Guest yoshy&kerry
The 6 wheel conversion is well under way. We visited the workshop this week and I must say it was quite awkward to see our new car in many many pieces. I have posted some photos on the photo gallery. The airbags shown have not been deployed but just unrolled and the rear section cut off. There are two canisters on each side. The airbag system is still under investigation with engineering departments.Being the first 200 chop there is a lot of teething problems that I am confident the boys at Creative Conversions will sort out. The car maintains the original two fuel tanks and I am hoping to fit a lpg tank between the rear axles but that will be done much later. At the moment there is no problem with running cables for dual battery systems, phones, gps cameras and any other toys I can think of.The alluminum tray will be 1.9m by 2.3m to fit a camper/tool box with the tinny on top, possibly the right way up.The end product will give me a vehicle with a 4495kg gvm, approx 4495kg towing and 500kg drawbar weight so I can remove the two pushies off the drawer bar and put on a small trail bike.It will still be about six to eight weeks before completion if there are no hiccupsbut I will endeavour to update progress when I can.Any ideas on what to do with the back of the cruiser?Yoshy.. Brian and Lis
Yoshy. you could ask Creative Conversions if the had a rear cut off a 100 series and join them ,making an enclosed trailer with front and rear opening tailgates. Decker's bodybuilders(here in Adelaide) did one with 2 80 series rear cuts, with the draw bar in 4" steel tube (in two sections)so it could slide back flush once the pins were removed.Other option to sell to panel beater specialist in 4wd repairs, will eventually have a need for it. Is the conversion full 6 wheel drive or lazy axle. It will be a head turner when finished, not what Toyota thought the 200 would look like. will watch photo section with interest.Brian
