Chris Posted August 1, 2018 Report Share Posted August 1, 2018 Recently we were having trouble with the heater taking several goes at starting (it would start the turn on process , blow cold air, then stop. It would do this twice before a final third try was successful). And so a couple of weeks ago Val cleaned out the whole unit and it now runs smooth as silk. He said he changed the glow plug and cleaned the mesh of all the accumulated gunk (carbon?). I gather it was tricky to get to the unit due to its placement, but more modern vans may have a different siting. Our van is a 2009 build. I think he changed the glow plug because he damaged the old one getting it out.... So the diesel heater went 9 years with little to no attention.
