Hi to All,

I would like to get some information on fitting a Diatronic chip to my Landcruiser, eg Supplier/Advantages of installing the device and any other information that could assist me.

Thanks

Arthur

Hi Arthur,

We have a Dtronic chip in our TD LC100 series and we pull a 3.2ton KXC. Noted a definate improvement especially with towing.

Dazmit sourced ours and hopefully he will post later where he got them from and more techo info. He installed it for us and it fits in behind the glovebox.

Hi Arthur,

I am the owner of AMMS mechanical at Sandgate and we specialise in 4wd turbo upgrades.I have a 100series turbo landcruiser with a chip and exhaust.

There is quite a few chips to choose from all offering similar increases(Dtronic,Rapid,DP and Steinbauer to name a few).

The chip alone will give you approx 10% to 15% increase in torque and power.Add a 3 inch exhaust and you will achieve another 10%(based on the 100 series).Another bonus is better fuel economy.

I tow a 3.2 tonne ATV and the main advantage i noticed was the torque increase throughout the whole rev range.

I can supply you with dyno graphs that will show increases and you can also take mine for a drive to feel for yourself.

I hope this info is of help.

Regards,

Hi Arthur

I can vouch for what Jacky Jacky & Glen have said.

The Dtronic gives a noticeable increase in the torque mid range and also improves the little hesitation from the standing start. I also fitted a 3" exhaust at a later date and noticed another noticeable improvement - makes overtaking with the van on better

However I did fit a Taipan exhaust and what they don't tell you is with the hot dog style muffler it's quite noisey - after 12 months I had enough and went to a local exhaust shop who swapped the muffler for a larger free flowing type - heaps better noise wise and no noticeable drop in power.

The dtronic fits behind the glovebox and takes about 15 min to install.

Glen has given you a great offer so i would take him up on that.

Glen do you have a web link for your business as I might look you up when I need some work done on the Cruiser ??

Cheers

Darryl

Hi Arthur.

I can endorse Jacky Jacky and Dazmit's experience; we put a chip in our 100 series TD LC and noticed about a 10% increase in fuel economy, as well as much improved pulling power. Especially useful for overtaking and going up steep hills with a 3.5 tonne van on back!

BUT in Melbourne recently we had some trouble with the vehicle (wouldn't start one day - not a peep out of it when you turned the key). Turned out to be the chip had become faulty and interfered with the electronics. It took a Toyota deler about 4 days to discover the source of the problem. Uninstalled the chip and all was well. But this cost us $500 for the exercise.

Now we are running without the chip as we will be selling the van and vehicle in near future (upgrading to another Kedron and a 200 series) but gosh! I miss the chip.

Chris
