  1. Hi CCC, I spent $20 approx and purchased a lockable towball as well as a I made a chain covered with a bicycle tube over over it so as not to scratch any paintwork and the I lock one van wheel to the trailer arm. Also,I don't think it's a matter of where you live or where you travel too in this day and age, It's just better to be safe than sorry. There's alot of value in our prized possession and we just wouldn't like to loose it. Regards, Kingy. P.S I purchased the lockable tow ball from CAMEC from memory. Ihope this may have help you.
  2. Hi Pete & Tracey, I carry the standard bottle jack from the 100 series and a 2 ton bottle jack for the van as well as a high lift jack on the spare wheel carrier. I'm of the belief that spare in everything is a must in case any one of the items fails or an extre one is need just in case. Regards, Kingy
  3. Wayne & Cheryl, :helpsmilie: We had a similar problem with our Topender. Turned out that the Solar Charger was to small for the amount of current that the solar panels were trying to charge the battery's. It was shutting down when it reached 30 amps. Problem was solved by changing to a PL 40 solar meter. We've had no problems since. I hope this my led you in the right direction. Regards. Kingy
  4. Hi John & Jo, There are two products that can be used and these are Wicked Metal Polish and the other one is Purple. Thes can be purchased from most Auto shops and Truck accessary shops. I haven't used the Purple product but quite a few other members have and they say it's alright. Regards. Kingy :Australia:
  5. Hi Rod & Mavis, I installed lift kit in our 100 series and I used (don't laugh) KING SPRINGS. 40mm in the front and 50mm rear to allow for the extra weight carried in the car and also when the van is in tow. I also installed GABRIEL SHOCKS - BLUE RYDERS. The ride is good when the van isn't attached, and is great when the van is connected. It tracks and rides well and the van sits level. I hope this may help Regards, Alan & Rhonda King :Australia:
  6. Hi fellow KOGERS, :helpsmilie: We need some advice if you guys can help. As we haven't yet travelled down to the southern end of this great country, we would like some help as to which way is the best way to travel to Mita Mita. We will be leaving from the Sunshine Coast. Is the coast road(Highway 1) still hilly and very narrow in places,(I hitch hiked it when I was 17) or has it been upgraded? If not, would it be best to travel the NEW ENGLAND HIGHWAY? The other highway I looked at was the NEWELL HIGHWAY. Also if anyone can recommend any good free camps on the way down and back. We look forward to any suggestion that may help with our planning. Regards, Alan & Rhonda. :Australia:
  7. Darryl, Sorry mate, my reply should have reply should have been to David. Regards, Alan.
  8. Darryl, The Dam your thinking of is Borumba Dam and it is near Imbil. Boomooma Dam is out past Goomeri and Kilkivan. About three hours drive from Caloundra. Regards, Kingy.
  9. Rosco, My eldest son has just installed a VDO pyrometer and boost guages(Anolog type) into his 80 series. Unfortuneately he has gone to Fraser Is for a week with his family so I can't advise you how they perform. He has also installed them into a pod on the pillar near the Steering wheel. As soon as he comes home I'll let you know the results. Regards, Kingy.
  10. Dear Sue, I have checked that brand out, but I think that price $247 is only for the digital unit. Alarm monitor is extra as well as the K thermocouple at $104. Thank-you for your quick response my friend. Your help has and is always appreciated. Regards, Kingy
  11. Hi Rosco, This is the one I've been looking at in the US. "Dooley Auotmotive Group" in Oregon. Have a look and let me know what you think. I'm always open to second opinion. Regards, Kingy
  12. Madog,Christine and Misty(The Wonder Dog), Guys, here is a location you may like to try. Last year while recovering from minor surgery, Rhonda and I went back to one of our favourite locations. That being Boondooma Dam. It is located near Proston/Wondi and unfortunately it's not a freebee anymore(not expensive though). You can have a powered site or you can camp at the waters edge. Dogs allowed, camp fires with wood supplied but you have to cut it up(chainsaw helps). Fishing is good. We caught 27 Bass last October, all of legal size but only kept four just for a feed. Also last year dam was at 10-12% now at 50% so it should be looking good again. Winter time has cold nights and crisp mornings. There's a kiosk on site for minor essentials and Proston(small town pub) is only 21k's away. Toilets and showers(hot) were always clean. Anyway I hope this may help. Regards, Kingy.
