Hi Leon,
It sounds like you have dropped a hose off the turbo. There has been a few questions in relation to this on the Duramax Forum.

Good luck with that one Danny. I know there is a ATV currently on Caravan Sales but I think it is a combined shower/toilet. To be separate it will have to be a pretty sizeable unit because of the size of the bunks..

3x 135 solar with 3x 120amp batteries Standard power fitting back in 2012. We have found this to be all that we need.

Hi BJW44
We have a Waeco (Dometic) 215ltr compressor fridge and it hasn't missed a beat in all our travels in and around the tropics, from high humidity to desert heat. We also run a Valtera fridge fan on the bottom shelf of the fridge and it has improved the performance greatly.

I have not put any poster down nor is it or was it my intention to do so. I can only talk from experience particularly when dealing with motor vehicle accidents caused (particularly trucks) by or through over loading and the inability to pull up. If any person is considering on this upgrade, fine, my suggestion is to also consider a brake upgrade in the package as well.
Dismart, I am pleased that your combination works well, I would be interested to know what it weighs fully loaded for an extended trip.

I have to agree with you Steve, and I have said it many times when the talk of towing upgrades on the 200 Series, you have to increase the braking capacity first otherwise in an emergency you won't pull up a 4 tonne van, it will simply keep pushing you forward. Do the maths, weight of a 200 series vs the loaded weight of say a 21' TE fully loaded. I know what will be the winner and it ain't going to be the 200 series. I just don't want to be the next vehicle in front of you.
Chris, I would be very surprised if you even received a warning for being 100kgs overweight in the scheme of things. In one of my previous lives we worked on a minimum of 10% but I know things have changed in latter years and don't forget you can add ten times more than 100kgs simply by driving along the Oodnadatta Track after it rains.
This is just another one of the big questions being raised in relation to the current dual cab utes and their 3.5t towing capacity. There is a very strong case and recommendation that they tow no more than 3.2t simply for the braking capacity. They will tow them but stopping them is another thing altogether.

Hi Havago
The globes look like they are similar to the 50 watt halogen two pin push in type, if that is the case they should simply pull out with a little care. Otherwise the G type globes that will turn to either left or right then pull out. Try a little upward pressure then try to turn one way or the other.

Hi guys
I wonder when the boys at Kedron are finally going to realise that their big vans are coming in way over weight and their unrealistic 600kgs of load is questionable particularly when nearly 300 of that is taken up with water. Have I spoken to them, yes, do they listen, no.

Hi Bas
They both have their advantages and disadvantages I think that it depends on your application. I run airbags under the rear of the Silverado but only to level the van which when hooked up only drops the rear of the tug 25mm. I think that they also help considerably with duck diving but saying that the only combination and probably the best is the air hitch.
I spoke to a guy up Lake Argyle last Aug/Sep towing with a Silverado and he runs the air hitch with rear airbags as well and he said it was the best most comfortable ride/tow he has ever had. He tried with a WDH but removed it, he found that his combination only fought each other. The same thing applies to the Land Rovers with airbag suspension, WDH is strongly not recommended and in fact will void warranty .
So I think it just boils down to what suits your application best.
Oh, and 55psi in an airbag on the rear of a Chev Silverado is nothing to say the least.

Excellent John. A very simple way to explain the differences of air bags to WDH. Basically the air bags adjust the level of the towing vehicle's body and does very little to share the load weight where as the WDH adjusts the angle of the chassis and shares the weight between the tug and the trailer. The only disadvantage of the WDH is during tight turns, the stresses placed on the tow hitch can be extremely over stressing the hitch and should be disconnected. This would be a good video to place on all the caravan forums for all to see.

HI Mickanann welcome to the forum.
A little bit more information is needed to try to solve your problem. How much is in your batteries, how much going in with full sun on panels and if drained can you connect to power either generator or plug to recharge. How old are the batteries. Try reset button your solar controller. Then we might be able to assist. In the meantime checkout your bible and read the instructions re your solar charging.

