  1. Best price I have seen lately for the Xantrex 1800 is from Vince @ Fridge & Solar - $1800

    http://www.fridge-and-solar.net/invert.htm

No one has listed anything I've missed except the sat dish... so I'll add:

    - Fishing rod locker...

    - TV mounted higher - not where Kedron normally mount it (we've moved ours).

    - More shower tanks

    - Make sure the full A frame insert is filled as a tray (we have it but Kedron don't do this any more)

    - Inverter A/C instead of roof

    - Extra support/locking of the fridge door for rough roads

    - Larger bathroom - if you can work it in

    - A better sink setup than the fold up - the drain is useless

    - Make sure the plumbing doesn't have any water hammer

What I love and what I'd do again:

    - Can't get enough outside lockers - BBQ, chairs, tables, etc

    - Front load washer

    - Diesel Heater

    - 1800W sine wave inverter

    - Plenty of outside lights both sides & front & back (individually switched)

    - Can't get enough solar panels (we have 760W)

    - Queen bed

    - Redundant plumbing

    - External Gas bayonet

    - Cupboards specifically for electrionics - set top boxes etc

Hope that helps (I'll think of something else once thi is posted).

  2. Hope everyone had a great Christmas, Helen and I are in Wangaratta at the moment getting into Melbourne tomorrow and than the boat to Tasmania on New Years Day. We are heading west when we get on the apple isle and than down the west coast . Hope to catch up in the new year, have a safe one.

    Laurie and Helen

    Lucky buggers!

    Have a great trip guys.

    Travel safely!

  3. Hi Tony,

The bullbar is from East Coast Bullbars (ECB). No noticable drop in the front, although I didn't install a winch, and I haven't touched the front suspension. I love the bar - it's alloy and is pretty beefy and looks tougher than the polished bars. I'd buy another.

If you're keen on the ARB bar, have a yarn with Kimbo. He's in your area and has an ARB bar and has done some work on his suspension.

  4. A big thank you to Mark & Bern for organising another great weekend (and leaving the rain at home this time!).

As always, your hospitality was not wanting and we were made feel welcome.

And thanks to everyone else for putting up with us!

    David & Jane

P.S. I know I promised to send some info to a few people but I need to start writing it down. If you don't get the info promised tonight, please PM me and I'll get it to you. (Imagine what I'll be like at 80!)

P.P.S. And thanks to Shirlie for the little departing gift - yum! ;-)

  5. Bruce,

    DVB is just digital TV.

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Digital_Video_Broadcasting

If you have a receiver it'll be crystal clear or not at all.

If you don't have a receiver built into your TV, a STB can be purchased for around $60.

I've found it interesting that we've had only ABC and SBS in a couple of locations on the digital but the commercial channels have been available on analog (Mt Isa is one place I recall) considering the analog system is supposed to be phased out.

Sat is the way to go.

Elle & Shane, glad you're settled in and have something to do now

    Cheers

  6. We're at King Ash Bay at the moment - not much here except fishing - internet and phone has been dodgy for the past week.

Lynda & Len strolled over this yesterday afternoon. A couple of other Kedrons here but we haven't caught up yet.

Chris, sorry, Darwin has been and gone!

Jane is winning in the fish stakes with a 78cm Barra - biggest I've seen at the moment as they're pretty scarce - she caught it at Limmen Bight.

Off for a fish today - I'll try to sneak out without here so I can try to catch up...

And, Webby, our trip report is coming - honest! It's just that the internet reception isn't real good...

  7. Hi Chris,

No, I haven't been told anything about an annual service. Ours is 18 months old and still going.

No doubt the BT have got on the wrong side of Webasto - doesn't surprise me!

    Regards

    David

P.S. Sitting on the bank of the Towns River on the infamous 'ledge' - watching the crocs and only 2 other campers - we have the ledge to ourselves - pure heaven! Thanks, Roger, Kimbo & Shane...

    Finally got the boat wet...

Camped at the Billabong at the ruins last night and had the whole place to ourselves. Magic. A little eerie in the dark only 25m from the billabong though... ;-)

P.P.S No need for the diesel heater....

P.P.P.S. I hope it's not too cold a Stanthorpe! Wish we were there. NOT! brrrr

  8. Sheesh, I've seen -4C at Stanthorpe lately! I hope you guys are well prepared! Kedron must be busy fitting diesel heaters this week!

It's been 33C for the past week at least - it's getting a bit boring really!

  9. Chris,

We have the Eberspacher unit and have run it dry without any problems restarting it - nothing special - just refilled and it started.

I believe the Shadfords also ran theirs dry at Noosa NS, so you might want to check with them that they had no problems getting it going again also.

    Regards

    David

  10. Hi Wal & Sharon,

We are camped up in Camooweal Caves NP tonight and moving north towards Darwin tomorrow, then heading into Kakadu then across the Savannah Way into the fishing camps.

Sounds like we may cross paths, so if you want to meet up somewhere, drop us a line and we'll see what we can do.

Look for the shiny new tiiny that still hasn't been wet yet!

  11. Just thought I'd put a reminder out there for everyone to keep a check on your hotwater anode.

You should check it at least once a year, possibly once every 6 months, depending on water quality.

I kept putting mine off and just checked the other day and it was down to the wire for about 1/3 of the length. Van is less than 18 months old. The corroded bits had broken off in the tank and I had to give it a good flush out to clear the gunk out.

Kedron didn't have any anodes in stock when I was over there the other day, however Camec stock them @ $32.

If you're not desperate, order 6 from http://www.rvingoutpost.com/specs.php?prod...tle=Anode%20Rod for $11 each. The postage isn't calculated correctedly when ordering but Julie sends an email confirming total price on ordering.

I ordered 6 for future use, but I don't think they'll arrive before we head off but the total cost came to AUS$80 ($12 shipping) as the AUS dollar is pretty good for buying from the USA at the moment. (Works out at about $13 each).

Hope this is of use to someone else.
