Alan and Liz Jones
Hi All,Our Dometic air conditioner has ceased to function on the cooling cycle after one days use and as it is out of the warranty period Dometic will not cover the repairs. The van is two years old but we haven't needed to use it up untill this Christmas while in Parkes for the Elvis Festival with temps around 30 - 40c.The Dometic service guy said that it is most likely out of gas and as it is a sealed unit the whole unit would need to be replaced. So I have spoken to Tom at Kedron and he recommends the Air Command Cormorant that they are now fitting into the new vans. Can anyone tell me how they are finding the the Air Command as I'm thinking of installing this one instead of the Dometic.Cheers Alan
Alan and Liz Jones
Thanks for the quick reply Greg. Looks like that's the way to go.I have just checked with Caravans Plus and I can get one for $1442 plus $122 freight.Cheers Alan
Zolle
Alan we had ordered a Air Command Cormorant to be fitted when we designed our van April 2009, only to be totally disappointed June 2009 too find they fitted a pathetic aircon same as what you have. It never worked efficiently even when parked in the shed, we have a 21' interior size van the pathetic aircon could only get it down to 28 degrees.Toatally frustrated having it looked at time and time again, we took it back to Kedron after 6 months Tom basically said "too bad so sad"We threw the pathetic away and fitted a Air Command as we had ordered in the first place.Happy! Happy! Happy, works a treat.Bloody fantastic, you will not be sorry.
petenmargie
Hi Alan and LIz,We've had other small issues with our Nov 2009 ATV but the air-con was not one. Basically, it's had 9 months constant use across the top and down the west coast (41C at Marble Bar 5 days in a row). Only issue was a fused motor at Coral Bay that was due to the crap power they supply (160volts!!). Aircommand replaced it even though the warranty period was up by the time we got to Perth. They even supplied a new facia after the "technician" broke the original while installing the new unit. After that I can't falt the service from Aircommand either.Sounds like an add for them I know but we're happy.Pete and Margie
Alan and Liz Jones
Hi All,I fitted the new Air Command air conditioner about a week ago and have been running it for the past few days in the hot and humid weather here in Sydney and it is fantastic, so much better than the Dometic. It brought the temp in the van down from 39c to 22c in about 20mins.I would recommend the change to anyone who has trouble with their Dometic.Cheers Alan
