  1. I recently read a posting from a member re options for the above system. When we purchased our ATV late last year we had an aerial fitted to the van for the 3G system for our laptop etc. The aerial was fitted to the roof and stood above the solar panels in height, between Brisbane and Hobart I dinged it a number of times when navigating through bush camp areas. As a result I explored for options and came up with the following. We kept the original base and then added to it an fk-851 angle adjuster {made by R.F.Industries } and then fitted a cd2195 high gain antenna again made by R.F.Industries. The result is that the aerial drops to below the roofline and travels in the horizontal position. Iwill raise it manually as required. Tree problem etc fixed. Bruce
  2. With our old van I used a 3 ton hydraulic jack. The ATV has a much greater road clearance. What do owners find the most suitable jack. Bruce :confused1:
  3. The above topic was posted by Lea & Rick. We took delivery of our new ATV 2 in October 2008 and towed it back to Hobart down the Newell to Melbourne. Our last night on the North Island was Cobram on the banks of the Murray. On setting up the van my wife opened the bathroom door to release masses of little insects, like the one's you see around rotting fruit, into the rest of the van. We had been towing all day and all windows were shut. Later in the evening I set up the tele with a couple of internal lights on and the insects were coming through in squadrons. Again all windows were shut, the only way to find some comfort was to have only one light on and blast the congregation from time to time. I rang the Kedron boys when we got home and spoke to Ashley. He couldn't come up with an answer but refered me to Peter at Dometic in Brisbane. Peter told me that the slits at the top and bottom of the windows served no purpose whatever and were purely cosmetic. His advice was to use No More Gaps, (a Selleys product) to fill the slits in. Method - Close the blind and do the botton slits first, leave for about three days to let the application harden then open the blind and do the top of the window. To do the job, an applicator for the no more gaps, a finger to smooth off the No More Gaps and a damp cloth to wipe over to clean any excess off are needed. Since doing the windows we have not been in a situation like we had at Cobram but the work makes the windows look a lot more pleasing to the eye. Have told Stan and Ashley at Kedron and they were most interested in the process. Thats all folks, Bruce
  4. Hi John and Juanita, Thank you for the reply, I remember the boys telling me about the remote controls on their Honda's. I was about to head off to Bridport after having my lunch at the same pub.The wind,Tassie sits at 42 Degrees South so we cop the Roaring 40's which gives the purest air in the world. All you need to do is trim the sails and go with it. Our ATV2 is 21' and I only have a few more sleeps before heading to Brisvages to collect the new toy. Should I buy a pair of white shoes before the trip or buy in Vages? Hope to meet you at a Kedron gathering some day. Kind regards, Bruce
  5. Hi David, Thank you for the direction on T.V. signals. Kedron is now fitting TEAC 21" TVs which do recieve digital, they are $300 more than the set they used to fit. We will now be on the pace. Our previous van was a Coromal which we owned for 6 years and we didn't have a tool like the Kedron Owners site which we have found to be a great asset. Kind Regards, Bruce
  6. Blackie, our new van i suppose will have the DVB setting on the tele. Pray tell me how to go about finding it etc. Bruce :confused1:
  7. In February 2007 I was touring the N.East of our state on my push bike and stopped for lunch at Scotsdale. I got into a conversation with the owners of the vans. They spoke very highly of their vans in a low key way,(not like the owners of that other brand). Their positive talk drifted me towards Kedron and as a result we pick up our ATV2 from the factory next month. I would like to know who those modest souls were. Bruce.
