Hi Paul, Yes I have had Safety Dave Monitors fitted for 2 years and have found them to be very accurate ,good quality, with excellent backup from supplier. Although they are supplied with a relay to pickup signal from van ,found it wasn't needed in fact I could read my van pressure from car 20+ meters away. Hope this information helps. Cheers John

Hi David & Macca, Have also experienced the cold air through the fridge vent. Have had a shade cloth screen made up similar to the type we had on our 3 way fridge, attached it to the sail track which I assume would have been fitted to the XC5 on that side and pegged down out from the van. We haven't been able to test it fully since the weather has warmed up! The material was a 90% mesh used for house & pool shade sails,( not your garden or caravan shop end shades variety.) Sail is 1500mm wide 2200mm long. As for insects it isn't too hard to place a piece of mesh behind the vent. I reckon that in most weather a vent is not required as there is top & bottom vents on the fridge but it has been fitted as a requirement from Dometic. Cheers John

Hi Ian, I'am no expert in this field but have a CTEK D250S Dual DC to Dc charger fitted to our van. There are 4 terminals Solar in (+), Altenator in (+), All negatives(-), Out to battery positive and any other(+). So I would suggest that your Anderson negative should be connected to the All negative terminal on the DC to DC and the Anderson positive to the Alternator IN terminal. The battery negative would be connected to the same all negative terminal and the battery positive would be connected to the output positive (+)terminal. Ian I hope this info is of some help. Hi Rob, I'am no expert but I would think that it would connect direct to the batteries,the fuse would be somewhere on the positive line under the bonnet. 91% sounds fair as the alternator regulator would cut in so that it didn't overcharge the battery.So you may travel all day and not make 99%. Hi Scott, We have a 2001 ATV poptop since new #73. We recognized the strength and build quality back then when no other van came close.I can assure you that as long as it has been reasonally maintained you will have a lot of fun with it. They are built like a brick s---house in fact you will find that the checkerplate surrounds is the real deal not like the more recent models. We love our van it may lack some of the modern additions,no toilet etc but have outside shower and at our stage of life are still happy to rough it a bit. We have added some extras, (solar,DC to Dc charger,reverse camera,stone guard,LED lights,) Hope this helps with your decision Cheers John

Hi Chris, Yes I'am a chicken also that is why I thought I would ask first. I have had another look and will drill a hole at the bottom as Merv mentioned and if the wire doesn't feed up will try inside the cupboards.It's only a matter of a bit of silicone to reseal the hole. Thanks John

Hi Merv, Thanks for your advise re camera, obviously you have some knowledge as to what is behind the cladding. I wasn't sure if there would be a passage down past the frame without striking a horozontal bar. I was thinking of fitting along the chassis rail but didn't want cable down the outside at the rear of the van. Thanks again Regards John

Hi all I have a cabled rearview camera to fit to the rear of an Kedron ATV poptop (early model)I'am wondering if anyone out there has fitted same and how? There are many options but I want it to look good without cable dangling every where. I'am reluctant to start drilling holes in the cladding not knowing what is behind and also if I can route it along through the wall frame. Any comments, suggestions or perhaps photos will be welcome. Hi again to both John's. It appears from the original question that you would be replacing the whole backing plate assembly. If this is correct,unless there was a problem or damage to the backing plate I couldn't understand why. The point I was making was that the shoes would only need relining and could be done at any business specialising in brakes and should not cost the proverbial arm & leg. If it is not too rude what have you been quoted? Cheers John

Hi John, When you say they made the brakes themselves do you mean they bonded new linings onto your shoes? That is all I have ever had done in the past @ Brakemart or Betterbrakes in QLD. Took the shoes in,they did the relining and assembled myself. If you were not sure about getting all wheels adjusted evenly maybe let them do the job. There is nothing too complicated about drum brakes,they have been around since day dot, almost. Regards John

Jeff, We visit Airlie on a regular basis and stay at the Island Gateway Holiday Park (Top Tourist) and they do have a standing area for cars and vans. I would imagine some of the other parks do also (Big 4 ) There is a storage facility at Shute Harbour (Shute Harbour Parking & Storage 0749469666.only a short walk from the boat jetty. I believe some operators are now leaving from the Marina which is closer to Airlie Village you would have to check this. There are pick ups from most accomodation & van parks.Hope this is helpful Cheers John

Hi Ian & Jill I believe there is a 12 volt set top box available from Dick Smith or Jaycar for those who want to operate on 12 volt only. I might add that we have changed to a 12volt/240volt TCL 19'' LCD from Retrovision. They seem to run a special on them occasionally but you need to be quick because they go fast. From memory I think it was around $300. Cheers John

Hello All My solution to the poor reception from a rubber aerial was to use the old coat hanger trick. By getting a length or plain wire, not too thick( thinner then coat hanger wire) and creating a spiral which is wound over the rubber aerial with an extension above the van roof. It has stayed in place in all conditions and works a treat. I found that if I held the rubber aerial reception improved which indicated that I was acting as the aerial hence the add on wire.
