  1. Hi

Glen & I will be in Brunswick Heads up to the 30th March.

If passing or looking for somewhere to go, Brunswick is a great spot - need to book. We are at the Terrace Reserve Caravan Park.

Don't forget the kayak/canoe and bikes.

    Cheers

  2. Hi Peter

Glen & I travelled from Birdsville to Coober Pedy via Maree and onto Alice Springs, etc in 2006 and again in the opposite direction in 2007 and what is a must see if you have time, is Muloorina Station which is approx 1k outside Maree heading up to Lake Eyre. It is a camping area along side a man made lake fed from a bore. It is supposed to have approx 160 different bird species in the area. There are flushing toilets. Campfires allowed - best to take a supply of wood if you can. The cost was $2 per night which was donated to the RFDS. In 2006 we were the only ones there along with another couple we met at Birdsville who asked if they could join us. In 2007 there were approx 4 other campers.

  3. Thanks Rosco and Jeff

We were thinking of the 3300w genquip as our airconditioner is 3000w.

We are off to the show on Wed and will talk to them all there and we will either bring home a generator or go back to the drawing board trying to decide just what we want the generator for - ultimately to charge the batteries & I think we will forget about the aircon. Glen was also very interested in a Yamaha.

  4. Hi Laurie and Helen

we are off to Tassie in November for 5wks. We have booked the ferry and have our itinerary all ready for us to go. Yep that damn lotto just keeps evading us too.

Will keep you in mind when we do our trip for must sees and/or must avoid. We are doing the island anti clockwise. Glen has picked out 4 or 5 bases for us to do day tours from.

We have been advised that there are some amazing free camps in Tassie.

We are also hoping to do a couple of weeks in the South Island of New Zealand next year in a motorhome, so any advice is very welcome. Love doing the bush walks.

  5. Hi

Thanks for the vote of confidence in our fitness:)

We went there a few years back - it was the last year they had the campground at the start of the walks open. There were approx 20 of us including young children and on our first day, we all did the 22k walk. The only problem Glen & I had was our footwear - I had a faithful pair of joggers and Glen had redback work boots - at the end of the day, once we took our shoes off - we had difficulty getting them back on due to very nasty blisters - had to bust the one on my little toe to even consider getting my foot back in the shoe. As soon as we got to the creek near the campground we took off our shoes and just let them go numb in the very refreshing water and really wanted to just spend the next few days with my feet in the creek:)

We continued to walk each day - very slowly - and got to do most, but not all. So we plan to do it all again and hopefully take in the walks we missed out on - and will let you know how it goes - is there a prize for doing the whole walk again - maybe share some port at the next campfire. We also now have very worn in and very suitable hiking boots and since a bit older - hiking sticks:) I am also being a woosy and have booked a powered site to plug in the electric heater - might even consider an electric blanket:)

Chris also mentioned the dust, so I will keep it in mind and hopefully we can pick our spot when we get there.

We went to Undara last year - actually enjoyed Cobbold Gorge more, but that is further again.

    Cheers

  6. Thanks. Think I might check out element 6 then. Need to wait to see how serious Glen gets with his photography before jumping into CS3 which is out now at quite a nice price. Luckily I was sitting down when I checked out the price:)

  7. Hi

We also found the chemicals very overpowering in the scent department.

We came across some tablets "odour b gone" (came across it in the Caravan World magazine) which we have been using for approx 1 year now. There is no smell and they are environmentally friendly and you can use it for all sorts of things - not just the toilet. They advise that you use half a tablet for up to 4 days or a whole tablet for 7 days - I find it best to empty the toilet after 5 days for no smells.

I have attached the website link for your info on what you can use it for and where you can purchase it. I first purchased it by contacting Coastline Trading at Raby Bay Qld and having it mailed. Otherwise you can purchase from the Caravan and Camping Show, but can't remember which stand it was.

I know of someone who uses the biomagic and they find it works well by adding natural yoghurt.
