  1. Hi Robert & Jane. We experienced the same drama with our skirt. Rod moved the press studs on the van to suit the shrunken skirt. This worked well and it's total length for some reason was still ok for the end walls to be installed. Most studs needed to be moved about an inch (will leave the conversion to you ) All good now ! The question still remains. How does silver tarp shrink??????
  2. Hi Sue & Rod. Thanks for the reply. The North of the State will be our objective in some other year. We were in Geraldton about a month ago (I think, time has lost meaning grin). We stayed with a friend in her second home, she is living mostly in Kalbarri where her hubby works and she commented that the flowers there were already out then up North. Guess you have a huge climate difference through the States latitudes. We have loved the whole experience. Regards too ya.
  3. Greetings Kaye & Lance. We have the modded 6 tonner that Rick & Lea are talking about. All later versions have been manufactured with the chamfered lugs and better bushings. The two lugs that locate the van hitch over the towbar fitting have been chamfered to allow the hitch to drop on easier. I find now that even with the hitch not lined up too well, with hand pressure on the top of the hitch as it comes down it pulls the unit into line and drops on easily. Cheers too ya.
  4. We are currently off travelling in Wa looking at the wild flower extravaganza. This place is mind boggling. You blokes will definately get flowered out but rest assured the girls will too. There are hundreds of Kms of magnificent viewing. Love it and wish we could stay for months to see what is not out yet or to have been here for what has already flowered. Absolutely unavailable. Have a look at http://travellin.kyd.com.au/ For our ravings. Cheers to all.
  5. We are beginning to dislike you Eric. We had to pay a fortune for fish and chips at Fremantle two days ago and also had to fight of the seagulls. Not to mention some silly ba.tard put the parking pay ticket upside down on the dash and copped a $50 parking fine fine :-( . Obviously not in the Hobie?? Lovely fish mate!
  6. Greetings Pete & Tracy. Our set up is simply to have the Anderson charge lead plugged to the car via a 5 meter extension lead and thus putting the car into the battery bank of the van. We did specify 25sq mm wiring and a 135a plug to allow full current flow and minimal voltage losses over the distance. Our car and the van have the same heavy wiring. We have been parked up for the last almost two weeks and the car fridge has been running happily with the car plugged in and not started Beware of the small wiring usually fitted to van and car. We have proven that our original ex factory set up was only allowing 3-4 amps to pass through, totally unsatisfactory. This is a joke when you are trying to put power into 3 big AGM's from the vehicle while travelling,or back to the vehicle when parked up. Regards and safe travels.
  7. John and jo. likewise hope we do bump into you on the wild flower track. Have just tonight had a report that they are early and on display now Can't wait!! Also can't promise that we won't ask the history on the van rego though grin.
  8. Hi Phil & Darlene. It was a pleasure to catch up with you and also to show you our baby. We will be at Kalgoorlie about the 9th 10th 11th and camped on the Nullabor somewhere on the night of the 12th. It would be great to share a cleansing ale but not sure how or when. If our plans change at all we will keep you posted. safe trip mate and regards.
  9. Thanks for the heads up Mark & Simone. We have been keeping a close eye on our tow bar bar (Hayman Reese) since van upgrade in early June this year. Our tare was 2840kgs on an 18'6" van. We have just done a run to Perth from Brisbane and before departure ran the rig over the weigh bridge fully loaded. Our weight was 3540kgs with a draw bar weight of 280kgs. We were pretty happy with this result but are mindful of the 3500 rating on our 100 series tow bar. I did replace the mount bolts (on the tow bar) and did a close inspection of all areas of the bar and mounts before this trip but the weight leaves us too close for comfort on an off road van for my liking. Vigilance is the only answer for these heavy vans until we can upgrade the tow tug. Regards and again thanks for your info.
  10. Great to hear from you John & Maureen. We have to be in Wagga Wagga for our Grandsons pass out from Army training 23rd September so our trip will be a little rushed unfortunately. There is so much to see on this side of the Country. We were here 6 years ago for about 6 months but that was not long enough. Thanks again for the post and safe travels to you both from both of us .
  11. Greetings Rick & Lea. If you are still in Lithgow freezing to death, drop in to the Auto Pro shop & say g-day to Joe McInnes the bloke that invented the McHitch. He owns the shop and is a nice fella. Safe travels.