  13. :helpsmilie: Hi everybody, I'm trying to obtain a digital pyrometer with temperature alarm for my 1HZ diesel with after market Denco turbo. I've tried several times to purchase one on ebay for about $175 to $235 but I just miss out each time. I was quoted $400 plus installation by one company in Brisbane which I thought was a bit excessive. So my question is, does anybody know of any company that distributes/sells Digital Alarm Pyrometers in Australia. I look forward to your reply. Regards, KINGY.

  15. To everyone at the Imbil gathering, on behalf of my wife and I we l would like to thank everyone for their friendship, hospitality and help when we needed it. Everyone made us feel so welcome. It was a pleasure to meet so many down to earth people that could laugh at the world as well as themselves. We look forward to meeting up again at Noosa. Regards, Alan & Rhonda P.S. Sue (Webby) As per our discussion I have organized those items for another raffle to be held at next or future gathering. :gathering:
  16. Geoff, There is another product called "PURPLE". It too can be purchased at a Truck Accessory Shop. I have been told it 's also a very good product for Polished Aluminum Products. At least you now have a choice of two to try. Hope this has helped. Regards . Kingy.
  17. Geoff, I purchased the metal polish(WICKED) yesterday, and I managed try try it out this afternoon when I arrived home from work. You can notice the difference straight away. It reminds me of the old days when I served in the Navy. The product is very similar to BRASSO so I'll just have to wait and see how it last in the weather. The price was $32.95 but I paid about $27.00 trade. Regards, Kingy.
  18. Geoff, While at a auto parts store today a lady enquired about a polish for keeping aluminum clean and bright and I rememberd your request. The product she asked for was WICKED polish and is sold at all major Truck part stores. Aparently all the Truckies use this product on their rigs. I personally have't used it yet but my mate has ordered a bottle in for me. When I try it, I'll let you know how it is and the cost of the product. Regards, Kingy
  19. Hi Ian & Jill, We had a problem were everything would just shut down then kick back in. This would happen all the time whether you occupied the van or not. The radio would always show it was on stand by even if it had been turned originally. The regulator would show 13.9 volts plus, then shut down. We would have to run the generator to power up the battery's, but the battery's were fine, we think it was a faulty regulator. I spoke to Ashley at Kedron and I installed a new regulator and there hasn't been any drop outs and the battery's are reading at 100%. everything seems to be oK. We will have to wait till our next adventure to test it . Regards, Kingy
  20. Hi All, All though we have yet to attend a KOG gathering, my wife and I was so looking forward to attending our first at IMBIL Island Reach gathering. As I have just arrived back home from Toowoomba today, and after seeing two specialist, I'm scheduled for surgery on the 6th of March and I don't think I could subject the group to the visual aftermarth of the ordeal. Hopefully things will be alright for Noosa North Shore. Till Then, Safe Travels. Regards, Kingy. :Australia:
  21. Hi Everyone, Our names are Alan & Rhonda. This is our first post, so please bear with me. Like many others we all started camping and caravaning somewhere. With us, we had a 16' Millard Princess but it stayed on site at Brunswick Heads and then Toorbul(Sunshine Coast) for many years due to work commitments as I couldn't get enough time to travel. When the billy lids we're off our hands, we then went to a camper trailer and loved every minute of it. We've have travelled about 40,000klms in Queensland and the top of South Australia. Now the next chapter is about to start with the Kedron and we can't wait. We've been planing for about two years. We intend to start travelling as soon as our business sells. We purchased a 2002, 100 Series Landcruiser (Poverty Pack)about three years ago and it has been patiently waiting while being prepared for the trip to the bush. (Springs, Shockers and Winch). A Denco Turbo has been added and it made a big difference to the pulling power and still maintains good economy. The Top Ender was built in 2006 and has already done a trip around Australia with the first owners. We purchased the van in March 07 and have done a couple of short trips to Boomdooma Dam and Maroom near Maryborough, just to make sure every thing works. We've been very happy with the product. The Boys(Ashley) at Kedron have been great with answering any questions that I have enquired about. My wife and I are looking forward to meeting the crew at Island Reach (Imbil) in March so till then. Kind regards, Alan & Rhonda.
