  1. G'day Yabbie. Good to hear about your set up. The advantage of the XC -3 Compact is its weight, or lack thereof. Your old Pajero is bigger than my Navara, being a 3.2 litre, as opposed to the Navara's 2.5 litre motor. That's what I really want to talk to owners about. I guess my tug is in the same ball park, but I just want to be sure. I've got a couple of years up my sleeve if it works out to not be enough...but I do like my Nissan, even if it is on the basic side of technology. Again, thanks for the reply.
  2. Hi, Hermit. We don't own a Keddie as yet (give me time to get the cash together and the time to travel...), but have a camper trailer, with solar panels and an Ark Pack battery system. What I can say is simply this - avoid the ebay sellers and go to a reputable dealer with a bricks and mortar shop. We went through Springers Solar in Brissy and have a quality solar panel product (120 watt) with two fold-up panels, quality regulator, quality cable, quality plugs and a guarantee. If anything goes bung (which it hasn't), then we would simply take it back. It's worth the extra for peace of mind. With regard to your HF station - I keep the power to 30 watts max, throw a doublet up in the trees as high as I can and it always works a treat. Often of late, I've gone QRP and used my 10 watt KX-3 with a 7 Ah SLAB and have amazed others with the signal. I recharge the SLAB off the battery/solar system through a mini charger. 73 de Vulcan (VK4BZ)
  3. Hi, Linda & Stephen. I'm still serving, but in the process of planning a Kedron getaway. Good to see other ADF people doing the same. Sure beats a hootchie at Shoalwater!
  4. Tony, thanks for the warm welcome. I'm keen to know what advice people who've been lapping the country for some time can give me. Obviously, we are still in the planning and preparation phase, so any words of wisdom are most welcome. Cheers!
  5. Hi, folks. My wife and I are looking at upgrading from the camper trailer to a Kedron in the next two years. We have done so much looking around (visiting businesses and multiple journeys to caravan shows), reading and researching, and have come to the conclusion that it has to be a Kedron. I guess, it's helped by the fact that where I live in Brisvegas (when I actually get home once in a while!) is the next burb over from Brendale, so within easy access of the factory. I want a strong van which will handle the corrugations of the Cape, Birdsville Track and the Gibb, and the Kedron vans are obviously amongst the best on the market in this regard. Luv the DVDs as well! Okay, here's my question. We are looking at getting a Kedron XC-3 Compact with the single axle. I currently have a 2013 Nissan Navara ST-R 2.5 litre common rail diesel with manual transmission. Max tow weight is 2800kg which fits in nicely with the Compact's 2500-3000kg GVM. I've done the calculations on ball weight etc and on paper it seems that the Navara is okay to tow the Compact. That's the theory, anyway...but I'm wanting to be practical about this and get some advice from owners. So, can any of you forum folks let me know what you think about this cunning plan of mind, and perhaps, there is someone around who is doing what I am planning, and owns the Compact and a Navara. In advance - thanks for the help!