  8. Evening All, Have Kedron owners found it necessary to fit rubber flaps to the rear of their towing unit when the van is fitted with the mesh guard????? Bruce :confused1:
  9. Hi All, I have been giving the topic of water tanks and the filling thereof quite a bit of thought lately. We are due to pick up our ATV2 in October and I have reservations about the three filling points on the back right hand side of the van on the current models. Our last van had a conventional one skin fitting to fill both tanks which did the job well. I have e-mailed Stan at Kedron asking about the advantages of the new system over the skin fitting. Can anyone out their give me the benefit of their experiences, good and bad. Waiting to hear, Bruce :confused1:
  10. Hi All, In the latest copy of Caravan & Motorhome I was reading about the new Hema Navigator (advertisment). I understand that they were on show at the caravan show in Brisvages. Did anyone check them out or does any one know anything about them???? Bruce :confused1:
  11. Hi Laurie, Further to the length of your rig on the FAT BOY. The owner rang me yesterday to ask if I understood how they measure the 9 meters for the length of the rig. It is measured from the middle of the front axel on the towing vehicle to the middle of the leading axel of your van. I reckon that would get you back into the game ??? Regards, Bruce  PS- Thank you for the offer to drop in after we pick up the van, we will come back to you on that. B
  12. Hi Col, We will drive north in October to pick up our new 21' ATV2, will catch up sometime. Bruce
  13. Hi Col & Debbie, A friend of mine has a Bushtracker with air bag suspension and tipped it on its side on the Tamani Track. It has gone back to the factory to be repaired and has been told by Bushtracker that they will not refit air bags. He also told me that 10 vans had been fitted with air bags and 3 have fallen over. My friend's accident happened in the last 2 weeks. Regards, Bruce
  14. Hi Laurie, Further to my previous note on your trip to Tassie in 2009. I contacted the people who operate the Fat Boy re its carrying capasity today, 17/6/08. Max weight 6.5 tonnes. Max length 9 meters. Wheel base 2.46 meters. Width 2.5 meters. Their web address :- www. corinna.com. au If your rig is too big for the Fat Boy you would need to drive to Corinna via Zeehan, Rosebery, Tullah, Waratah and Savage River. The web address will give you the full mail. If there is anything else you would like me to do for you let me know. Regards, Bruce
  15. Hi We are Bruce and Sue, and looking forward to becoming another Kedron owner having previously had a Coromal poptop in which we travelled on the "mainland" quite extensively, but have decided to upgrade to a full height van with some more mod cons for our next trip. We expect to collect our new ATV2 in October and are presently going through options with Stan. As far as we know, we will be the first Tasmanian Kedron owners. In the Coromal we had a conventional water filler cap (like a petrol cap) in the side of the van into which I'd put a hose to fill both tanks. The Kedron setup doesn't look as flexible to me as it appears that, if I am using a hose, I will need to have a hose fittings attached to both the inlet and the hose. Therefore, if, for example I am filling up in Cooper Pedy, I would need to fill a bucket and then pump the water from the bucket into the van. We would be interested to hear what you think of the Kedron system and your experiences. Regards Bruce and Sue
  16. Hi Laurie & Helen, My wife and I are new to the KEDRON site. We pick up our new ATV 2 in October this year and will then return to the South Island where we live. You will have your running shoes on to do the island in21 days !!!!! We took our 17' 6' Coromal van through the area about 18 months ago and it was easy. There are heaps of spots to camp at no cost. On leaving Strahan go to Corinna via Zeehan,(very good Mineing & Minerals museum there), cross the Pieman river on a punt called the "Fat Boy" and you are in Corinna. From Corinna a launch does a cruise on the Pieman River. I have heard it said that this cruise is better than the Gordon River cruise. There is a camping area at Corinna along with small shop. From Corinna to Arthur River the road is unsealed and steep in parts and back to bedrock in other places,in my opinion it is not hard going. Along the way there are Trial and Granville Harbours, shackies and permanents frequent both places. You will have heaps of places to camp along the way.Temma and Couta Rocks are two places where cray fishermen live and fish the West Coast along with holiday makers. After Couta Rocks there is Arthur River. At Arthur River there a fair sized community and a good river cruise. Two boats operate on the river and we took the ------- Robertson, can't remember the christain name of the bloke the boat is named after. We enjoyed the trip very much and the operator has a couple of wild Sea Eagles who put on a show picking up meat he throws onto the river bank. After Arthur River you are through. I would recommend that you buy a book called "the guide to free-camping in Tasmania, ISBN 0958677859. This will knock spots off the Hema camps book. If you want to speak to me shoot me a note on the site and I will call you, thi goes for any one else who plans to ccome to THE LAND OF MILK AND HONEY. Regards, Bruce
