  1. Hi Johann Check out the van layouts on the Kedron Caravan website or contact them for a brochure. We don't think you can fit a cafe dinette into a 17' TopEnder van with an ensuite and island double bed. We think it has to be at least 19'6" to fit in. We have Layout 4 which is just over 16'6" internal, 18' external x 7'6", but it has an L-shape dinette. good luck prospecting Tom & Jackie PS We love O'Briens Creek.
  2. Good evening Neil and Julie, It looks like the Golf club at Tenterfield is better than the fishing at the Top End, good luck with the sale. Tom and Jackie. P.S. I could be interested in that in that boat trailer If you have a garage sale?
  3. G'day Prospector, We have our 17' TopEnder for sale. It is listed on rvpoint as Ref: 111948 www.caravancampingsales.com.au Phone us if you'd like more info. Cheers Tom
  4. Hi Sue, We are unable to log in, or register on the classifieds section, where are we going wrong? It tells us that the URL does not exist. Thanks Jackie. :helpsmilie:
  5. G'day John, How did your external cleaning of the van go,with all those hints from the forum? About to start Jackie on her mission, any thing you would or would not do? Up the Old Red Rooster, Tom :helpsmilie:
  6. Ah! Tassie, what a top place, It is a bit like go-ing OS, Our favourite butchers are Sharmans at Wivenhoe, and for something completley different Morrilla vine yard north of Hobart, we love Tassie and could prattle on for days. Enjoy, Tom and Jackie
  7. Dondelta, Ithink that the 2.8 yammy is a good move, more weight than the 2.4, but more grunt and if you are using the the van for living off the grid, you can live that life of luxuary, I believe that is the reason we buy Kedron. My days of laying around on the ground, ended many years ago, Enjoy life and the comforts you have earned. Cheers, Tom and Jackie.
  8. John, Check the caravaners forum I think I read something on there ,hope it help's. Tom
  9. Sorry John the rest of the gang got it right, I'm just a colour blinded QUEENSLANDER, I shall order a bottle for Jackie, it will give her a job when she finishes mowing. Tom.
  10. John, Contact Kedron they use a pink polish!, but I have not been able track it down in the retail stores, Regards, Tom
  11. G'day Pete and Tracey, A quick fix would be a couple of tubes of Roof and Gutter sealant and a mastic gun, Have some soap and water mixed and a blunt knife to spread the sealant you could check your Wynguard antenna they have a rubber grommet that could come lose, check to see if you have any water ponding on the roof Good luck , Tom and Jacky
  12. G'Day John and Pauline, Got some bad news for you mate, the 8 RAR top ender was the first Kedron into Pandanus in 2006, I did not have the child bride Jackie with me, she thought Bali with her sister looked better value. Welcome to the Kedron Mob. Up The Old Red Rooster and more good times. Tom and Jackie
  13. In the past we've unscrewed the inside fittings and cleaned the frame and insect screen at the same time. Although I scrubbed and soaked with preen etc, I still couldn't get rid of the pink tinge caused by red dust. We've opted to replace the screens with dark coloured midge screen. Looks good, doesn't show the dirt and is tighter down the edges than our tired white ones. Here are some very detailed and easy to follow instructions on how to replace the screens. Thanks to Lawrie and his dreampod website. I sewed mine along the pocket to ensure they stayed in place. http://www.dreampod.net/boroma/dometic_windows.html best wishes Tom & Jackie
  14. Hi KOGers We are on a day sailing back to Melbourne from Tassie, arriving in Melbourne 6 pm. We are planning to head west, destination Adelaide. Can anyone recommend a good place to overnight - caravan park or free camp - but away from the road and quiet and not too far from Melbourne. Has anyone been to the Ballan Caravan Park? Thanks for any advice. best wishes Tom & Jackie

