  1. The fan in our vitrifrego fridge doesnt work,so contacted a fridge technician in ingham, he came out and suggested to attach another fan to the existing fan, he wasnt sure how to take the existing fan out so suggested to attach a fan to it, I would be grateful if someone could explain how to attach it so I can show him. 2. Hi all, we left Hervey Bay heading to VIC and South Australia, and decided to take the opportunity to call in to the new Kedron Factory and get the oven sorted.(Finally) I have to say , what a pleasure it is to deal with them,I know it's been said many times before, and rightfully so. Outcome , Oven fixed along with a few additional bits and pieces ,all done straight away, and talk about service with a smile Lisa's Daughter (MEMORY LOSS, no wonder we have our names on back of van) was in charge of organising the work to be done , and what a friendly and competent person she is. The problem with the oven was a small magnet ,I think at the back of the control knob,it vibrated out of place. The Thermocoupling that Camec sold me , AS I suspected at the time, was not was not the right one,so I donated it to Kedron. All work done for us by Kedron , No Charge. Regards MAL.
  3. Diesel is getting to expensive. I came across this Wind powered Toyota on a property near Georgetown. And then coming over the mountains down towards Cairns, I could not believe my eyes couldn't see to well because of the fog ,but must have been a gathering of the Buggers.. . Regards Mal.

    Roof leak

Hi Tony , I'm with Laurie re A/C, we had a roof leak about 12mts ago, removed the A/C internals and it's easy to see how a leak there could travel between inner and outer skins. Hope you have success, leaks and squeaks are bloody hard to find. Regards mal and kerry.
  7. There will be a short segment on to'night , about how a growing number of councils don't want us grey nomads staying in independent camp sites in their area. More likely the local caravan parks complaining again. We have noticed an increasing number of Show grounds are no longer allowing camping . Channel 7 This day To'night at 7 o'clock. Regards mal .

  10. Hi Tony, it's said that it tastes like chicken,so Kentucky Fried was going to be the go,only thing it wouldn't stay still while I prepared it. So then I remembered watching a show a long time ago, I think it was in China, they simply dip the live Snake into boiling water for a couple of seconds and cut it up ,the thing is you had to eat it while it was still squirming. SWMBO wasn't impressed with that idea, so don't know if it could be a substitute for chicken. Hi Leslie and Erich, not sure but I would think some sort of tree snake. He was about 2'6" long, but not very thick. Regards Mal..
  11. This little beastie was in my Baby Q. when I lifted up the lid. Clean undies needed.
  12. THANKS for the Birthday wishes. Had a great day. Regards MAL.
  13. Hi Tony I saw a slightly different version , 2 city girls and 2 farm girls . the 2nd farm girl wasn't sure what method she would follow but thought the Bucket and Saucer sounded easy so they went with that. When they all met a year later ,farm girl no2 was not only pregnant but also cross eyed. The counsellor coulden't understand how it could work for farm girl no1 but not farm girl no2, until she explained that as her husband was the taller of the two, she had to stand on the bucket.
  14. Hi Tony,Merv, and Rick. Thanks for input,we will be on the move for a bit,but as soon as we put the anchor out and are close to another Gas appliance repairer I will see if they can get a Thermocoupling. Hey Rick is that how Lee broke her ankle, kicking the stuffing out of stove?? . Regards Mal.
  15. Hi All We are having a problem with our Gas oven (Smev mod 401). For 3 weeks now we have been mucked around by the local caravan repairer,a different excuse every time. very frustrating. we are on the move again in a couple of days, now we are told that there are no spare parts in Australia. Just as well we do most of our cooking in the Baby Q. The problem with the oven is it lights up ok,but when I let the control knob go the flame goes out. I have been told that it could be the Thermacouple(spelling?)or maybe in the control knob. Has anyone had the same problem,if so what was the outcome?. The stove is only just over 2 1/2 yrs old. Regards Mal.
  16. HI CHRIS Re Dump points, we have been full time living and traveling for about 1.1/2 yrs now, and before we started we purchised a second casette, which means it can be around 7 days before we have to empty them, and we have always come across a dump point within that time. But if we had to, yes digging a hole would be the go,obviously away from any water course ect, and min of 100mm of soil over top of it when buried. REGARDS MAL.
  17. HI BAZZ AND SHIRL WELCOME,WELCOME, WELCOME. I just read your last post, and am amazed that you are having a KEDRON built without a kitchen sink in it.LOL. Sorry couldn't resist that. Regards mal
  18. HI BONDY AND JENNY After full time living and traveling in our ATV2 for about 1.1/2 years, the biggest issue I find is with 12v power. We have 3 x 135 w panels, and 3 x 110a/h batteries. In summer not as much a problem, but winter or prolonged cloudy weather, it is always a constant consern. I'm not really a wizz when it comes to things that make sparks, but this is how I see it. 3x 135w panels ,the best input I have seen is 20a and that is in ideal conditions(sunny day,sun high in sky ect). But realistically it doesn't happen all that often. A lot of the places we go to,it is just not possable or desireable to set up camp in the middle of a paddock away from all trees, facing East,West. so in real life this is what we get. (Example) After going from 240v, with batteries fully charged and now on 12v power,1st day.Anything from 13.4 to 14.4v, a/h 100%full,at sundown volts drop quickly to about 12.9v, (all good).the TV goes on for the news, and then Kerry watches a soapey and maybe a movie, the fridge (which is the biggest gobbler of power)continues to consume 5a for 20mins and only stops for 10mins before starting up again. Lighting is kept to a min,and the deisel heater might be fired up,about 2am until 7am in places like Orange when temp got down to -2degrees. So at 7am we have something like 12.8v(all good)Our Vantrex battery monitor tells me we are 82% full. By about 4pm the monitor tells me 13.3v and again drops quickly to about 12.9v(no probs)and batt a/h holding capacity is 78%, so what i'm getting at is,at the end of every day, our volts are ok,but the A/h are on the way down. Most of the time the pannels are only putting in anything from 5 to 8 or maybe 10A ,and as the power hungry fridge, keeps chooing up 5amps, and the sun is low in the sky, and days are shorter the Batteries just don't recover. I don't see how another pannel on the top of the van would be of much help when the 3 we have don't put in to their full potential, and the only place for one would be on the slope on the front of roof. One of the reasons for poor power input is the position of the air conditioner throwing a shadow on 1 or 2 of the panels and rendering them useless for most of the day. So what I am thinking of geting is a portable pannel that can then be moved around to follow the sun. When we were having our van built we thought of 4 x110a/h Batteries, but that wouldn't have been of much use when we can't fill 3, and the extra weight was a no go. Anyway this is our findings ,other KEDDY owners say they don't have a power problem. and I guess that is why we have a jenny, so we can bump it up. Apart from that rapt in our KEDRON and our life style. REGARDS MAL.
