RickA
We are now back in Port Augusta for a couple of days to finally have the new fridge installed. The Vitrifrigo crapped itself on the Corner country trip. One of the reasons we pulled out. It will cost about $2600 including freight from Canberra and labour.Hopefully we can claim some on insurance(under fusion). We are now settled into our new property sit and have enjoyed a bit of rain ,which was desperately needed. So now all the tanks on the property are now full.We will be there until early Sep. So if you are up our way ( near Cowell) drop in and say G`day.CheersRick & Lea
Jacky Jacky
Hi Rick & Lea, sorry to hear about your fridge problems. That would be really inconvenient and frustrating. Enjoy your house sit.
Zolle
Rick & Lea What went wrong with your fridge causing it to have to be scrapped?Ours has lost a support screw for the top shelf of the freezer allowing it to bend down at the back so it might be interesting trying to straighten it again.CheersJohn
RickA
G`Day JohnWe have had troubles since the start with the fridge .We replaced the ECU in WA ,just out of warranty and Vitrifgo didn`t want to know about it. The door fell off twice and nearly all the shelves have broken at some stage. It finally gave up the ghost on the Corner Country trip when the compressor burnt out.It would have cost nearly as much to repair as to replace it.So we did.The new model has a few different things. The freezer is part of the fridge, rather than separate and looks a bit more solid than the old one. And it has a LED light.time will tell.CheersRick
Southy
We have just come back from 2 weeks on the Savanah Way Borroloola down through Lawn Hill then down to Camoweal and back to Darwin. Our Vitrifigo fridge broke on the 3 rd day of the trip on the first bit of corrugated dirt road we went on. Fan motor seized, a pipe broke somewhere and it lost all it's gas had food all covered in a fine white oily substance.Fridge door latch didn't hold and door came open, opened the van to find eggs and veggies and the like smashed all over the floor.....Will be looking to replace it with a Waeco now, after contacting Kedron they no longer use Vitrifirgo and there'd be a very good reason for that.Would be nice to be able to somehow put in 2 Engel car fridges one for a freezer and one for a fridge but space is not conducive to it far as I can see anyway.
