  3. Hi Richard, Fantastic, it wil certainly make a great change in lifestyle. We, are still 'Doin Time', but our day will come. If you have time, please send PM and tell us what you did to the van, inside & out. What's your itinerary after you do the pick up. Safe travels Cheers
  4. Hi Pete, I have the new release Landcruiser LC70 V8 Turbo diesel cab/chas. It's 6 months old now, and we have towed a camper all over QLD & NT. Did the 10000Klm service at Mareeba in July, prior to going up into the Cape. Came out of there and wandered around FNQ & Outback QLD heading for home, and yesterday took the vehicle to Toyota at Southport had the oil checked only to find I had used 1.5 ltr's. The whole time I was towing about 1200kgs. Plus we have the added weight of a fibreglass canopy, aluminium tray, 70 ltr water tank, black widow draw system, engle fridge, two mountain bikes, Honda 2kva generator. This is a constant for the vehicle. They have implemented a vehicle monitoring program whilst they (Toyota) are investigating a viable solution to the oil problem. However, this vehicle is just fantastic in so many areas. I guess one of the main concerns is fuel consumption. We are getting 12 litres per 100 klms, towing. The car has not been modified except for all the suspension. I'm not sure what I'm going to experience when the ATV2 goes on the back. Watch this space. Hope this has helped in some small way Cheers
  5. Hi Folks, Thank you for the replies, it has helped. The unfortunate part about all this from a 'to be' caravan owners point of view July next year, is, I live up here. I will have to take a better look for the Mudgeeraba sign refering to caravans, I have seen the one refering to trucks and tonnage. I agree with you about Pine Creek Rd, Nunimbah Valley, as steep as it is (12% - 17%) going up may not be a problem based on the power of the vehicle, and the weight being towed, it's coming down one particular part which is long and steep. I have been told not to use my High / Low range due to transmission strain and being on the Black Top. I have used my new vehicle across the Gulf, and up to Cape York (Tip) but that was easy going towing 1200kg max. Towing Ulti you didn't even know it was behing the truck. This is different, I have not towed this size or weight up or down the mountain. As to how the vehicle will respond I am unsure. I had brake fade once, with my Landrover Discovery towing Ulti off the Barrington Tops, in that instant I engaged high range selected third, and let it roll off the mountain with no problems. Thanks again everone for your assistance, I might put a phone call into Dave Gall, he may know the area, as he certainly knows caravans, from seeing his DVD's. Cheers
  6. Hi Folks, I would appreciate some words of wisdom about towing a Kedron ATV2 up to Springbrook, QLD. Be it via the front road from Mudgeeraba, or the back road from Nunimbah Valley (Pine Creek Road). The road has signage indicating a degree of 17%, along with some tight turns, and one way sections, with narrow bridges, depending on which road you use. I have not towed a caravan before. I have towed my Ultimate Offroad Camper to and from Springbrook, which never presented a problem, however, now there is a considerable difference in size and weight. To be honest, I don't know the full capabilities of the new vehicle towing this size caravan. In this sort of situation and I ask myself should I be engaging my hubs and using High or Low range up or down on the Black Top. I then have a concern about the transmission using 4x4 drive on such a surface. We all have to start somewhere. I appreciate your learned opinion. Thanks
  7. Hi Phil, Perhaps remounting the pump on a block of rubber may help to reduce the noise. We had the same problem in the Ultimate Offroad Camper. Sounded like a Mack truck on his vacuum brakes. Bit embarassing actually as you would expect better for an expensive camper. Rather than go to expense of replacement pump that was working ok, we actually applied Rick & Lea's suggestion. Next to waiting for the right time to sell the camper. Cheers Gary & Kaye
  8. Hello Chris & Val, Yes we are the Ulti Nomads you met at Camooweal. Would have loved to spent more time with you guys, but with us heading in the opposite direction, and the afternoon getting on we both had to find a place to harbor up for the night. When we free camped that night I played the DVD, it was great. Actually we met another lovely couple (Neville & Gail) they were heading for Darwin to. When we met again in Darwin we had a BBQ under the awning of there ATV watching your DVD, was great afternoon. I hope your trip went well, and it was a safe one. This is my third reply to your e-mail. I have logged into the Forum, and sent the first reply, No show!!, Sent a second reply via the forum, no show. So now I'm trying a reply from your message that came into my personal e-mail. I hope I am able to get through? I have registered as an end user, but need to submit my documents and money to be a financial participant. We are so looking forward to our ATV, the time cannot go fast enough. We cut our trip short after coming out of the Cape, and were lucky enough to meet some lovely people that wanted to buy an Ultimate, So we sold it to them right there and then. How lucky was that. We met 10 Koggers over our 3 months across the Top. Great people with great van. You guys are partly responsible for all this. LOL. So now we are fine tuning the ATV2 with all the bits one needs. We hope you are well, and life is being kind to you. Thanks again for making time for us and of course the DVD. Would be nice if we could catch up some time. You have my e-mail, we could exchange personals, if you like. I don't know if this will reach its target, but here goes. All the very best Thanks & regards Gary & Kaye. >
  9. Well a Big Hello Chris & Val, How are you both. Yep, we were the 'Ulti' Nomads at Camooweal, laying wait to pounce on any Kedron owners insight. We so much enjoyed talking with you, it was bad luck we were going in opposite directions. Again thank you for the Canning Stock Route DVD. That night on a 'Free Camp' I played the Kedron DVD in my Laptop. It brought back some great memories. Actually on the way to Darwin we met another Kogger (Neville & Gail). When we caught up the second time in Darwin we sat back under the awning of there lovely ATV, having a BBQ, watching TV and playing your DVD. It was fantasic. So, as you can tell by all this, your partly responsible for my actions in buying an ATV2. After we left you and continued our journey we met in total 10 Koggers. So it wasn't hard by the 3rd month to pack up camp cut the trip short, sell Ulti on the road to some lovely people on holidays west of Townsville, and the rest is history. I hope your trip went well, and was a safe one. It would be great to catch up with you both some time in the not too distant future. Thanks again for everything, especially to put your email out there. Best regards
  10. Thanks Guys for the kind words. Yes, we are counting the days, and hopefully they pass quickly. We will take you up on throwing a few questions out there later on. Thanks & regards
  11. Hi Koggers, We just wanted to say 'Hi' to all, and a big thank you to all the Kedron Owners who were so kind to make time and share there words of encouragement, experiences and wisdom as Koggers. During our travels of Central QLD, through the Outback, into NT, across the Gulf and up to the Tip we met a lot a Koggers with some great vans. We were so impressed by what was relayed to us. It was easy to come to the conclusion we need a Lifestyle Change. The Ultimate Offroad Camper was sold after the 3 month trip and now we wait for our new ATV2. Did the nickel tour of the factory and sales yard x 2, spoke with just about all the staff, and placed our our with Stan. Delivery date July/Aug 2011. Hopefully earlier. Again, thank you for your time. We will look forward to meeting up with you on the road, and sharing a story or two. Travel Safe Gary & Kaye (the newbies) :shades:
