  1. Hi Tony

Just a side question while I am doing my brakes I am going to replace all the wheel bearings and was wondering

what method  you use to remove the inner bearing cones the outer ones are easy buy just tapping them out with

a punch but inner ones are hard to get to.

    Cheers Kakadu

  3. I agree with everything Merv has said, we went there in 2014 and left our van at Drysdale station for 3 nights, went to Mitchell falls and Kalumburu and just used the awning on side of chev with a mossie screen clipped on to it and a self inflating mattress, was a good experience but because of how rough the road was I am glad we left the TE there. They are a tough van but some times a little common sense can help.

  4. Hi Colin

I fitted my diesel care filter to firewall under bonnet on passenger side I used the mounting bracket

that mounted the filler neck of my adblue tank which I removed I will try and post a picture. Also since

photo I have changed both fuel filters according to truck computer which was saying I have 25% of use

left in them. I never let it go below 25%, but I always keep an eye on the glass bowl on bottom of Diesel

Care filter and drain every couple of weeks.

  5. Hi Colin

Tony is right, I sent diesel care an email and asked them what I needed for my chev which was a filter head

and filter and some hose, The length of the hose depends where your original filter is mounted. I mounted

the new filter to the firewall. Part number for filter is 31863.

  6. Hi to all

I can recommend purple, as an ex tanker driver all the drivers used purple on our alloy wheels and fuel tanks

and they came up like mirrors and made the truck look smik. If you polished them on a regular basis it was an easy

job to do, even had one bloke that would lie on his back and polish underneath his tanks and when asked why he

would say that if he ever ran over anybody they would see themselves as he went over them.

  7. Hi Doug

I have kept the 20ins rims on my 2011 silverado and fitted Micky Thompson LT305/22/20 Baga MTZ muds. Last year

I damaged a rim up in the Bungle Bungles and had to change it and had no problems fitting it into the spare wheel

compartment, 18 & 20ins tires have close to the same diameter because the 18s have a higher sidewall.

I am looking at fitting LT285/55/20 BF Goodridge alterains or Micky Thompson ATZ P3.

    Cheers

  8. Hi Colin

Since owning the chev back in 2011 I have never used the WDH and have never had any issues with the van even when the better half is driving weather it be off road or passing road trains etc.

I still us use the WDH hitch tongue because I have been unable to get one that is rated to carry the weight with enough height so the van would be level when towing. The one you show looks pretty

good but even if I turn it upside down I still won't get the height I need so looks like I will have to see if an engineer can make me one up.

    Regards Tony

  9. Thanks Dave

Will take those points on board and looks like I will have to visit bunnings, dam I loose to much time when I go there.

Also I realize the bracket lifts the dish higher but it is still under the height of the aircon and the koggers I met at Bundaberg had already had the dish fitted and were going to Kedron to have the bracket fitted because the dish was causing a lot of flex in the roof when operating.

    Regards Tony

  10. Hi Bryan

I hope the Pics work. As you see after mounting the satellite dish on the mounting bracket Kedron fitted for me I ran the wires down under the 2 solar panels on drivers side of van using wire clips drilled into solar panel mounting brackets to hold the wires and drilled through the roof under the front panel into the inside of the cupboard where I mounted the control box as per pics. to work out where to drill hole in roof I used the inside of the front window frame as a reference point and measured to the inside of the cupboard and then transferred the measurements out side and on to the roof which worked out great because being under the solar panel and fitting the cover plate which came with the wires and using selastic I don't think it will ever leak. I also shortened the the 2 coax cables and the electrical wires, taking a picture of the wiring plug with my phone so that I was sure I rewired the plug the same as suggested by David (cvtripper) which makes good sense not having a lot of cables rolled up inside the cupboard.

  11. Hello Danny,

The handbook says you have to use an engine oil with a API rating of CI-4. ALL the reputable oil companies have this rated oil in their everyday range and it is stocked in every auto parts store, so don't stress,

    Cheers

    Steve

Hi Steve I think you will find that API Rating CI-4 was for pre 2011 chevs that did not have the Adblu set up on them and they went to API CJ-4

  12. Hi Danny

I can't help you with the adblu I removed mine just after I got my chev and as for the oil the spec calls for a CJ-4, and I have been bying it from Cummins Deasel for the last 3 years

Called Premiun Blue Extream 15-w40 made by Valvolin, and Cummins are in most capitol cities, I have also noticed that the spec CJ-4 is starting to appear in the Supercheap

stores too in other brands or oil.

    Regards a different Tony
