someone how more relaxing it is to tow a heavy van with a properly suited vehicle, not to mention the fact that you don't have to worry about the weight issues that everyone complains about. That's why I tell people to try it and then they will understand. How good is it to be able to set the cruise and be able to do the speed with confidence? Plus how good is it to be able to sit on 100km and still have an unbelievable amount of power to burn when you put your foot down to overtake a truck or road train. ......................... Stress free. The LC owners have no idea the pleasure they are missing out on. The only downside I get is the fact that you tend to forget you are towing a van at times .............................. especially when you get into a shopping area and go to reverse park and then look in the mirror and then realize you still have the van on the back ..............................LOL Happy motoring Steve