We will be starting with some non Kedron friends that require power and amenities and dog friendly stop overs so we personally will be in van parks for the week. Please if you want to come make a booking for two nights at Moora (08) 9651 1401 and let us know by registering a reply to this post. Send us a PM if you want our contact details. Any of your non Kedron friends are welcome as well, the more the merrier. P.S. If you are in the area and just want to catch up for a cleansing ale or blood fortifying red with some nibbles let us know
  13. Great news guy's. Excitement building, its a great feeling isn't it. Even better dragging them out of the factory after delivery and off for a shake down run. As far as them selling you stuff,if it sounds good and you can afford it do it, you won't be building one of these baby's every year! Thanks for the update and the post, it is great to see new postings so as we know that the world is still turning in the Eastern States Regards to you both and happy and safe travels. P.S. (Mavis reckons the same of me talk to anyone grin)
  14. Greetings all. Mavis and I are also in WA. We are in Rockingham area until the 29th of this month then we head off to the wild flowers for a week. Come on Koggers how about we start talking to the group and each other. What has happened to the KOG spirit and the great level of communication that existed not so long ago. Can we not get over the incorporation of this great group and revert to the great mob that we were not too long ago. START TALKING YOU LOT WE HAVE A LOT TO SAY AND A LOT TO LEARN FROM EACH OTHER. Stu.f politics or any other little worries that we have.Get on with life and start talking again. We are a great group of people regardless of what we own or what our beliefs are. Open up friends and get on with life. Best regards to everyone else and Love to our friends until we meet the everyone elses grin and then we will maybe love yas. P.S. If you are not a proffesional writer do not worry, non of us are so just talk to us and we do not mind the spelling/gramatical erors or any other slip ups.
  15. John & Joe, Russ & Sue We think you will have a great year for the flowers. We did stop in at Mullewa on the way back to Shoalwater from the Geraldton run and asked the info center if there were any wreath flowers out yet but alas we were too early. Two to three weeks time we will try again, but our time will sadly be limited. John & Joe,Russ & Sue make the most of it and travel safe. Regards.
  16. Greetings all. We are in WA at the moment and they are having a great wet winter. Looks like the flowers will be superb this year. We have just spent a week touring around the wild flower areas and their little heads are about to burst forth with colour. Hoping that we can stay long enough to see the results. We will be heading back to the areas in about 3 weeks. Regards to all.
  17. Greetings Barra Pete. Agree completely with the above.Telstra is the only carrier for remote area coverage. I fitted a next G aerial on our XC mounted on a marine swivel mount just above the door so I could raise it standing on the step.I ran the cable into the van at the dinette to attach to the phone or modem. On our new van we had an aerial fitted again above the door and a second one which was an option on the Saturn TV aerial. These were wired into the van and we have two connections on the wall at the dinette. The aerial in the tv aerial is not quite as strong as the one on the swivel but works well. My advice from several aerial/lead specialists was that you could not split from one aerial to two devices but this may have changed We run with the latest pre paid Telstra elite wireless modem ($129 with 3 gig trial for 3 months) with aerial connection and both our phones have aerial connection. We have found that all Telstra phones (with aerial provision and there are a few mainly the tick phones) use the same patch leads so that is pretty handy. It all works well for us. If you have any dramas with leads and you live near or are passing brissie try Wincom Unit 4/31 Kenworth PL Brendale Matt is the man on 0411704391 ring before you go there as he is mobile for parts of the day. He also supplies the adaptors and the marine mounts.
  18. Greetings all. Honestly this is not a sales pitch. We installed a Saturn aerial on our new van with an inbuilt next G aerial. We also opted for the electric raise and swivel options. TV reception is strong both analog and digital and we have had reception in areas where the Wineguards were not performing at all. We are currently rained in at Tilpa on the Darling NSW.There is no tv with the exception of Satellite of course. Mobiles don't work without aerials. We installed the Saturn and another next G aerial on a marine swivel. Here at Tilpa we have no bars without aerial, with the Saturn 1 bar and the swivel aerial 3 bars. Thus the internet is on the next G swivel and the phone is happy on the Saturn. Love it
  19. Greetings Billy We were told by our insurance company that they required a written valuation from Kedron. They refused to give us a written valuation would only supply a verbal for us so we went to an independant mob that our insurers accepted. QMV QUEENSLAND MOTOR VALUATIONS Ph 07 33441544 mob 0412731600 Troy Dwyer Email troy@qmv.com.au This guy came to our house. We supplied all the info as to the mods that we had done and inclusions and the quote was delivered two days later. He opened every cupboard and drawer even looked in the fridge and freezer and under the bed but the result was good for us.Cost us $250. This enabled us to increase the insured value of our van by $20,000 at the huge cost of $25 on top of the previous premium. Good luck and regards.
  20. Greetings again all. Steve and Kez we could not agree more. The advert is not the experience. Having said that, Inventor it looks like a good option for people to consider when deciding on the best coupling for their van but do not make it look too easy cause it never is. It is now a very personal choice with so many heavy van couplings available on the market and requires a lot of research or requests for help from those that need it.
  21. Greetings friends. Hi Chem Hammercoat can be applied to gal surfaces and it is recommended that an etch primer be applied after thorough removal of surface contaminants. New gal is a problem due to the oily residue present, but old gal will not be a problem! A great alternative is to wash the chassis with diluted aluminium cleaner (Chem Tech or similar) make sure that you thoroughly wash it off as it is an acid and the gal looks like new for a while grin. Love to Lea and a hand shake for you Rick
  22. Well done Den and Col and good luck with the new van.
  23. Due to a difficulty in posting pics in the for sales (probably my technologically dyslectic approach to this stuff grin) I will post them here, If you want to see the add go to the "For Sales".
