  1. Hi Folk,

We are looking at replacing the tyres on our Van and are wondering what people are putting on their vans. We are after very durable tyres as we do a fair amount of off-road . Also what batteries are you useing when replacing your 12volt battery bank ?

    Many thanks

    Andy & Di

  2. Hi all

Yes we had a win with the insurance company, however the fight is not over, they may have overturned the decision to fix our truck but the communication from them to get things happening is dreadfull.

I did however call KT to get a quote and they were not to bad on price, definitely someone we will consider at renewal time.

    anyway happy travels to all.

  3. Thank you for your comments. Apparently the laws changed and farmers can no longer be held responsible financially however on the flip side it also means that we are not liable for the dead cow.

we have asked for our complaint to be escalated to the IDR team, we now have to wait 45days to slow them to respond before we can go to the ombudsman.

    thanks Andy

    Hi Guys

Just though Id share out recent experience with Club 4x4 insurance.

We had an accident with a cow over easter, taking out the front of the cruiser. I tried to call the insurance company only to find they are only open Mon - Fri 8 - 4pm.

Given that it was easter weekend I called them first thing Tuesday morning to advise them of the accident. I was asked to supply photos, dash cam footage, driving history and rego papers for the cruiser which i did. A few days went by and I hadnt heard anything from them, so i called and got told once they has something to tell me they would contact me.

On Wednesday 11th April I received a call from the claims dept of club 4x4 and they confirmed for me that the cruiser would be repaired and that it would be transported from Gin Gin to Mackay, where we are currently. They also provided me the name if the repairer.

On Thursday I call the repairer to see that they have received communication from the insurance company and they confirmed for me they had... Happy days or so I thought.

On Friday I received a text message to call club 4x4 urgently, so I called only to be told by a claims consultant that my claim has been denied and my policy cancelled do to non-disclosure of 9 vehicle insurance claims prior to inception of the policy which was back on 6th April 2017.

I was flabbergasted as I knew this not to be true, I asked them to send me the report.

On closer inspection of the report from IRS, there is 1 at fault claim for Jemma and 4 windscreen replacements (not all for the same vehicle) that are dated prior to the date of inception of the policy. There is 1 at fault claim for Dalton and 2 windscreen claims ( again not for the same vehicle) and a closed claim from Allianz all dated after the date of inception.

I have have been in touch with RACQ who was the insurance company for all claims bar 1 windscreen which was with Club 4x4. and they have advised me that windscreen claims and not a claim on your insurance but rather a benefit that is supplied to you on the purchase of your fully comprehensive policy. Both policy's for the at fault accidents for Jemma and Dalton are in both mine and their names.

Allianz is not even a claim but rather an inquiry, someone backed into me and I made an inquiry as to the excess and whether I should claim it through insurance, it turned out the excess was more that the cost to repair the car so I personally paid for the repairs.

I have gone back to Club 4x4 with this information and asked for my complaint to be escalated.

On Tuesday 17th I received a call from the claims manager of Club 4x4 whom informs me now that I proven them wrong on the statement of the non disclosure of 9 vehicle insurance claims, they have now decided to move the goal posts and tell me that the claim Dalton had which was after the inception of the policy was not disclosed to them at time of policy renewal, that their decision to deny my claim and cancel my policy stands. So my question here was, why is this accident in contention when it was Dalton's claim and not mine. Apparently I am dishonest and now deemed a high risk for insurance.

Today I have written to the Internal Dispute Resolution committee and requested a review of the decision and I supplied them all of the above information. I have asked them the question, this If I am held responsible for my kids accidents does that mean they are held responsible for this accident (Andy was driving).

Now we have to wait upto 45 days for an answer......

In the mean time I asked if we could move the cruiser and I was told by the claims manager " do what you like its your car". I have now made arrangements to have the cruiser transported from Gin Gin to Mackay to the nominated repairer, totally at my cost of course and of course I now have to pay for the accident tow and the storage fees as well.

I will keep u posted on the outcome, but please if you are insured with Club 4x4 be careful as they clearly are not easy to deal with and in the event of an accident you may have a fight on your hands like we do.

Please feel free to share my experience with others that you feel may need to know.

    Regards Di & Andy Grant

  5. HI All

Its been a while since we've posted to the forum.