    Tyres

We've got BF Goodrich on the LC, and are very happy with them. Of course, it doesn't matter how good your tyres are, if you are unlucky enough to pick up a nail they still go flat on the bottom  Cheers and beers Tom
  16. Hi Ken and Marea, Welcome to the Kedron family. We love Tassie and are here until 14 Feb and this is our second time with the van, after several 2 to 3 week trips flying in from Qld. Yes, you do have to get the tape measure out. Once you know the length when hitched up, round it up to the next metre, ie our rig is 13.8 m so we had to pay for 14 m. Ask about the best deals on the Spirit. The staff in the call centre are very helpful and will work out alternative quotes for you. We like to travel with a cabin as people say the seats are very noisy and tightly spaced. If travelling in peak season, fares are dearer, but you can get a day sailing which will save the cost of the cabin. In our opinion, if you are only bringing the van for 3 weeks, it may be cheaper to bring the car only and stay in cabins. It cost us over $1700 return this time and that is with a pension discount for 1 person and a day sailing one-way. Caravan parks here average $25 to $30 pn, but there are lots of lovely free camps especially along the east coast. Be aware that the annual CMCA rally is on in mid-March, so expect free camps to be hard won. Please feel free to message us if you want more specific questions answered. regards Jackie & Tom
  17. Hi Chris, We've been to Tassie a few times and this is the 2nd trip towing the van. Each time we find something new to experience. Tassie is very RV friendly with lots of great camping spots, many of which you can stay up to 4 weeks. Although many roads are narrow, windy and up and down, they are well sign-posted for route names and directions (if not for speed warnings). We're still at New Norfolk and today we drove out to Lake Pedder and Gordon Dam - amazing scenery, well worth the drive. Our avatar photo was taken at sunset at Police Paddocks   on the Murray River not far from Rutherglen - it's a very peaceful free camp but we didn't have much luck catching the famous cod. best wishes Jackie & Tom
  18. We have been hiding in Tassie for the last month, the last 3 weeks at Dianas Basin 8 ks south of St Helens, some of the time in the company of Neil and Julie G. Moved to New Norfolk CP on Sunday, had a great time at the Taste of Tassie Festival to-day, Jacky had her photo taken with Angry Anderson. He is flogging Blunderstone Boots at the entrance to Taste. Worth the visit, Food and Wine in Tassie is fantastic. Tom and Jacky. ps Neil your e-mail address is bouncing.
  19. We really enjoyed Lawn Hill, canoing up the gorge was a highlight of our trip. We can recommend Turners Beach CP (run by a community group?) also the camp spot at Riana, inland from Penguin which is run by volunteers, very cheap and lots of firewood when we were last there. BTW, We met a very nice lady working at Tamworth Services Club who was attending the Hog Rally. They had booked the whole ferry on 4 Nov. Tom & Jackie
  20. Hi Bruce, Rod and Adam We're on the ferry to the Apple Isle on 3 December and staying till mid-Feb. Rod, Not sure if you'd remember us. We me you at Turners Beach whilst waiting for the ferry home to the big island in Feb 2006. We've got the first of the TopEnders. We've been round the block since then but Tassie is still one of our favourite places to visit. Hope we can catch up again. Happy trails Tom & Jackie
  21. G'day We've towed for about 50,000 km out of the almost 100,000 kms our 2004 100 series TD has done. Our Topender is approx 3.3 t loaded. I usually tow in Drive but when uphill listen to the engine and change down to 4th just before it would if left in Drive. We've had our engine chipped plus 3" exhaust and it runs nicely at around 2000 revs doing 100 kph. I usually tow at the max advertised speed unless conditions dictate otherwise. Also, we've just had our LC cut and stretched 300 mm with new canopy and it seems to tow even better than before. Happy trails Jackie

  23. Chris, Russ & Sue, Thanks for info. I hadn't considered not being able to use it in van parks. Our van is only 16'6" so definitely no room to put a washer inside. It's good to know that the Lemair is reliable. Cheers Jackie
  24. Hi all We're thinking about buying a washing machine, so we'd like feedback from anyone who owns one. I'm upgrading from a bucket and trusty plumber's plunger! I'm thinking about the Lemair but any info would be gratefully received regarding reliability, ease of servicing, where to buy, cost, other models etc. We're currently getting our Landcruiser modified and we plan to carry it in the back of the vehicle. thanks Jackie & Tom
  25. Hi Reg and Fran We spent an enjoyable couple of days with our van doing the loop from the Sunshine Coast (home) out to Kingaroy and back via Gympie > Kilkivan > Murgon > Kingaroy > Nanango > Yarraman (spent 2 nights at very nice van at Caravan Park in Yarraman @ $22 pn) > day trip through Bunya Mountains via Wutul and Kingaroy and back to Yarraman > Kilcoy > (over the hill to Beerwah) > Sunshine Coast. All good bitumen country roads. There a quite a few wineries in the region as well as Kingaroy cheese factory, oil factory and peanut vans etc. It can be quite cold at that time of year though, so a van park and testing the reverse air con might be a good idea. If you want to free camp, the Swinging Bridge park (48 hr stop) behind the Drovers Rest at Cooyar is very pretty and looks like it would be quiet but we haven't stayed there. Alternatively, there are some nice forest parks at Kenilworth. Charlie Moreland and Booloumba Creek No 4 allow caravans at $5 per person per night. Kenilworth is a nice little town that has an excellent cheese factory with tastings etc. Eumundi Markets are open on Sat morning and Wednesday. You can learn more about the state forest parks at www.epa.gov.au Have fun Tom & Jackie
