  4. Hi Everyone from Ashleigh and Jada! On behalf of mum, dad, Jada and myself I would like to say a big thank you for such a great weekend at the Camp Oven Festival! We all had such a great time, especially Jada as she really enjoyed all the love and attention from everyone. It was great catching up with everyone and meeting other Kedron Owners. A special thank you goes to Bern and Mark for hosting such a great gathering. We can not wait until the next one. I have made a photo album where I have posted some photos that we took of the event so please feel free to check them out! Until next time - Safe travels and happy caravaning! 7. hi graham and audrey thank you for your prompt reply and for your info on the 'track'. is the road fairly flat or are there a few hills etc? regards, alan
  8. Hi Everyone Lynda and and I are currently planning our next 'big' trip for winter next year and one possible route is to travel west from Boulia to Alice Springs via the Donohue/Plenty Hwys. :helpsmilie: Has any KOG member under taken this trip in recent years and if so, how did you find the conditions, fuel supply, number of days to complete the route etc  At this stage we would be travelling alone and would be pulling our 20'6 ATV (tare 2850kg) with, figures crossed, a near new 200 series diesel. Looking forward to reading some helpful info. kind regards, Alan n Lynda
  9. Hi 'guys' We went for a drive up to Charlie Moreland/kenilworth on Sunday and there is plenty of fire wood to be had along the kenilworth-Eumundi road, providing you have a chain saw. Main roads are currently widering the section of road near Belli Creek, just watch out for the b-doubles that are heading to and from the quarry during the week and for the single lane bridge adjacent to Buckby Rd, they don't stop for anybody/anything. Also, for those that haven't been to the area before, you may wish to check out the camping ground at Charlie Moreland located approx. 10k S/W of the showground. Also, either check out the lookout located approx. 5k W of ths camping ground and/or continue on the 37k scenic forest loop drive coming back via Booloumba Falls and camping/day use areas. This is providing the forest/Jimna road is open. Happy weekend Alan and Lynda
  10. Hi Ann/Jacky Jacky and thank you for your reply and info etc. Based on our research and your comments it would appear that we will stay with CIL. We have all our vehicles, house etc insured with AAMI, however after spending hours on the phone with them yesterday it was just to hard for them to come to terms with the fact that there are caravans out there that are valued over $50k. Once again thank you for your help. Cheers, Alan & Lynda
  11. Hi Everyone The insurance on our van is currently up for renewal and for the last 4 years we have been with CIL, no problems with them so far. However, we have been trying to obtain a '2nd' quote/insurance options from a alternative insurer without any luck. AAMI will only insure a van up to the value of $60k. Is anyone currently using a different insurer? At the end of the day CIL maybe the best, however it would nice to see if there was an option. Regards, Alan
  12. Hi Mark n Deb and thank you for the info/options re SLS. We have also had both the compressor and the control valve replaced by LR 1 and half times, the other half by us. I will try and contact you within the next week to discuss further the option of relpacing the air bags with springs, sounds good. We are also addicted to LR, and for that matter Kedron vans as well, as this is our second Disco (1999 runout model) and our second Kedron. My wife and I still feel that the MY2003 Disco was and still is the best looking Disco ever built. Maybe Team BMW had something to do with the end result! With regards to your trip to Winton, lucky devils, if you have not been there before make sure you check out Lark Quarry and the surrounding country. It is just BEAUTIFUL around there. When we drove out to the quarry we came back to Winton on some of the 'back' tracks i.e via Cork, Old Cork, Tulmur etc. The scenery, the 'jump-ups, the colours and drive through this part of QLD in the late afternoon is extremely picturesque. I'm not 100% sure, however i believe you can stay at 'Carisbrooke' station which is located approx. 70ks ss/w of Winton. Regards, Alan
  13. Hi Maca  Thanks for the info/web address etc. Will consider contacting the local 'aftermarket' landrover workshop located at Nambour. Our SLS is the airbag type and was part of the 7 seater pack. Cheers, Alan
  14. Hi Everyone We have a 21' ATV with a Tare of 2815 and a ball weight of 165, however on most trips (4 adults) our ATM would be around 3500. Our current tow vehicle is a 2003 Discovery V8 with self levelling suspension(SLS). In respect to the SLS we have had a few problems with it since upgrading from our previous 16' XC to the ATV. During the last 2 years either Landrover &/or ourselves have either replaced &/or repaired 'it'. We have been told by Landrover that it is not possible to upgrade/alter the SLS and therefore we are now considering changing the Disc for a 100 series Landcruiser prior to our next trip. In respect to the Sahara 'semi-active suspension' will there be a similar issue as we have had with the SLS, or is it possible to 'upgrade' the Sahara, or just buy a GXL and upgrade the standard suspension, or is there other options to consider re our current vehicle? Look forward to your advice re the above  .
  15. Hi everyone from Alan and Lynda We have just 'signed up' again and are appreciating the the new KOG website and the revamped KEDRON site. A great improvement over the previous site's, well done to the 'A-Team'. Gold star's all around. We have lived for the last 10 years in Noosa Heads and spent our first 6 years in QLD managing a holiday resort on Noosa Sound. We sold the management rights at the end of 2004 and the first thing we done was to buy our first caravan/Kedron. Couldn't wait the 6 months to have our 'dream' van built, so we purchased a 2nd hand one from Glenn/Barry. That one was a 15'6 XC (KC00124) with twin beds and shower/toilet in the corner, a great 'little' van. We did a few trips in this van, including north to Cooktown across to Burketown, down through Adels Grove and Riversleigh into Camooweal and then home via Winton, Charleville, Roma, Dalby, Kilcoy etc. At the start of 2006 we designed/ordered our new 20'6 ATV (KC00689) van with twin beds, full en-suite(across the back) and full width club lounge across the pointie end. We picked up the new van after the 2006 caravan show(QLD). The only 'big trip' we have done in the new van is north to Charters Towers/Rollingstone via the Gregory Developmental road and back to Noosa via the coast. Our current tow vehicle is a 2003 Discovery V8, also our 2nd Disco. We are currently renovating our house, plus a few other 'renos' for a couple of other people, so long trips away in the van is on hold at present. However, we still manage a few 'local' trips once every 3 months or so. We are currently booked in for the 'wine' weekend in August and are looking forward to catch up with other KOG members over the weekend. Kind Regards, Alan and Lynda