We decided on purchasing an offroad van, we researched the market and decided that we would by one from the opposition, we went to the caravan show ready to sign and pay money, we stood in the stand in the sight of the sales man (as they were busy) for about 30 mins waiting for someone to come to us, during this time we decided to check out the vans on display, needless to say we were disappointed, a big white chain up only allowing us access to about a meter inside the van, you were not allowed to open or close any cupboards or drawers, I couldn't even go to the other end of the van to check out the bathroom. Getting pretty frustrated we decided to move on and decided to do the transaction at the factory.

On our way out of the show we had to walk through the Kedron display, Glen Gall was there and straight away came upto us and wanted to show us his vans, we explained to him that had already made a decision on the brand of van we were wanting, thanked him and went to walk on. To our surprise he said, thats ok but can I show you anyway. We then spent the next 3 hours with Glen, he showed us the ins and outs of the top ended (as this was the offroad equivalent to what we wanted), we were so impressed with not only the display, workmanship, sales advise and service we bought a Kedron Topender, now we are still working and dont get to use the van as often as we would like, but we are planning our big lap and will be on the road in about 18mths.

    Just my 2 cents worth

    Regards

    Di

  6. Hi Ricky

We are new to Kedron Caravaning, in fact new to caravaning full stop, We have done plenty of traveling with a camper trailer. I can tell you that we researched caravans for nearly a 12 months before we made the decission, it is a lot of money to spend and you certainly want to make sure you are getting what you pay for. We purchased a top ender and although our van second hand and we love it. Coming to the Christmas gathering in Canungra would definately give you the opportunity to meet other kedron owners and pick their brains... They say customer testamonials is the best way to get the truth about the product they have purchased.

    Hope to see you there....

  7. Hi All

Just wondering if anyone else is has the 79 series ute as a tow vehicle and would you be interested in sharing your modifications you have done to your ute.

We just pick our up, so far we are very impressed how it drives, however, we did try and hook our van up only to find the WDS we currently have is not compatable with the ute because of the lift it has, so we are having to purchase a longer hitch and heavy WDS to accomodate the height of the truck.

We are fitting the new hitch this week and then hopefully (fingers crossed) we can see how the cruiser will perform towing.

Would love to hear what modifications people have done to make their vehicle more comfortable and compatable for towing.

    Our list so far:

    Dual battery system

    12000lb winch

rear heavy duty air bag suspension

    on board compressor

    4 in lift

    3" exhaust

looks like we have a oil cooler fitted for the gear box ?? not sure but thats what it looks like

    Clearview mirrors Thanks Tony H

    Cab roof Rack

    Light bars and HID spotties

    HID upgrade to headlights

    6 start Electronic rust prevention

    electric brakes

    Roof console

    UHF radio

    Soon to add

    Remote Central Locking

    Reversing Camera

    Pyro and boost gauges

In cab air controller for airbags

Maybe, change the passenger seat from 3/4 to Bucket

    Canopy

Fridge slides for 2 40L engels

canopy battery and solar setup for charging

and a partridge in a pear tree.......

Look forward to hearing your feedback.

    Regards

  8. Hi Tony

can you I please get a price of you for the clear view mirrors, we have a 07 landcruiser cab chassis. is there any cost difference between black to chrome or indicators to no indicators?

Are the Mirrors the only thing you have access to from clearview? I am also interested in there fridge slide.

    Thanks Di

  9. We to have a 2.4 Yamaha ,can you please tell me do you run the generator on the slide .

    Thanks

    Hi Peter

we did run our generator on the slide, we previously had a honda/engel 1kva, we have just upgraded to the 2.4kva and as you have stated it is rather heavy so we have sort a different slide same as the one in the photo above and we will be running the yamaha on that slide too.

    hope that was helpful.

    Regards

  11. HI All

we are newbies to caravanning, we have travelled quite a lot with our camper trailer but age has got the better of us and we have now purchased a topender 21ft. we are planning our next long venture in 18mths to do The Outback Way. but I am sure there will be many more shorter travels before then. We are looking forward to meeting like minded people and hoping to creating new friendships within the club.

I do have a quick question - what sort of slides are people using for there generators and bbqs?

we have a weberQ (middle size) and we have just purchased the Yamaha 2.4kva generator. we put the genie in the box on the drivers side of the van and it only just fits with no slide so I was wondering if anyone else is using the same genie on a slide?, I plan on putting the weber in the storage box on the passenger side and wondered if anyone else is using a swivel type slide for the bbq?

I have been researching but there are so many different types its hard to choose the one that will do the job.

    Thanks in advance.
