  1. Hi Kereru We have house, 2 cars and our van with RACQ. We were members of a 4wd club and RACQ was the only company to cover us while 4wding on designated tracks in 4wd Parks and forestry areas and there was never an issue with them when claiming on mishaps while 4wding. We also wrote off our first Kedron caravan on the Mereenie Loop, West McDonald Ranges near Alice Springs - not a Kedron issue - and we could not have asked for better service. We also have Ultra Care with RACQ, so between the two of them, what could have been a disaster turned out to be a memorable experience with us being able to continue our holiday minus van, but well looked after. They paid for 7 days accommodation as well and phoned us daily to see if they could assist us further. They paid and organised for the transport of our van back to Brisbane for assessment by Kedron as no-one else could give an accurate estimate. Kedron wrote it off and advised a suitable payout figure, which was paid by RACQ promptly and without hassle. We also have a friend who had a serious heart attack while in South Australia in a remote location. After several weeks of treatment in Adelaide, RACQ offered to fly him and his wife back to Brisbane and truck their van and car back at no cost to them. They were very happy with the service they received. We have an agreed value policy with RACQ for our 9 year old Landcruiser that has $30,000 worth of modifications on it and RACQ has never hesitated to provide cover or payout on several claims we have made. Enjoy OZ and your new van. Cheers Glen & Debbie.
  2. Hi David our pump stopped working a couple of months ago and Glen just gave it a bit of a shake and it was working again . I now make sure I run all the pumps most weekends, as Glen thought it may be due to lack of use even though we usually manage to get out in the van every 6wks. I have been using Odour b gone tablets (http://www.odourbgone.com.au/) for a few years now. It is environmentally friendly including safe for dolphins, etc and absolutely no smells. I crush the tablet and use it in the top tank as well. Can't stand the smell of the liquid chemicals. But I will definitely give the napisan a go - so thanks for sharing the info. Cheers Deb B
  3. Thanks Laurie and Helen for joining us and adding to our enjoyment. We had a great time. We also enjoyed in assisting with the sales of kayaks. We had fun Monday morning packing up in the rain - poor Julie was just throwing everything into plastic bags to sort out for drying when she got home. But it didn't put her off future camping outings - has just added on her list to have more plastic bags  It was good to meet some new KOGs as well with their very shiny new van - Daryl and Airy (sorry not sure of the spelling). Cheers Deb B
  4. Hi Glen & I will be in Brunswick Heads up to the 30th March. If passing or looking for somewhere to go, Brunswick is a great spot - need to book. We are at the Terrace Reserve Caravan Park. Don't forget the kayak/canoe and bikes. Cheers Deb B
  5. Hi Peter Glen & I travelled from Birdsville to Coober Pedy via Maree and onto Alice Springs, etc in 2006 and again in the opposite direction in 2007 and what is a must see if you have time, is Muloorina Station which is approx 1k outside Maree heading up to Lake Eyre. It is a camping area along side a man made lake fed from a bore. It is supposed to have approx 160 different bird species in the area. There are flushing toilets. Campfires allowed - best to take a supply of wood if you can. The cost was $2 per night which was donated to the RFDS. In 2006 we were the only ones there along with another couple we met at Birdsville who asked if they could join us. In 2007 there were approx 4 other campers. Cheers Deb B
  6. I would like to second that Chris. Sue has saved me a few times now when things haven't gone to plan with the posting of emails, etc. Thanks to all the Moderators. Cheers Deb & Glen B
  7. Congratulations Chris & Val on your new purchases. I love the colour of your LC200- was very easy to pick in the traffic. Cheers Deb B
  8. Our thanks to Rod & Mavis for a great weekend. Thanks for the company, weather and scenery. Shame about the fishing - will have to try again another time. Cheers Deb & Glen
  9. Thanks Laurie & Helen for joining us. It is the company that makes a good weekend and I know that Glen & I had a great time, so thanks to everyone that attended. The food was also amazing. Cheers Deb B

  11. Hi We will be up late this arvo - we will throw a bag of wood in the car. Cheers Deb B
