  1. Not yet, I will follow up. There is some information on the Caravaners Forum site quoting an SA transport official stating that this only applies to the pre first registration which comes under Aust Gov regulations. State Gov will still be able to carry on with their own schemes post registration. Will be interesting to see where this leads. cheers
  2. I just sent a query to Lovells to see if they can clarify where we stand? Will Let you know their response. cheers
  3. Merv, I saw this. I am glad I completed the upgrade when I did. From memory, I think pre 2016 200 series did not have a combined mass plated, not sure if it was stated elsewhere.
  4. Well done. It does take some time and effort but it feels good to be fully compliant. Happy travels.
  5. Our car and van upgrade is now complete and signed off by Transport SA, van ATM 4t, Landcruiser GVM 3.8t, tow 4t and CVM 7.8t. Ready for travel.
  6. Finally completed our van upgrade, took the paper work to our MVR today and all has been approved. Nice new compliance plate sitting in the front boot. Now just waiting for MV Inspections to contact me re a roadworthy inspection on the Landcruiser GVM and tow upgrade. Was 20th on the list yesterday.
  7. I slid our 13mm t80 grade chains up the Aframe arms and secured them with high tensile bolts through the arms. This was done on the suggestion of our engineer. The 13mm chains will accept a 3/4 bolt. Our system has now been signed off by our engineer.
  8. I have gone the whole hog and am using 13mm hammer lock on the 13 mm t80 chain and 4.7t shacklesto the Landcruiser. Doesn't look too big and heavy when attached to the vehicle.
  9. John, I think the standard for chains is a national one, as with number plate heights, braking for vans/trailers over 2.5t etc. The stamped chains I used were the 10mm 2.5t. There is anAustralian design rule that covers trailers and caravans. cheers
  10. John and Jo, Stu and Jean I have tried to send photos, if you have not received them let me know, I am having trouble sending my emails cheers
  11. John, I have sent a private message Val
  12. John, our engineer approved 2x2.5 tonnes giving a total of 5 tonnes which is above the 4 tonne upgrade. cheers
  13. Having had the TE and 200 for 8 years now braking has never been an issue, the 200 handles it very well. The tow upgrade basically brings the 200 back up to its build rating as sold in the US. It was derated for Australia because our harsh conditions. Same reason given for down rating the new VW twin ab from 3.5 in Europe to 3 here.
  14. The Landcruiser work is complete with all its little stickers pending a roadworthy inspection by SA Transport. The work on the van is complete, I had to change the chains to high tensile stamped chains and the Lovels hitch. The engineer will complete his paperwork and send that to MVR next week. I am not sure if Kedron has responded but both Leisa and Glen were following it through. Cheers va
  15. Ended up getting one from Kedron from the black tanks they use now. Was tight but a little reaming of both threads and it now fits well.
  16. No it is on our 2009 Landcruiser. Means it is only state compliance. But as you say it will ensure we are always legal.
  17. Recently had the need to completely empty our Topender so took the opportunity to put it and the Landcruiser 200 over a weighbridge. I knew we were marginal but was surprised just how marginal we were. Though the combined mass was fine, the Landcruiser with near full fuel tank and one on-board person came in at close to 3t. The van was empty except for full heater tank, gas cylinders, hot water tank and toilet tanks, and came in at 3.3t. This was after we had replaced our AGM batteries with lithium and halved that weight. The tow ball weight was 260kg which left only about 40kg for any passengers and load in the vehicle. The same with the van; 200kg for water in tanks (240l) clothes food and other goodies. I had removed the two Jerry can holders from the drawbar for this exercise. Hence we are taking the step to have a Lovells GVM, to 3.8t on the car, a tow upgrade to 4t, and upgrade of the van GVM to 4t. This is being arranged to take place in Adelaide. Will let you know how it all goes.
  18. The cap on my diesel heater fuel tank has cracked and I am having a problem finding a replacement. It is for an ebersparcher blue tank(dometic) with an internal diameter of the cap thread of 46mm. Has anyone found a source for these. Thanks.
  19. Bought the Dunlop AT3 G for our trip this year. Have done about 20000kms with the AT3G now, mainly towing with about 4000kms on dirt roads and tracks with lowered pressure in the tyres. Have found the tyres have performed well, softer ride than my previous Duellers, no punctures on the whole trip, lots of the tracks were stoney gravel. The tyres have worn well, tread still 7-8 mm. Have been very happy with them.
  20. We looked hard at what we needed when we purchased our first van, we wanted something rugged that would handle the remote and often coregglated and dirt roads we intended to travel. We wanted a van that was able to go to remote places and be self contained. We looked at a number of vans before finally deciding on a Kedron ATV. When we visited the factory we were impressed by the strength we saw in the build. We felt welcome by the staff and after we took delivery the support has continued. It was like being part of a family. Our van handled all the rough stuff we encountered over the next 4 years and we did it in comfort. When we decided to update our van we didn't have any hesitation in ordering our second Kedron, this time a Topender. This one too has performed admirably as it has criss-crossed the country through river crossings, corrugated tracks, up and down riverbeds and through endless dusty roads. We made the right decision, our Kedrons have allowed us to go we we wanted in comfort and safety.
  21. Thanks everyone, I shall pass this onto Scifleet. I feel much better with the prodigy, having fitted one to our 100 series after using both the Voyager and the HR, and there is no comparision. Thanks for your help. cheers Val
  22. Help We have ordered a landcruiser 200 series for pick up in February to coincide with our new van and Scifleet have told us the Tachonca Prodigy will not fit, want to fit a Haymen Reece. Has anyone got a 200 series with a prodigy fitted? I have used a Haymen Reece and there is no comparison, from jerks and shocks with the HR to totally smooth with the prodigy. Cheers Val :helpsmilie:
  23. Hi John and Lynelle We have a 230l Vitrifrigo in our van, now 4 years old and I have nothing but praise for the way it has coped. We live in Darwin and have travelled in some very hot, 45C+, and very humid and the fridge and freezer (2 door) has coped with everything dished up. Would highly recommend it. Only problems we have had is the cental hinge holding the two doors together came apart, it is only spot welded and I have had a proper weld put on it now, and a door lock breaking, but this was after 3 and a half years so I can't complain too much. My caravan has 4 solar panels and 3 batteries and it copes reasonably well, we have never had the fridge cut out due to lack of power, but the 230l would use more power than a 150l. However, I do think you would need to upgrade your system if you are doing independent camping. regards Val

    New Atv2

Hi Garry and Judy I was looking at your specs-looks great-I am interested in the split level airconditioner- Is Kedron supplying and fitting or is this a private arrangement-we are having a van built and a/c alternatives are of interest. regards Val of Val and Chris