Hi GnA
We run a 4g pre paid Wi Fi Pro through a 3/4G antenna on the truck when travelling and we also have a separate antenna on the van when stationary in camp and we have found this to be a great combination. You can use your 6s as a hotspot but your range will be greatly improved if you run it through a cradle connected to an antenna and it will keep your phone powered.

This was a short reply to the same question on another forum and I thought it wise that I post it here for all those who may be contemplating the trip with their van.
The short answer GG is if they did, they shouldn't have :O. Caravans are no longer permitted on the Mitchell Plateau Road past the King Edward River campground, which is an ideal place to stay, and leave caravans for a day trip or overnight tenting at the Falls campground.

Here is the phone number of the Drysdale River Station 08) 9161 4326. All the numbers that you need are only a simple Google away. The Stations are the best source of information about the road conditions, and the absolute best information is from the other travellers that you meet on the Gibb and Kalumburu Roads. Kedron's are tough but those two roads are van destroyers...

We were up there in August 2016 and the Gibb was pretty rough with the van(TE) on the back, at times incredibly bad that we snapped off the 3g antennae at the base on the rear of the van. We spoke to a number of people about the road up to Mitchell Falls and were advised not to attempt it at the time with the van. The road up to Drysdale from the Gibb turn off was ok but bad in sections, from there to the Mitchell Falls turn off was bloody rough and from the turn off into the Falls took one couple 7 hours just to get there (normally a two hour trip) and then they had to get back. It will all boil down to the road conditions at the time and what information you can gather when you are up there. The road condition is constantly changing with use and weather. Good luck, I believe that it is a fantastic place to visit but we were not prepared to destroy the van.

Welcome to the forum. Find yourself a quality repairer in or around Mildura and any teething problems with your van contact Robyn at Kedron Service and you will probably find that they will come to the party for repair costs. This is what we have done in Melbourne. They are a great Company to deal with and are second to none when it comes to after market service as you will find out.

Secondly how long did it take from the time you dropped your van off until you picked it up. I know that it would depend on what you had done but it might just give me an indication of the time involved and to take into consideration cost of additional accommodation when next up that way.

A simple solution to the problem is to order and place a bicycle rack number plate down on the bumper, problem solved. This topic was done to death on more than one of the caravan/explore oz forums months ago.
If you are travelling through a State other than the one where your vehicle was registered the registration requirements of the home State apply.
Kedron made a kit up to lower the standard height of their number plates down to the number under the spares.

About bloody time...........I am sick and tired of the idiots out there on the roads towing vastly overweight rigs and I am looking forwards to some infringements for not having towing mirrors as well. We have been close to being ran off the road on two occasions because of no towing mirrors. "I'm sorry I didn't see you" came back on the cb on one occassion, the other was mute even though there was a cb aerial fitted.
Happy trails

Hi guys
Unless things have changed since we took delivery of our TE in Aug 2012 there is a very good chance you will need:-
wheel brace if you tugs is not compatable to check tightness after 100kms
25 mt food grade water hose. Various tap connectors and joiners
30 mt smooth bore sullage hose preferably
a jack if you haven't bought a Trailermate with the van

Thanks for the link, some great reading in there. I loved the article on the Lotus, they have certainly come a long way in the last couple of years.

I was having a chat with Graham yesterday and he said that Kedron now require an Air Safe Hitch be fitted if you purchase one of their heavier vans...

Caravan Storage in Darwin
in Public Forum
Posted
Hi Graeme
There is a guy who lives in Humpty Do on five acres just out of Darwin and a CMCA member who was offering storage to members. I have tried to find his details but unfortunately to no avail. If you can send the CMCA an email and they just might be able to help. I know there is storage at the airport but I don't know if it is short or long term or how secure it is. I will keep digging for you just in case I can find it.
Found it....
