  1. David My new van, purchased 3 years ago, came with a diesel heater. I had no end of trouble due to the dusty conditions of some of the roads on which we travelled. Just over 12 months ago I had installed a Truma gas heater and have had no regrets. Slightly more expensive to run compared to diesel but most certainly completely trouble free. We live in our van full time and the cost of running the heater and the stove as well as hot water has averaged just over $1.00 per day over the year we have had the heater installed. Norm
  2. I may be a little late with a reply but here it is for what it is worth. I am towing a topender with a V8 Troopie. We are on the road permanently and have covered over 110 000 km towing over the last 2.5 years with the Troopie. I have never had to add oil in all that time and have done no more than 3000 km without the van. The fuel economy towing is great and have not had one bit of trouble. Tows this big van like a dream in all kinds of conditions - and there have been some real hairy ones in both deep mud and soft sand. Norm
  3. I have a Kaymar rear bar on my new Troopie towing a Topender. I only find out now that one should not use load levelers. I had the unfortunate experience of the bolts being sheared off but thankfully I did not loose the van. I have since replaced the standard mild steel bolts with high tensile steel bolts and have reinforced the mountings. I am a bit annoyed that I was not told that I should not have used load leveler with the rear bar until after I lodged a complaint with Kaymar. Hope this helps Norm
  4. I am the person that submitted the original comment re the Yamaha. It does NOT fit in the genny box with the slide and there is no way to make it fit on the slide. I put the Yamaha in one of the other boxes and it fits neatly without the slide and has left room for me to fit in my chain saw and the chain saw oil etc. I rigged a simple ratchet tie-down to hold the Yamaha in place. You will not be disappointed with the Yamaha. I too had the Honda and was real pleased with it but it simply does not have the grunt the Yamaha does unless I went to the Honda 3000. This was a real nice one with electric start and all but it simply would not fit in the boxes and besides it was $4000 where the 2400 Yamaha was under $2000. Norm
  5. I just took delivery of our new Kedron Topender and I already had a Honda 20i and expected that this should be able to run the A/C etc. It does, in fact, run the A/C as long as nothing else at all is running at the time. This concerned me so I went shopping and came onto the Yamaha 2400 new inverter. The dealer kindly let me take it for a test run prior to parting with my money ($1895). To my pleasant surprise it runs the A/C without any problems. Furthermore it runs the A/C AND the microwave AND the charger AND the washing machine AND the lights all at once and it only just gets off the idle. I am absolutely delighted with the generator and it is, in fact, somewhat cheaper than the Honda and only marginally larger in size. Norm and Irene normbrosseuk@bigpond.com
