  2. Hi everyone,

I would like to apologise to all our regulars & casual visitors to this site, unfortunately due to circumstances well beyond our control this site has been 'down' for the past couple days.

From what I understand the problem is with the 'host' of this site & they are in the USA. Communication because of time difference makes any simple matter/correspondence drawn out, hence the delay in getting back 'online'.

I will follow this matter up, time to get a 'local' host I think as this is the second outage in twelve months!

    Stay safe out there.

  3. Hi John,

No I don't have a 'levelling system'....so cant speak first hand.

But in my travels I have seen a couple of setups that get my mind thinking about the possibility.

Not that I, and I assume you also, travel like 'The Gall Boys' but having those hydraulic rams under the van greatly reduces your approach & departure angles & also I would think there prone to damage off road.

    Cheers

    This is so cool...try it

    ALZHEIMERS' EYE TEST

(I love this part.. it's absolutely amazing!!!)
Count every " F " in the following text:

    FINISHED FILES ARE THE RESULT
    OF YEARS OF SCIENTIFIC
    STUDY COMBINED WITH
    THE EXPERIENCE OF YEARS...
    (SEE BELOW)

    HOW MANY?

    THERE ARE 6

    NO JOKE.
    READ IT AGAIN !
Really, go Back and Try to find the 6 F's before you scroll down.

The reasoning behind is further down.

    The brain cannot process "OF".

At least I am normal. Had me worried for an hour
Incredible or what ? Go back and look again !!!

Anyone who counts all 6 "F's" on the first go is a genius.

Three is normal, four is quite rare.

  5. Hi,

And welcome to the Kedron Owners Group (KOG).

Im sure you will find us a friendly group who are keen to promote the Kedron product and caravanning generally!

Re your question about your blind, there is a recent post about blinds which may be of assistance.....but seeing as your van is new I would suggest letting the guys at Brendale have a look at it for you!

Once again welcome to the group & we look forward to meeting you at a gathering or on the road somewhere in this great country!

  6. My Xantrex (TC4012) 40amp battery charger died, throwing funny unrecognizable fault codes.

Gave it the once over spoke to Xantrex rep's also Springers both were unable to assist.

Did some research on a replacement unit, decided on an Enerdrive EN31260  60amp charger, and Springers were the best on price! $660 delivered ordered on Saturday, delivered Tuesday (lunchtime) great service.

The Xantex unit was approx eight years old and from day one had been very noisy in operation ....fan noise. The charger is mounted in the front boot not far from my bedhead, the noise & vibration certainly took a bit of getting used to when trying to sleep!

This new unit is 50% greater in output (than the Xantrex) so it recharges a lot quicker and with less effort, sure it has only been installed for one day so far but the cooling fan has only come on momentarily & it was sooooo quiet.

No extra parts or fittings were need to swap the units over (other than a few cable ties) the Enerdrive unit was easy to 'set up'.

Fingers crossed I get many years of peaceful/powerful service from it!

Disclaimer I have no association with Springers other than being a happy customer.:D

Is there a separate plate between the receiver and the tow tongue to stop the receiver from moving sideways or is it only the two bolts that prevent this movement?

    Hi Merv,

As you can see from the photos, yes I have a bolt and a heavy washer on each side of the McHitch receiver to stop the receiver 'twisting' sideways.

I have also welded a length of square bar (10mm) onto the tongue at the 'rear' of the receiver also to stop the 'twisting'

On 6/19/2017 at 7:21 AM, Neville and Kay said:

With the Air Safe Hitch how does the Cantilever affect of the hitch go on the original Tow Bar as the weight is quite some way back from where the original tow ball would of been, and I wondered if  this would have more of a twisting affect which puts more pressure on fixing points of Tow Bar.

    Hi Nev,

I had never really thought about the 'load' being further back,(than a standard towball) but I guess it is just a little further back....whats an inch or two between friends.

I just adjust the air pressure in the hitch (so the arms are level...pump up hitch bag to about 80psi before putting van on, then connect van then drop pressure in hitch bag until 'arms' are level) &......adjust the pressure in the air bags (Air Bag Man) on the rear of the truck

I am truly not aware of any extra or undue twisting from this setup, I really can only give very positive feedback as the difference between using the standard Haymen Reece set up compared to the Air Hitch is chalk and cheese!

    Cheers,

  8. Hi Col,

I would like to echo Steve's comments, the dealings I have had with John Bakker (Victorian American Autos), I found him to be a straight shooter and honest!

Not saying your guys in 'the land of the little necks' are not up to speed, but a phone call could possibly expedite repairs. 03 5176 0600   Johns mobile 0418 149 356

    Cheers and hugs for Gayleen!