  12. Thanks Rosco and Jeff We were thinking of the 3300w genquip as our airconditioner is 3000w. We are off to the show on Wed and will talk to them all there and we will either bring home a generator or go back to the drawing board trying to decide just what we want the generator for - ultimately to charge the batteries & I think we will forget about the aircon. Glen was also very interested in a Yamaha. Cheers Deb B
  13. Hi Laurie and Helen we are off to Tassie in November for 5wks. We have booked the ferry and have our itinerary all ready for us to go. Yep that damn lotto just keeps evading us too. Will keep you in mind when we do our trip for must sees and/or must avoid. We are doing the island anti clockwise. Glen has picked out 4 or 5 bases for us to do day tours from. We have been advised that there are some amazing free camps in Tassie. We are also hoping to do a couple of weeks in the South Island of New Zealand next year in a motorhome, so any advice is very welcome. Love doing the bush walks. Cheers Deb B
  14. Hi we are very interested in the Genquip Digital Inverter Generators. Does anyone have any information good or bad. Cheers Deb & Glen B
  15. Hi Peter look forward to seeing you. Cheers Deb B
  16. By the way, once I figure out how to post some pics on the site - I have some good ones of Jane at Imbil:) Cheers
  17. Hi Thanks for the vote of confidence in our fitness:) We went there a few years back - it was the last year they had the campground at the start of the walks open. There were approx 20 of us including young children and on our first day, we all did the 22k walk. The only problem Glen & I had was our footwear - I had a faithful pair of joggers and Glen had redback work boots - at the end of the day, once we took our shoes off - we had difficulty getting them back on due to very nasty blisters - had to bust the one on my little toe to even consider getting my foot back in the shoe. As soon as we got to the creek near the campground we took off our shoes and just let them go numb in the very refreshing water and really wanted to just spend the next few days with my feet in the creek:) We continued to walk each day - very slowly - and got to do most, but not all. So we plan to do it all again and hopefully take in the walks we missed out on - and will let you know how it goes - is there a prize for doing the whole walk again - maybe share some port at the next campfire. We also now have very worn in and very suitable hiking boots and since a bit older - hiking sticks:) I am also being a woosy and have booked a powered site to plug in the electric heater - might even consider an electric blanket:) Chris also mentioned the dust, so I will keep it in mind and hopefully we can pick our spot when we get there. We went to Undara last year - actually enjoyed Cobbold Gorge more, but that is further again. Cheers Deb & Glen
  18. Thanks. Think I might check out element 6 then. Need to wait to see how serious Glen gets with his photography before jumping into CS3 which is out now at quite a nice price. Luckily I was sitting down when I checked out the price:) Cheers Deb B
  19. Thanks Chris - will definitely keep that in mind. Last time we stayed at the campground right in the national park at the start of the walks. Cheers Deb B
  20. Hi Chris Wish we could join you both in NT, but no luck with the lotto at this stage:) Keep an eye out for Clive and Shirley. They are up that way somewhere. Could you advise what photoshop software you use please. Cheers Deb B
  21. Hi We also found the chemicals very overpowering in the scent department. We came across some tablets "odour b gone" (came across it in the Caravan World magazine) which we have been using for approx 1 year now. There is no smell and they are environmentally friendly and you can use it for all sorts of things - not just the toilet. They advise that you use half a tablet for up to 4 days or a whole tablet for 7 days - I find it best to empty the toilet after 5 days for no smells. I have attached the website link for your info on what you can use it for and where you can purchase it. I first purchased it by contacting Coastline Trading at Raby Bay Qld and having it mailed. Otherwise you can purchase from the Caravan and Camping Show, but can't remember which stand it was. I know of someone who uses the biomagic and they find it works well by adding natural yoghurt. http://www.odour-b-gone.com.au/ Cheers Deb B
  22. Hi Glen & I are heading off to Carnarvon Gorge if anyone would like to join us. Have booked a powered site at Takaru Campground 10th - 15th June. Cheers Deb B
