Jacky Jacky Posted October 16, 2015 Report Posted October 16, 2015 We have not had this problem. What model Waco do you have? Condensation does build up around the seal of the freezer at times. There is a switch near the freezer door hinge (see manual that should be in a binder Kedron gave you) that you can turn on that gets rid of the condensation (should turn it to 'off' when you are in 12V as it can chew up power if inverter is on).Perhaps contact Kedron (Ashley) and ask him. Hope you find a solution. Quote
Yabbietol Posted October 17, 2015 Report Posted October 17, 2015 We picked up our 16' XC3 21st of Sep and have the 250l Waeco fridge, so far it is working well as a fridge, on pickup it was set on 5 and after some experimentation we have set it to 2 and it appears to be working very well. We quite like it and despite being a compressor fridge it is very quiet. During our first service we asked for the freezer door to be adjusted as we were getting a build up of ice inside the top of the freezer. By the finger prints left on the freezer door it was adjusted, however ice is still building up in the freezer. We did not defrost fridge as we were travelling, so ice build up may have been exacerbated by the existing ice build up from before door adjustment. Also we did turn off the 12V fridge "heater" switch to save power when off grid. Currently we are defrosting the fridge and will then turn back on with no ice build up at all in freezer. Then we can objectively see if ice builds up and maybe try with 12V heater element off then on. Not wanting to jump to conclusions, but we may have a similar problem. However, we do want to be sure if the problem is still occurring after the door adjustment, before taking it to Kedron. Quote

Yabbietol Posted November 7, 2015 Report Posted November 7, 2015 (edited) Please note I made an error in the above posting ours is also a WACO 215l not a 250l. Sorry about that; we have been travelling for about 2 weeks this time and the freezer is icing up a little bit, particularly along the inside top, but it is manageable. Also it seems to occur less with the 12V heater element switch on, we now only turn the element off when on battery power. Time will tell if this is an ongoing problem.