  9. Hi Bas,

Thanks for the link, that makes for an interesting read.

I, most of the time add either 2 stroke or ATF to my fuel tank when refilling (as previously mentioned).....to date I have not had any 'dramas' (touch wood), if this report/link is correct (not doubting it isn't) maybe over the upteen years I have been doing so...... I may have been wasting my money......maybe it is a placebo effect!

Stay safe & thanks for the info:D

  10. Hi Leon,

I would like to echo Merv's comments......your a lucky chap!

If you get an accessory fuel filter consider a 30 micron filter fitted BEFORE the factory filter.....something like this

http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Diesel-fuel-filter-water-separator-universal-pre-filter-Common-Rail-Diesel-Kit-/401318441627?hash=item5d7071729b:g:EsgAAOSwT-FZBtx6 they are relatively easy to fit & plumb up. Fitting one of these will extend the service life of the factory filter (which are expensive) change the accessory filter say every 2nd oil change for about $30....cheap insurance.

If your still at Gosford, jump on the M1 and give the truck 'a flogging' (so to speak) to give it a good clean out!

Re silicon sprays, don't believe they will cause any problems (hardening)....but using silicon/silastic type adhesives/sealants during component assembly can cause problems with O2 sensors....the fumes given off during the curing process cause the problems!

Re fuel.....95% of all fuel is now imported (Singapore) regardless of 'brand' it all comes from the one depot and depending on brand additives they are added/blended whilst the delivery truck is being filled.....fuel from the depot you can bet your right testicle will be clean.....contaminants are picked up from servo underground tanks regardless of brand.

Always look for fuel at outlets that would have a high stock/fuel turnover!....you would have to be very unlucky to pick a load of bad fuel.

Adding extra 'additives' to your fuel.....make up your own mind.....myself,..... diesel fuel in Oz is Ultra Low Sulphur content, making it a very dry fuel. To every tank full (250L) of fuel I use, put in 1/2 liter of two stroke oil or auto trans oil (cheapest available) just to increase the fuel lubricity......works for me.

    Travel safe,

  11. Hi Graham & Jeanette,

Would I be correct in assuming that this storage period would be for an 'extended time'. From when to when, do you require power, or happy to be out in the open?

Answer these questions, for hopefully a beneficial response from one of our members.

    Cheers

  12. Hi,

I was just listening to the arvo programme on the ABC (Brisbane)

Programme host started talking about a girl who was with her grandmother when she (grandmother) had a fall and injured herself.

The granddaughter called 000 and the operator talked her through the process of downloading 'Emergency +' on her smartphone.

This app gave the ambo's the GPS coordinates of her exact location, so they could attend and perform the marvellous work/service that they do!

My suggestion, go to the App store do a search for Emergency +  and download (its free) from this app you can access 000 (ambo's fire & police) the SES & the police assistance line (non urgent) where ever you have phone coverage.

When you download this app and you go to the homepage your GPS coordinates are there so you can relay them to the operator for quicker (hopefully) response!

This will/would be very beneficial when your travelling in an area that your not familiar with

This app is available for both IOS & Android.

    Stay safe!

  13. I visited the 'factory' today, to get a new stone bra fitted and also to get my number plate moved.

I was having second thoughts about the mounting of the number plate between the spare wheels, mainly because it would/could impede (slightly) the removal and refitting of the spare wheels......so I pulled out a tape measure and measured the distance between the lower edge of the O/S tail light and the ground on my van the distance was approx 1.45m bearing in mind the transport rules (my interpretation) state the plate shouldn't be higher than 1.3m.

So I asked the service guys to mount a number plate light under the tail assembly (picking up the wiring for the number plate light from the tail light assembly) & then of course the plate below that. Pulled the tape out & measured again 1.3m came in at 1cm UP from the lower edge of the plate,

My interpretation/understanding of the transport rules state the plate shouldn't be higher than 1.3m BUT it doesn't state 1.3 at the top or bottom of the plate. So I fell it should be OK ( I'll plead 'senior' ignorance if I get pulled up) and I'm going to leave the plate where it is now....I reckon it looks a lot neater there (my opinion).

Four rivets were fitted to the original mounting holes and a dab of suitable white paint applied, then a red rectangular reflector with suitable silicon and screws was fitted over the original wiring hole....all up a very neat 'mod'!!

In closing the service and attention given by Robyn and the boys in service was great. ?

Also the communications with Robyn (email & phone) before the visit to the factory were friendly and professional.

    CU down the road ........
