  1. We have had 2 vans with cafe dinettes and have found them great however in our last van we put the cafe dinette in the front of the van and love it as it seems to open up the whole area. Congratulations on your change I am sure will find it great.

All the best From Lionel and Margaret

  2. Hi Colin and Gayleen

We are currently at Cape Keraudren and did the GRR in early May so it is hard to know what it is like now. The jump ups are all bitumen now and the road from Kununurra to El Questro is also bitumen. When we almost finished the GRR we got rain at Windjana Gorge and were asked to leave so we went to Derby. I believe that the next day on the 17 May they closed the road. I also believe that it was re graded after that period of rain but how it is now will depend on how much rain they will receive. It seems to be in the port Headland area apart from being in Broome early June so the best would be to find out once you reach Derby. We would love to catch up if you are near Cape Keraudren only 14 km from Pardo roadhouse as is a nice spot especially the price of $9 a night if you are a Senior

    Cheers Marg and Lionel

  3. We have been in Derby now for 12 days Lionel tipped scalding water on his foot and it is taking a long time to heal.he goes to the hospital daily for new dressings and fortunately it has not got infected. We were hoping to move on the the west coast before all the tourists arrived but fortunately in Derby we have our van in friends yard so no caravan park fees. Will keep you informed and maybe we will catch up with other KOG members some other part of W A if however you are in Derby please give us a call so we are able to meet up

    Cheers Margaret and Lionel

  4. G'day all,

Sue and I have chucked in our jobs at Cossack and are now at Birdsville for the coming tourist season. We are sorry to report that the Kedron let us down badly on the journey from Chris and Val's place i n the Barossa, to here - a screw fell out of the handle of the grill.

Anyway, if you're coming through Birdsville this year, we are based at the caravan park and working at the Pub. Feel free to look us up,, we would enjoy meeting you.

    Cheers

    Hi Russ and Sue

Lionel and Margaret are heading towards Birdsville around the 5th April it will be wonderful to catch up with you and pick your brain about WA. We have never been to or through Birdsville so decided to head that way before heading north. We hope to spend most of our time in WA once we get there with no time restrictions

    Cheers Lionel and Margaret

  5. Hi Everybody,

I would like to know how much a 22" kedron XC3 tare weight will be roughly please, with queen bed and double bunks with toilet/shower combo and will our Mazda BT50 that is capable of towing 3350kg be able to do the job nicely or struggle with it ?

    Cheers Mark

    Hi Mark

We have a 21.6ft XC3 built last May and came in at 2680kg

Included in that weight is the washing machine, 1800watt inverter, satellite dish on roof and grey water tank

We tow this with a 200 series land cruiser

  6. Hi Rob

I had a problem with the battery in the breakaway system on previos van and contacted the manufacturer.I suggested connecting to house batteries and was told if the breakaway swithh is pulled out and left the battries will supply power long enough to cause magnets to catch fire. The small bat in the controler will go flat before this happens.

    Cheers Lionel

  7. Hi Red Rubi

I had a similar problem on our previos van. The problem was a broken main spring. The end was broken off but retained by the rolled over end of the second spring. Apart from the axle mooving about half inch it was not noticable. I believe i traveled some 2000k before noticing a problem and I was looking for a missing center bolt when the break was found.

    Cheers Lionel

  8. HI all

I had a problem with brake controler and rang the manufactures in Adelaide. I was going to connect directly to the house batteries and was told that if the switch is pulled out the batteries will supply power for long enough to cause fire in the magnets (approx 1-11/2 hours)

  9. Hi Reg and Fran

I drive 100 series t/deisel auto & find if I leave it in D and drive at 95-100k it tends to stav locked in 5th gear and uses (slightly) less fuel than travelling at 85-90k were it will keep shifting back to 4th.

Our van is 19.6int ATV and is right at top weight 3.5t

    cheers Lionel

  12. I have finally got around to measuring useable water in our general use tanks 2 x 80 lt. With the van level I used the pump till more air than water was coming out. The water meter was read and tanks filled individually reading meter after each tank. Result 61 lt / 68 lt total 129 out of 160. I will be refitting tanks to try and achieve a better result & will post the result.

  14. Lionel and Marg have had a few enquiries as to the best way to approach the Bunya's. We will be leaving Oxley on Thursday afternoon after work and going via Fernvale, Esk, Harlin , Moore, Blackbutt, Yaraman, Cooyar and Maidenwell and up the Bunya Mountain Road. Depending on the time factor we may stay at the free camp in Moore and finish the journey early Friday morning. An alternative route is to go via Toowoomba and take the New England Hwy via Crows Nest , Cooyar, Maidenwell etc. We will be staying in the Dundabah Camping ground and hopefully will be able to rope off an area for the 11 Kedron vans. Dinner at Cedar Gum restaurant is booked for Sunday evening. We look forward to catching up with everyone.

    Cheers Marg and Lionel :Australia:

  15. Hi to all who are attending the Bunya Mountains for Australia day weekend.

There is a nice restaurant next door to the camping ground called "Cider Gum" formally known as Rosellas. We were thinking of booking dinner for Sunday night if there were enough takers. You can go to the Bunya Mountain site and check out the Restaurant. It is a la cate and mains range from $22 per head. Alternatively we could go for breakfast on the Sunday morning and prices range from $7 to $12 per head. Could you please let us know if you would like Sunday night dinner so I am able to reserve seats.

Look forward to seeing everyone. Our phone contact for information is Marg 0410 624 873 or Lionel on 0412 629 671

    Cheers Lionel and Marg :Australia:

  16. Hi all

Lionel and I are organising a trip for the Australia Day weekend on the 25, 26, & 27 January at Bunya Mountains National Park. Numbers are unlimited, and at this stage the National Park has quite a few available sites.

For full details and registration check the KOG trips page. Once you have registered with KOG you will be automatically redirected to the National Parks website where you will need to register with them also.

    See you all there !
