  1. Thanks everyone for the input. As a followup, what sort of range do you get from a tank(s) of fuel when towing your 'van' with the 200 TD? I ask this purely for info only, as the decision to upgrade our 100 series will not be based on fuel costs. We generally get around 600 k's from the 2 tanks, sitting on around 90-95 k's p/hr. Currently our TE is slightly overweight (ball weight 417 kg's) and I am looking at re-jigging the water tanks to get more weight at the rear end (off the front) to compensate.
  2. Hi All, We are looking at upgrading our LC 100 TD to a 200 TD to tow our 18' TE. We would appreciate any comments on model(s),performance & necessary accessories etc. from anyone that has gone down this road. We understand that there were some issues with the new model earier on but they have been rectified(?). Any feed back would be most appreciated. Ian & Jill Brown
  3. Hi everyone, We have just weighed our 18' TE with the outboard mounted up front, 2 x gerry cans and a little firewood. The tow ball weight was 420 kg's (the van weighed 3300 kg's)! Has anyone experienced this and if so, what are the options to get our van back to the 350kg rating? Any advice would be most appreciated, though we will be talking to the Kedron boys as well. Ian & Jill Brown
  4. Helen & Graeme, We have an 18' Top Ender that we took delivery of in December 07. Just back from 3 month trip to Tasi. You are welcome to have a look at it etc, just give us a call on 0418 914 989. to make a time (Henderson area). Ian & Jill Brown
  5. This is what happens when the pin and r clip that holds the reece hitch together disappeared' and our 18'6 TE took a dive. It happened on the gravel road from St. Helens to Postmans Points in NE Tasmania. We now have a key locked pin! The only damage was to the jockey wheel, that we were going to replace with a jack type, anyway. These Kedrons are tough! Ian & Jill Brown
  6. Thanks Ash & Geoff for the info. Looks like s good place for a mid Nullabor break.
  7. We are leaving Perth for Tasi early in Feb. and thought we might have a break at Smoky Bay in SA for a couple of nights. Has anyone been there, what's it like and what is the fishing like? Any info would be appreciated. Ian Brown 18' TE
  8. Recently someone tried to steal our 18' TE fromt the yard at our business where we keep 'her'. We now have a wheel clamp and lockable tow ball insert. Is anyone aware of a lock suitable for the Hyland hitch or any other suggestions on 'securing' the van? They would be most appreciated. Ian
  9. Hi Wayne & Cheryl, We picked up our TE in December last year and took 6 weeks to get it back to Perth. During that time, we had poor output from our 3 solar panels (2 days max supply!). When having the fault checked out before adding a 4th panel, we found that one of the fuses had been left out in the first battery box (5 holders and 4 fuses installed). One new fuse and everything works fine. The Kedron guys were a bit embarrassed, but December was extremely busy for them and it was just one of those things that can happen. Might be worth checking out. Ian
  10. Thanks Peter & Anne for your thoughts. I think we will go with the 4th battery. The 4th solar panel was installed late this afternoon and will be out ín the sun' tomorrow. Ian
  11. Thanks for your thoughts. We will probably start with 4 panels and 3 batteries and see how we get on. Ian
  12. Hi All, Previously we wrote regarding poor solar/battery performance in our Dec 07 TE. It turns out that we had a fuse issue with the double bank of solar panels, that meant we were only charging off the single panel. All fixed now. We have decided to add the fourth Kyocera 130 watt panel, to give us that extra supply for the engel etc.. A few questons, if anyone has some advice on: - Do we need the fourth battery, any advantages by having it? - Are there any problems with four batteries in line? - Do we need to upgrade the controller to a PL6 (have received contradictory opinions). Any advice would be most appreciated. Jill and I are due to leave Perth late in June for Darwin and back. Hope to catch up with other Kedronners on the road. Ian & Jill, 18'6" TE
  13. I have just purchased a sat. tv kit and spent this afternoon setting it up. I have connected the dish to the antenna point on the front drivers side of our 18' TE, the 12 volt set top box is connected to the antenna point in the overhead cupboard in the kitchen. However, I am not getting any sound from the satellite finder (in line near the lnb) when trying to tune the dish. Has anyone any thoughts on what I am doing wrong, they would be most appreciated? Ian
  14. We have just arrived back in Perth after picking up our 18'TE in mid December. Our van came with provision for a 30l Engel and with 3 x 120 amp Solar panels and corresponding batteries. When the Engel was on (freezing), we were getting approx. 2 days before our available voltage dropped to very low 12's and then struggled to re-charge even though the temperature was in the 30-35 degrees (and over 40 on some days). Could anyone with the same option let us know their experiences so we can determine if we have a problem or not. Other than some minor issues (too hot for a Honda genny to run the a/c - we now have a Yamaha that performed faultlessly) the van performed really well. Ian & Jill Brown
  15. Hi everyone, This is our first posting since picking up our 18' TE 2 weeks ago. We are currently making our way back to Perth and are camped just out of Portland, SA. Today it is going to be 41 degrees!!. We have just tried to run the genset (2kva Honda) and a/c, but it kept overloading the genset. Has anyone got a suggestion(s) on the best proceedures to use to make it work? We would appreciate any help. Ian & Jill
