  2. Hi John

I wasn't told I needed the 1000lb WDH with 6t McHitch,I will give you a call this week or weekend if thats ok..I would like to see it.

I will order the new adaptor plate from McHitch as the one I have has been welded to the existing hitch. I had forgotten that, Thanks John

    Cheers Phil

  3. Hi Chris

Thanks for info re chains and headstock, I have not done any adjustments yet.

I weighed the ball weight today and found it to be 350kg with no fuel in jerry cans or gas in bottles.

So I have ordered the 1000lb unit today..

I have not seen a 1000lb unit and can not find any pic's either,,Hoping it will help with the load.

Has the stainless steel helped ?. Do the bar clamps still move ?. Do you use the 750lb or 1000lb unit ?

    Twenty Questions

    Cheers Phil

  4. Hi Mick

I have a 6t McHitch and use WDH , I carry a 450kg quad bike on the back and a 4m tinnie up top, I dont know what my vans ball weight is,lots I'm sure, but with the bars under tension, I made a wide U turn and then found later that I have bent the clamps that attach the bars to the draw bar. I think because the pivot points are not in line with each other on the turn the bars pushed the clamps back and the bolts gouged the inside of the draw bar. I am going to continue using the WDH as it improves the ride and handling of my truck.

Just be mindful of sharp turns with the McHitch and WDH fitted.

    Cheers Phil

  5. Hi All

We also use the 6 ton Mc Hitch and like the fact the hitch pin is not readily available for bad guys ..win for the good guys !!!

we also use our WDH bars and dont have any problems.

I now wouldn't tow a van of this weight with any other hitch

And no I dont have any connection with Mr Mc Hitch !!!

    Cheers Phil

  8. Hi All

We have a 21" Topender with a cafe dinette, when we bought the van it was in stock so we took it. we are now going to have the dinette taken out and put in L shaped lounge with removable table. Does anyone have a L shaped lounge ?, Are there any pro's and con's for this ?,

We are also going to take off the padded cover over the front window and replace it with a lift up cover that will cover most of the front window area, the reason for this is we like to sleep with the window open and if it rains the frame fills with water and then runs in the van ..will post some pic's when completed.

    Thanks in advance

    Phil & Darlene

  9. Hi Rob

There has been discussion recently on fridges, Vitrifrigo V's Engels, I think I would of chosen engel had I had the choice, I think you loose the cupboard below the 230lt if you choose the engel.

The smaller water tank is maybe a weight issue. We purchased an extra 100lt tank and fitted it myself, we now have 300lt washing and 100lt drinking. Our tow truck is an Effe so weight is not an issue.

    Good luck with Van purchase.

    Cheers Phil

  11. Hi Dave

I have had the fridge up to 4, it was defrosted only days ago and the van has just sat in my driveway nobody opening the door. today I took out the tray under the freezer and it made a massive difference and have moved the van undercover so I hope that will also help.thanks for your input.

  13. Hi Bill

I took your advice on the computer fan and added to it..I got a light sensing switch from JAYCAR which can be used for day or night switching..it has a light sensor built in. I have put it inside the back door of fridge so when the door is open in daylight hours the fan will start up and turn off before we go to bed.I have also fitted a fuse and master switch so we can turn it off.I am yet to see the out come as we are having cooler days. Yet the fridge temp is on 3 deg c and inside van 30 c.post-1028-1296984309_thumb.jpg Bill do you know what temp your fridge runs at ?

  14. Hi All

Thanks for info,,I open the vent door when ever we stop,I pull out the tray,I have checked the wiring in the back door,we have had the gas levels checked.. surely we dont have to turn it up and down morning and night...I am going to try and contact manufactures.

    Cheers Phil :confused1:
