Could any body advise a good auto electrician on the north side of Brisbane to carry out the battery separation and installation of an Anderson Plug and constant 12vlt power to an Engel fridge plug.

I realize when doing this I will have to upgrade the existing batteries to a larger capacity.

Regards Jim.

Hi Jim,

When I had my 200 series for 5 years .......I could leave my Engel on freezer plugged in from 3pm until 9am  running of the standard batteries .

When I parked up for longer periods , I would plug the Engel into the van via the Anderson plug .

Cheers Nev

Hi Jim

i would recommend you talk to Springers Electrical at Lawnton, they are 12 volt specialists. Just explain what you want to achieve and I'm sure they will help you out.

Cheers

Thanks Peter and Tony.

Peter have you had any work done by Springers? I realize they are 12volt specialists, but the thing I would be concerned about is if they could do auto electrical work.

But I will check them out when I'm down that way next week.

Kind Regards Jim.

Hi Jim

Over the past 10 years or so I have had considerable auto electrical work done by Springers, firstly on my old 100 series and now on my 200 series, and our Kedron.

I left the 200 series Landcruser batteries in their original positions. Springers installed a deep cycle battery in the cargo compartment just in front of the fridge slide. They also installed the battery isolator and a heavy duty Anderson plug and associated wiring back to the Kedron and to a DC to DC charger.

We all fit out things differently, so just go and talk to them about what you want.

I'm not associated with them. They do good work and I'm happy with that.

Cheers

Peter

Hi Jim.

As a second option I can strongly recommend Steve Smith Automotive 11 Albany Creek Road Aspley for the job at hand. They are mainly auto electricians and we had Steve         undertake battery separation and Anderson plug together with installation of our CB on our Landcruiser 200 series. These guys take pride in their work and I believe that years ago they used to undertake the auto electrical work for Kedron Caravans.

Regards

Just to throw a cat among the pigeons , most dual battery sysyems seperate the main cranking battery when the ignition is turned off ( battery isolation) have a look at Traxide http://www.traxide.com.au/ their systems shares the load over all batterys until the voltage drops to a level which is not enough to start your car it then isolates the cranking battery but in the mean time it uses the capacity of all the batteries in the system , it is a lot easier to install as well ,  also it is worth looking at http://www.hkbelect.com/

these guys replace the alternator fuse which increases the charge voltage by .5v to .6v which in some cases is enough to keep all your batteries charged , i am not associated with these guys at all but i have a new 200 Series being converted in Brisbane ATM , looks a bit criminal as the car has only done 10KM (see picture)

Thank you every one for your advise and recommendations, I have had the work done by "Bashi's Auto Electrical" at Caboolture.

They have done a very neat professional job exactly as I wanted it and I am very happy with the work.

Thanks again for all who gave me their input.

Kind Regards Jim.
