  1. Hi Zolle As an owner of 2 Kedrons previously a ATV poptop 2004 and now a Topender 2006 I can’t say I have had any problems with the cabinet work at all. These 2 vans were used extensively offroad and to my knowledge my previous van is used still extensively off road and has not had any problems at all. I just had a look at my Topender cabinet work and it is glued and stapled and also has a little bone shaped plug in the joins for added strength which I paid a premium price to get. I see that you have the XC. I’m not sure of the build strength of the cabinets in the XC vans but I’m sure if you were to go and speak with the Galls they would be most helpful in remeding the issues you have. I am also aware of some others who have had issues with their vans but when it all comes down to the facts you will usually find that it was the owners own fault ie tyre pressures too high, not driving the conditions etc.etc. To date on this forum and from many personal discussions I have had with members, I have never heard any complaints I can think of, of cabinet work being faulty. Perhaps yours might be a one off and I think you really should talk to the Galls before asking the forum. There is no need for a personal attack Darryl has his contact with the Kedron factory/sales yard would be to inform them of future gatherings should they wish to attend. Kedron keep an eye on this forum themselves and will most probably see your reply. We do NOT need comments such as that on this forum as we run it independently from the Kedron manufacturing side and they have no input into what is said on the forum. Regards
  2. Enuff said AND NOTHING MORE TO ADD John  Regards
  3. I dont think there would be tooo many 100 series Factory turbos or Nissans towing around heavy vans that would be legal either. The other ones to look at are the bommodores and the falcons towing vans around, some of these only have approx 150kg ball load and they are towing vans around as well would they be legal with fuel passengers and luggage ?? dont think so Have a look and start calculating some of the weights B/Bar,winch, fuel, weight of van on towbar, passenger just to name a few and then add the boat on the roof plus all the associated safety equipment that needs to be carried as well and you might surprise yourselfs.Even without a lot of these accessories I think many would come very close to being over the GVM when they hooked up there vans loaded for a trip around the block. How often have you heard of claims being knocked back by insurance companies because of the above I cant think of any??But in saying that there is allways a first. My opnion would be if Insurance co's started enforcing these rules to the max they would end up with a massive headache from disgruntled customers taking them to task thru the courts and then the insurance co would have to prove that the said item/items actually caused the accident With my 100 series as seen in pics in the photos section I had every accessory which was a lot, noted on my insurance policy and the insurance co didnt quibble with me about these and just gave me a bill to pay Im not saying that this is right but other than going to a truck of some kind what are vanners spose to do?? I have heard that toyota are looking into an upgrade of the landcruiser payload (rumoured) I am also aware of upgrade that has been done in Qld giving i think 250kg extra and the only requirement was fitment of airbags to the rear suspension at a cost of approx $300 and an engineers ticket Just my thoughts Regards
  4. David and Jane I can only sympathise with you both being under so much preassure to swap the 200 wish I had of been there for some support  :drunk:

    Requesting Advice

Hi Barb Welcome to the group and I'm sure you will find plenty to keep reading With your wish list most of your ideas will be good but what concerns me is finding a 2nd hand van with what you are asking may be VERY difficult to find. I would keep an open mind on what you are after,2nd hand Kedrons are on the market but not in abundance and in most cases sell very quickly when advertised Regards

    Repair Work

Hi I did hear that this was the case but you are the 1st to confirm it? I think with the demand of new vans and warranty work that they might be trying to move away from general repairs dissapointing yes. Hopefully they will reconsider the decision when work load eases a bit if it ever does :whip: Just my thoughts Regards
  13. Can someone tell me what type size or code name for these hologen lights are ???? I know they are smaller than the normal Halogen lights that are fitted to homes and I have been looking for LED's to suit but Im not sure of what I'm asking for when I go to a shop and cant explain, only option is to take a globe and when I find a shop that sells Led's I never have a globe handy. Regards
  14. Hi Lloyd and Lynne I have been a member of the VKS 737 4wd network and I am also a member of the HF Radio club and have been a member of both these clubs for approximately 5 yrs. I didn't rejoin the 4wd network this yr as the fees just kept going up and I dont believe that I was getting value for money and as you say the 4wd network doesnt encourage chat unless it is Scheds time and then only a brief chat. The 4wd network only has 5 Frequencies that you are able to use and in my opinion the 8022 freq is useless if you wanted to talk to someone as it is always doing a sched. And they also don't have telephone interconnect either unless you go thru another provider and this is expensive. I stuck with the HF Radio club who I find much more friendly and at a cost of $60 a yr you get the use of 9 Frequencies ranging from 3meg up to 15meg. We also get to use Reids Radio data freq as well and they have a reciprocal agreement with the HF radio club no other club allows this as far as I'm aware This club also have the telephone interconnect and you have to pay an upfront cost of $50 into an account that remains yours until used for the telephone and calls are charged at $1 first min and 50c a min after to a max of 6mins before disconnection to a landline and $1 a min to a max of 6 mins for a mobile no Once this telephone account is depleted to about $10 you are notified and the account needs to be topped up Further info can be found here http://www.hfradioclub.com.au/the_club.htm What also should be remembered here is that in an EMERGENCY you can use ANY freq from any club and no one can refuse this Regards
  15. Longshot answer But are you sure that these wires are joined inside the cupboard as from memory when mine was set up by the sat guy he had to join wires and put a connection onto the wires as they were just sitting inside the cupboard wrapped up in electrical tape. Wires I'm talking about are in the same compartment where the winguard ariel connection is worth a look Regards

  20. Totally agree with Rosco I have the Coleman Mach on our Topender and to date havn't suffered any of the problems that others report here to having. We were in Borroloola area mid April last yr and it was very hot there and we ran the aircon on the Generator with no problems Im sure Chris will come on here and report her findings re the Honda and I believe they are going for the Yamaha in the new van Regards
  21. Hi John and Anne You dont mention wether you are considering a Topender or another van but with regards to the 7'8 wide option it isnt available on the Topenders as I requested this when we ordered our Topender. Stan and David said that with the brush bars that are added to the topenders that makes it the legal 7'8" wide which is the maximum width legally that they can go Might be worth a call to Kedron to confirm this. One of the reasons we sold our ATV was because of the QS bed fitted and now have a double and dont have any dramas now with getting around the sides of the bed and Ned is much happier
  22. Hi all I have just come across a very useful map of Australia that might come in handy for trip planning Hope this works  Enjoy Australia_20full_20map.pdf
