    There is lots of Kedron & general 'caravan' information on this website, if there is something you cant find or not sure of.....just ask!

    Welcome to the Kedron Owners Group, there is lots of Kedron related information on this website. With regular 'visits & contributions' to the site you are keeping it fresh, vibrant & interesting for all.

    If there is a topic or answer you cant find......just ask!

    Seamus starts his new job at the Dublin zoo and is given three tasks.
    First is to clear the exotic fish pool of weeds.
    As he does this a huge fish jumps out and bites him. To show who is boss, he beats it to death with a spade.
    Realizing his employer won't be best pleased he disposes of the fish by feeding it to the lions, as lions will eat anything.
    Moving on to the second job of clearing out the Chimp house, he is
    attacked by the chimps that pelt him with coconuts.
    He swipes at two chimps with a spade killing them both. What can he do?
    Feed them to the lions, he says to himself, because lions eat anything... He hurls the corpses into the lion enclosure.
    He moves on to the last job which is to collect honey from the South American Bees.
    As soon as he starts he is attacked by the bees. He grabs the spade and smashes the bees to a pulp. By now he knows what to do and shovels them into the lions cage because lions eat anything.
    Later that day a new lion arrives at the zoo.. He wanders up to
    another
    lion and says "What's the food like here?"
    The lions say: "Absolutely brilliant, today we had ....
    Fish and Chimps with Mushy Bees!!.. 😜🤣

    Yes mate a trip to the ‘Green Shed’ and my fuel tank woes were solved…….if only my truck transmission problems could be solved as easily. 
    Currently organising a ‘recovery’ from Alice to home……still having problems with transmission that I feel can only be fixed by the guy that rebuilt it……some what peed off, to say the least!

    Alice Springs is a lovely town and area, we have enjoyed our 9 weeks here, somewhat longer than we originally planned to stay……ready to move on…….unfortunately back to the east coast with all the Covid about.

    Spot on Chris, your trip reports are always very informative and an interesting read.

    Having this website and using the ‘search’ function is makes Kedron ownership a lot more friendly and relative.

    The current trend of using social media with its very limited search facilities ( there one minute, then gone) is not user friendly.

    Today, I had a senior moment……

    Went to the servo to fill the truck and the diesel heater tank, took the cap off the heater tank and filled it up, then filled the truck.

    All good arrived at my next destination to find diesel all over the front of the van…….the silly old fart that filled the tank neglected to refit the fuel cap…..(I left it sitting on the A frame whilst filling and of COURSE it fell off and was lost going to my next stop.)

    I made enquiries about a new cap, but was unable to source one, short of buying a complete new tank for $180 plus freight.

    Cursing myself, and stewing over my stupidity, I recalled a post on this site about a fellow member having trouble locating a replacement fuel cap.

    I then did a simple search on this site using the ‘key words’ diesel fuel tank cap. Within a nano second my search was completed and my answer was before my eyes.

     

    I put this post up because some people have commented in the past that the website is difficult to use…..it isn’t…..just type in the ‘key words’ into the search box (top right hand corner of the home or any other page) and there is a good chance your questions will be answered.

     

    Have fun and don’t be a silly old fart, like me!

  9. Replace 3way fridge

    G’day,

    I could Google your existing fridge for measurements, but I haven’t.

    Have you spoken to either Ashley or Robyn at Brendale?

    Again not knowing your current sizings there will be a fair chance that any new fridge will have to be specially fitted requiring cabinet work.The ‘factory’ will have matching materials to match with your van spec’s.

    We have recently had a Thetford 273 litre unit fitted to our van, we are VERY happy with our decision.

    Let us know which way you decide to go.

  15. Three weeks into a 12 month ‘lap’

    Hi,
    Where have Tony & Annie Heat been?

    Go and make a cuppa......it’s a long story!

