  1. We have tried house sitters a few times and were disappointed with the damage done ,plants died and general mess left.

Maybe we expected too much . It was good for security purposes but!

Nowadays we have a niece who calls in twice a day to play with the dog feed the chooks and collect some eggs .We pay her for this she is happy we are happy .works for us

  2. Hi John

We had Kedron a 75 watt solar panel fitted in front of the aircon during the build. Shortly after we had them remove the Wynguard TV antenna and fit the 4th 140 watt panel. We always use the automatic roof mounted sat TV. That's how we found the roof space for all our panels.

    Cheers

    Pete

Hi Pete that's a great idea ,although we haven't used our Wyngard for ages I would hesitate to remove it at this stage .I will keep this in mind .

    Thanks John

  3. John & Jo,

We have a Topender which originally had 3 panels & on the side where there was only 1 panel I slide this one back to just clear the TV Antenna & put bent like a flat z 2 pieces alum silicone to roof in front of this & mounted extra panel here & wired it into one of original panels & works just great. We run the standard Fridge /freezer as well as a 60lt waeco as a freezer, sat.TV & Recording box & have been in bush camping for up to 6 weeks,& usually run the generator approx. every 10 days to top batterys right up.Our time was spent around Laverton & North. Hope this helps you.

    Regards Neville & Kay.

Thanks Neville we have no spare space on flat part of the roof with all the extra stuff including auto sat dish so it can only go up front . I spoke to Tom at the factory and he said I may have problems with stones flicking up but we have been on many gravel roads with no stone damage to front of van so we'll see . Did you install one extra panel ?

  4. Good timing this post.

We are also trying to deal with this issue at the moment .

Our topender has 3 110 amp batteries and 3 120 w panels and find that we have to very careful with our power consumption .

I mean turning on only one led light at a time ,maybe 3 hrs tv watching and using the diesel heater sparingly

If we live this way the battery level in the morning at around 8 is somewhere between 12.2-12.5 and Soc 75-83 persent this is ok but I am constantly worried and sending the mrs around the bend checking checking and rechecking !!!

So I have contacted the victron service agent in Perth and he suggested to install another 120 w panel on the roof. The only clear section we have is the front where it slopes up . He also suggested to increase the wiring diameter to prevent voltage drop .

Has any body out there installed a panel on this part of the roof?

I must also add that we travel mainly in the south coast of Western Australia were the sun is not that helpfull and we also have a 70 amp charger which works a treat.

Sorry Ian not trying to take over your post

  5. Hi Mark and Simone agree with Tony hope your wallet does not get bashed to much :o

We just this last week we went through the same situation and had to buy 3 new Century deep cycles at $410 EACH .

Last year an auto electrician replaced one battery and said that the others were ok well he was wrong and the new one was damaged already.

    Not happy .

So the tip is always buy three new ones

    Good luck

  6. Hello all

Just like to voice my public thanks to Tom at the factory.

We or I should say I managed to demolish a hubcap center last month .

Rang the factory spoke to Tom and he sen't us four new ones no charge .

    Great service as always .

It's always a pleasure to own the best built caravan knowing that you can rely on good old fashioned service from a company who cares D

  7. Hi Doug

our topender has the air bags and we are very happy with it for all the reasons Rod has stated . We bought our van, second hand 3 years ago and have been on many really rough tracks with ease no problems . Well worth spending the extra . We would not hesitate this system on our next kedron :P:)

  8. Thanks Rick we had a trailamate jack with our previous Kedron and it was good but would prefer to leave unit on the draw bar or is this what you do?

Hi Sue thank you for this link they look like a good sturdy unit.

What is Kedron using these day could ring them I guess

  9. Bent our jockey wheel some time ago it still is ok but on an angle does not look good so I need a new one.

Mine came with the van. It is the one that folds up under for traveling .

Has anybody tried or replaced theirs with anything different? .

Show me your Jockey  wheel Please

  10. Hi Barramundi ,

    Good name nice fish :)

We have a 19.6 internal Topender layout 13 and love it.

The layout suits us as we are both on the short side, because, the bed is not that long.

The van ideal for a couple but does get a little crowded with four adults at the table. but hey we spend most of our time outside anyway.

Another plus with this layout is that the fridge vents are under the awning which in turn keeps the direct sun off.

And Jo love's the large wardrobe.

Happy planning you won't be sorry with a Kedron

  11. Thanks Ann a good read .

Has anybody tried Rod from tassie's idea of leaving the front 4season hatch on the storm setting and thus creating a vacuum ?

Our hatch is at the front of the van.

Thanks for all your imput so far this is a great forum with a bunch of like minded people.

    John

  12. Yes I recon that's probably why Zolle .

Our hatch is at the front and have found that a small amount does come through .

Not too bad really we were driving on a very very dusty roads in mid west of WA .

This area has not had any rain of any significance the last two years .

Still good to drive through .

My brother has a liitle A van and boy he copped a lot of dust :P

All good after a clean out :)

  13. Hi John & Jo,

Currently on the road with the van, but travelling mainly on the black top @ the moment. As such it is somewhat difficult to say that YES it does work. But I have been happy with the lack off dust I've had on the couple of hundred k's of dirt since installation of this deflector.

I have never been able to master the black art of posting pictures on this site........ If u pm me with ur phone number or reply to zero four one two 415466 I will send you a couple of photos :)

Thanks Tony have sent you a message

  14. Urgent Info Required

We have the van in at Kedron, and one of the jobs is to have a dust deflector fitted in front of the 4 season hatch on the roof. The 4 season hatch on out ATV2 is on the front and sloping end of the van. Does anyone out there have one fitted and does it work? And what sort of design is it?

    Cheers

This was asked over 12months a go but has anyone a photo of one fitted?

Would love to see how it is made

    Please

    John

  15. Thanks again guys. Looks like I better get the sticky tape out..lol

    Chris

in a post some years ago someone referred to dust coming in through the 4 seasons hatch and they suggested to cut some heavy duty foam the same size as the ceiling opening .Thats what I have done and it will be tested next week around Sandstone WA.I also use the silver reflective tape produced by air cell to tape up our door vent looks good and works.

  16. Hi Ian,

We have our dish installed North -South at the rear of van.

If you reposition yours East -West I would think you would need a large wind deflector to stop the updraught?

However this would need to be well away from the dish so it can lift and spin around without touching.

Left ours up one time for 20klm the wind forced it down backwards and to one side was not happy ,but, no damage done.

You more than likely have thought about this.

    Maybe someone has done this?

    John

  17. Thanks Webby thats what I wanted to hear.

Someone who has used the SOG for some time and are happy with it's performance.

Question was it difficult to install I'm thinking of how to wire this up B) .

Sue that also went through my mind but I believe that there is a plug you have to use when empying the canister.

Wish my Jo would do the deed but she recons thats my job.

It's not to bad really someone has to do it.
