  1. Hi Robert & Jane

We have our van insured with GIO. the agreed value of van is $90,000 plus contents value of $5,000, with an excess of $200. The premium is $829.25

We were with AAMI for same cover but $300 excess and premium of $904.

CIL quote was $1290 with $200 excess.

    Cheers

    Alan

  2. Alan & Liz,

Apologies for posting a reply with a different subject, but was not able to PM you.

I notice you have a Range Rover to tow a 19'6" van. We are thinking about getting a similar size van and not sure about what tow vehicle to get. Am interested in either the Disco 3.0 TDV6 or the RR Sport TDV8, however... I understand that that Land Rover recommends a WDH is not used because of the self-adjusting suspension? And, that if a WDH is used that it will negate the LR warranty? Has this proved to be an issue with you?

    Regards, Phil.

    Hi Phil,

There has been no problems in not using a WDH, the air suspension is excellent as it levels the car and van up perfectly and the van tows very well.

Another good thing about the air suspension is when used with a rear camera on the car it makes hitching and unhitching a breeze. Just backup under the hitch, push the up button and the car comes up hitches up without leaving the drivers seat and all without have an argument with the wife.

    Cheers Alan

  3. Hi Russ,

Thanks for the reply. It appears that this is normal, so I have put a 10watt solar panel on the roof of the shed and wired it in through the PL40 regulator to keep a trickle charge going into the batteries. I will monitor this for a while and if it does not keep the batteries up I will put a time in line on the charger to come on say once a week for 1 hour.

    Cheers Alan

  4. Hi everyone,

I'm having problems with my battery charger ( Victron ce 12/40 Centaur ) in that when I have stored my van away in the shed and plug the 240v power in, the battery charger cooling fan keeps running 24/7. Can anyone tell me if this is normal, or should the unit shut down completly.

    Cheers Alan