    Three weeks ago we were towed into Alice Springs.
    We were traveling on The Plenty Hwy between Tobermory & Jervois Station when the truck started play up (as in transmission problems).
    We were able to reach Jervois Station, and with the generous assistance of the property manager able to make contact with the NRMA/AANT. A tow was quickly and painlessly organised thanks to our Premium Roadside Assist Membership. Due to geographical distance the towie turned up the next morning at 8ish the truck was unceremoniously loaded onto the tilt tray truck and the van hitched up to the back of the tow truck. 
    We arrived in Alice on the Saturday of the Finke Race,it was bedlam there were cars, trucks, trailers & lots of people everywhere.
    All the caravan parks were full and if you could get a spot in a CP the cheeky buggers were asking and getting $90pn, anyway it was suggeasted we try the Alice show ground (Blatherskite Park). On arrival we were greeted by an attentive attendant who was obliging and compassionate in our dilemma. She guided us to a ‘camping’ spot the van unhitched and the truck off loaded.
    Contact was made with Performax’s suggested repairer here in Alice, it was agreed that I take our ‘sick’ truck to his workshop the following Tuesday as Monday was a public holiday. 
    I also found out that another repairer (Heath Lawson from Maroochydore) I knew was in Alice competing in the Finke Race, I was able to speak with Heath on the Sunday.
    On the Tuesday, I was able to ‘limp’ the truck to the suggested repairer ‘Ben’, he hooked up his laptop carried out many tests on the vehicles electronics and came up with a failed TCM (transmission control module) and testing results also indicated that the transmission was in a ‘locked state’. Heath turned up at the workshop, with prior agreement from Ben which I appreciated, he also connected his diagnostics equipment and came up with the same diagnosis as Ben.
    Heath indicated at that time he would be prepared to rebuild my transmission here in Alice before he went back to Maroochydore, I was excited at this prospect as I have full confidence in Heath’s work as he works pretty well exclusively on GM and Allison transmissions.
    He said he had a new TCM in his workshop at Maroochydore, this was despatched to Alice. Heath in the mean time would continue his travels to Darwin and await fitment of the new TCM, potentially returning to Alice when the new TCM was fitted.
    The new TCM arrived (after 10 days👎).......this was fitted and required programming to my vehicles unique VIN. (vehicle identification number).
    Rarely in my life do things go to plan, after a period it was established that the tuning module supplied with the new TCM was not compatible with my vehicle model. So the TCM and tuning module were removed.
    Since the fiasco with the TCM install both Darwin & Alice have gone into COVID lockdown and Heath is unable to return to Alice. (Shit happens)
    The truck is still in the workshop, with no TCM and a buggered transmission STILL fitted to the truck.
    The transmission was supposed to be removed last Tuesday, but because of Covid that didn’t eventuate. Heath’s return to Alice is definitely not going to happen......his office girl is desperate for his return to Maroochydore. That will be interesting with border closures and quarantining. And Ben is not answering his phone, again because of frigging Covid!
    Thinking now.....the transmission will have to go Adelaide to be rebuilt, can really see us still being here in Alice Springs for at least another three weeks.
    I have hired a little Mitsubishi Mirage to get around in, it has more rattles than a millionaires baby & 200k on the clock.....but it starts & runs. We have been able to do some touristy things around Alice, it really is a lovely area. 
    I’m sure we will do more exploring before the truck is finally finished.
    Here were we are at the Showground, part of the Macdonnell Ranges is only a k away, with beaut views of the Pyndan (red soil & rocks) covered in spinifex constantly changing vistas as the sun moves throughout the day, it is special!
    It is about 12 years since I was in Alice last, the town is cleaner/tidier than I remember & ‘the locals’ have also appear to have a better appearance and outlook.
    We have not seen/witnessed any drinking seasons ‘in the Todd’ or other areas which is great for them and the community generally!

  20. Waeco RPD215 faulty.

    Our van is going to Brendale next Monday to have the Thetford 273 litre fridge fitted....fingers crossed all will be good.

    It is replacing the original 240 litre Vitrifrigo.

    Hoping you get a speedy & satisfactory resolution.

  25. Our experience with NRMA ‘Premium Plus’ roadside assist.

    Yesterday we were travelling on the Western Fwy into Brisbane. Minding our own business, enjoying the drive towards the ‘factory’ we heard a noise from under the bonnet and an unusual smell through the dash vents. Moments later I lost the power assist from the steering and brakes.........luckily there was a verge on the roadside that we could make a hasty ‘safe’ stop.

    Upon stopping, after opening the bonnet, I found that the A/C compressor had seized & thrown/destroyed the serpentine drive belt resulting in loss of steering & braking assist. 

    Being a member of NRMA I rang them for assistance, they then connected me with RACQ who would (hopefully) offer me reciprocal service as we obviously weren’t in NSW.

    RACQ were aware of my situation re vehicle (type/size) & caravan (total length & weight) after sending two different flat top tow trucks the later be larger than the first.....RACQ (bless them) said they couldn’t assist, yes they could tow the truck, but NOT the van and I wasn’t going to leave my van on the roadside. 

    I then contacted NRMA again, rembering I had ‘Premium Plus’ roadside assist......possibly should have mentioned that to the NRMA operator in the first instance......but then my rego number/membership number should have brought that up for the operator to see. 

    Loooooong story short with with NRMA Premium Plus cover.....in no time there was a ‘Super Tilt’ low loader (see photo) there to take/tow me to Lawnton Showground.

    After a quiet beverage or two and another phone call to NRMA, I found that out that having Premium Plus cover entitled me to a second tow for the truck (to the repairer in Gympie) and the hire of a 200 series (which is all but NEW) to tow my van home.

    This is a long winded post but, if you have a tow vehicle and van that EXCEEDS your states motoring organisation limits consider NRMA Premium Plus cover.

    Usual disclaimer.......NO affiliation with NRMA other than being a happy customer.
