Webby Posted June 17, 2009 Report Share Posted June 17, 2009 Hi ChrisWe are not quite home yet. Should be back by the weekend, all going well. We have had an absolute ball !! Anyone who has not done The Cape yet should definately put it on their "to do" list. What an adventure. We left the van at home for this trip as we wanted to do the Old Telegraph Track, and tented it. The van is going to seem like The Ritz after this !We covered every type of road surface imaginable and some of the water in the creek crossings was over the bonnet. No damage at all to the vehicle, but gee it was rough on a set of tyres. The Cruiser is absolutely covered on dust (inside and out). Even a bit of Cape "pinstriping" to polish out.Anyone wanting to take their van to the top via the Bypass would have no trouble at all. The roads are great (although a little currugated - 9,658,002 to be exact). Loyalty Beach is a nice spot to base the van while you take the car the additional 40-50 klms through bush and rainforest tracks. We took the van all the way to Weipa and then on to Seisa calling in and camping at Elliot Falls on the telegraph track. The van towed great without any problems,not sure about that many corrugations though.
