  1. I couldn't find a thread on this topic, so here comes my question!

I would like to put a sloping privacy screen off the awning on the Compact. They seem to slide into the slot on the awning roll-out cylinder and then are pegged down at the bottom.

Research tells me there are a few commercially made ones around - Camec for instance.

Any recommendations? We live in Brisbane, so a local supplier would be good.

    Thanks!

    BREAKING NEWS !!!!

PM Scott Morrison has announced that due to the new Indian COVID variant - vindaflu - people will now be offered the Pun jab.

Please start taking this Indian COVID variant seriously guys!!

My neighbour caught it and has been in a korma for a week, and he’s only just buried his naan who apparently had a dodgy tikka.

  3. Just wanted to say a big "Thank-you" to Tony for the Clearview mirrors he supplied to me. Not only a great price, but they were here surprisingly quickly - only a couple of days. I fitted them to the Fortuner today and (apart from dropping a couple of screws into hard to retrieve places!) they are all solid and ready to go when the new van arrives.

  4. Hey, Baileys - thanks for the reply. Yep, the washer is a must, even at that price. I am going for the slide-out drawer, but with a front spot to put in a Baby-Q and a smaller drawer behind. We're seriously looking at the lift-up leg extensions, but also considering the more narrow fridge with bottom drawer, since it gives a little more bench space. (Glen did a video of a van in early December with this option) Sorry to hear about the storm damage - just lucky you bought a Kedron and the team will do the repairs without you waiting months for them to do the job...and you know it will be done properly!

    Cheers!

  5. Hi Joiners, just saw your post...call me slow! We put our order in for the XC-3 Compact at the show and expect delivery in May 18. We hummed and ha'ad for some time, but opted for the Compact because of the ease of towing and the ability to not have to shell out for a bigger tow tug. Having done a lot of camper-trailing and tent camping the smaller van won't be an issue, I expect. See you out there somewhere.

  6. Well, we went to the Brisbane Caravan show and have finally placed our order for a brand spanking new XC-3 Compact. The team at Kedron were really helpful as always and it was great to stir up the Patriarch (Baz) with my Qld jersey. Now, we wait until May 18 and in the meantime get the van's parking area at home all set up. Finally got the new DVD on Maytown - if you haven't seen it, it is the most extreme treatment for the van and the drivers that the Boys have done in 20 years of filming.

  7. Rob, the key thing is replacing it with the same type and capacity of battery; brand should not be an issue. Your charging system is probably set up for a particular type of battery - in this case the AGM and set for 120 ah. Yes, different batteries have different charging requirements. Having said that - talk to an expert as well!

    Cheers!

Don't forget the bonfire on Guy Faulks night on the 6th? November.  It's been that long ago I am not sure of the day.  Great penny bungers in the neighbours letter box, sky rockets and chasing your mate up the road with a shooting fountain.

I have so many fond memories of cracker night...but the cane toads in Mackay back then might not have! Having said that, go to the Territory on Territory Day and take your life in your hands when they start letting off crackers and rockets after a day of imbibing amber fluid!

  9. Hello again.

I contacted Kedron and received a very nice reply from Glen Gall.

With regards to the towing question, you might have a bit more breathing space than first thought, as the Compacts are limited to an ATM of 2500kg, and the 2013 D22 Nissan Navara 2.5 litre common rail turbo diesel, with a heavy duty towbar has a braked towing capacity of 3000kgs by the reports. The Compact loaded, should still well allow for loading of the vehicle (while considering the amount of vehicle accessories that's been fitted) within it’s GVM, and guessing the towball limit is 300kgs, and the Compact should be well within that as well. Power-wise your vehicle should be very capable, and excluding any unknown factors, can’t see why you would need upgrade vehicles to tow one of the Compacts at the moment.

So, for general info to all, it looks like the D22 Navara is adequate to tow the XC-3 Compact.

    Cheers!
  10. Pete,

Thanks for the advice. In all reality, we won't be looking at upgrading (yeah...famous last words!) - shelling out the 70 Grand for the XC-3 Compact will push the envelope on the budget. In addition, I think smaller 16-footer is just about all we'll be able to accommodate in the space we have at home. My plan is to get SWMBO and myself into a factory tour at Kedron and ask them directly about tow vehicles for the Compact...the boys might send me packing off to Toyota...who knows?

    Cheers!
