  1. Hi Bas.

You are correct they do work differently but I would not hesitate in saying I would prefer airbags to a wdh any day.  I run 15psi normally on the Chev just running around town  and with the van on the back loaded, and we go just under 4t I run 30+psi, so I would put a little more into your bags and you might find they work a little better and your wdh might just go out the window.

  2. We have one of these tanks under our TE and this has opened up far more freedom camping sites to us particularly in QLD.  The only problem now is disposal, after 24 hours your grey water becomes black water and therefore must be dumped at a dump point and the treatment we use is the Odour Be Gone tablets and between trips we flush it out with sodium meta bisulphate, we never keep grey water in the tank more than 24 hours if we can help it.  There are plenty of trees in the world that can use a little water if we have to drain the tank with a bucket and if kept longer, the closest dump point which can unfortunately prematurely fill them quicker.

  3. Hi Brian

It is basically an old (from the 50's) American car polish that really works. You can get it at Autobahn and I think Supercheap at around $20.00. Use sparingly and gently but it does remove scratches from the windows. It is in a light purple bottle and brand name PURPLE POLISH. Be careful if you use Jiff as it has little grains in it that can do more damage than good.

  4. Hi Jim

I got my GME TX3540 from GadgetCity online, they were the cheapest, but some offer deals which include aerials so have a good look at them. Mine was $398.00 del. I use a 6+dbi 900mm aerial which gives me good overall reception which I have fitted it into a factory mount position on the Chev. But I have also fitted a 3g aerial using a "bonnet mount" because I too don't have or want a bull bar. There are specific models of the mount available for various vehicles so just ask Mr Google.. "CB bonnet mount 200 series LandCruiser".

  5. Hi Geoff

A very smart move and a simple job to do. Camec led's for all your downlights and a very easy to change over as for the exterior square light there is a fluro to led globe available from most of the RV shops for clip in replacement. I was looking at them a couple of days ago to replace our externals. Kedron do a conversion I think around $90ea and I found the globes online for around $39.00.

  6. I was wondering if anyone had wired their air compressor for an Anderson plug. Is this a viable thing to do or not.

    Regards

    Roly

    Hi Roly

That is exactly as I did and also left enough wire for a battery hook up and put another Anderson plug on that so I can join them together if needed. The last time I had to use it I used the power plug at the back (12v power to van) of the truck which gave me enough cable and hose to reach all the tyres on the van.

  7. Hi Ian.

Why don't you simply put a double Fiamma bike rack on the "A" Frame, this is where Kedron fit them. Simple matter to bolt on and lot safer there than out the back where there is a greater chance of losing it due to the extremes of movement at this location.

  8. Hi Doug

Give it some serious thought, I did. Do some checking where you are to see if you have a supply of 20's and how easily they can ship to an isolated area should you need it. There was a truck at Birdsville Races last year that had Coopers in 20's all round and the prices I had in Melbourne were just a tad under $700 each and then the spare was incompatible with them as it is only a higher profile 18" rim. I don't think that you will fit a 20" spare in the compartment under the truck, the Coopers S/T Maax's at 275/70's that I am running only just fit in. We have nearly done 30k on ours now and they have performed brilliantly on all road and off road types and wearing quite well. If you decide to stay with 20's and are in need of spare rims then I have four available. There is a guy I have dealt with in Roy, Utah via Ebay that usually has 18" oem rims at some very good prices and his shipping costs are reasonable. I was in Performax in Gympie a couple of weeks ago for a sticky beak and they had a supply of 20's but I don't know what price, if it is anything like their truck prices they will be dear. Hope this helps.

Canopy, we have a Snug Top at around 3.5K colour coded, if i had the money I would put a camper back on with gull wing doors and the spares on the rear.

Let me know and I will try to find his details if you cannot get rims here.

  9. Hi Doug and Lis

For info about the location of the CB and radio fitment go to www.duramaxforum.com in the General discussion - interior put in the search for CB antenna mounting location. Any other questions about your Chev can also be found on this site, they have helped me out a couple of times.
